You mean he's waisted his money doing all those Tony Robbins courses during the past 12 months ?

Well for the time being yes , I have been to one of his courses many years ago , didn't help me

St Kilda football director Jaon Blake played under Lyon, while there was a strong push midseason from St Kilda to make a play for the man who took the club to three grand finals..
Lyon coached the Saints from 2007 to 2011, including taking the Saints to the grand Final in 2009 and 2010, before quitting to join Fremantle.
He led the Dockers from 2012-2019.
Bassat said the club needed a “different style of leadership and a different voice”
Blakeeeyyyyyy

Steele wasn’t out of form but I have a feeling leadership wise he was feeling the strain in a similar way Cogs was in the doco. Only way they know how to lead is to just rack up the touches and tackles.
It would not shock me in the slightest if another outcome of this review (officially or not) is that Steele needs a co-captain. Wilkie is the obvious choice.

Who make the list of potential candidates? We take a look.

Ross Lyon
Could Ross the Boss make a stunning comeback to the Saints? Lyon guided the Saints to a grand final in 2009 before a controversial move to Fremantle. Would the scars of this remain?

Luke Beveridge
The Western Bulldogs coach has one year to run on his contract at the Whitten Oval and would be an attractive option for the Saints.
St Kilda reportedly targeted Beveridge before he re-signed at the Dogs in 2019.
He has strong ties to the Saints.
Beveridge had accepted a role at the Saints as head of football before his shock appointment at the Bulldogs for the 2015 season
Does he jump ship early to rebuild St Kilda, the club he played 45 games for in the 1990s?
Beveridge’s father John was a long-time recruiting boss at the Saints.

Robert Harvey
The Saints legend wants to be a senior coach, having put himself forward for several vacant positions over the past couple of years. The dual Brownlow Medallist narrowly missed out to Ratten when he was appointed as the senior coach of St Kilda in 2019.

Adem Yze
The Melbourne assistant has come close to several senior coaching gigs, most recently with Essendon. Could St Kilda be the one that finally gives Yze a chance?

Lenny Hayes
The club great has only just returned to Moorabbin as an assistant coach. Spent five years at GWS. Could be one to watch.

Mark McVeigh
Filled in as caretaker senior coach for the Giants this year, winning four out of his 13 games. Missed out on the top job at GWS to Adam Kingsley so is available.

Ash Hansen
Long considered a senior coach in the making, Hansen got a taste of what it is like when he took the reins of Carlton for a game this year when Michael Voss had Covid. Coached the Bulldogs to the 2016 VFL flag.

Jaymie Graham
Another one considered to be a senior coach in the making. Now at Fremantle Graham has also had stints at West Coast and the Saints, back in 2012. Dockers coach Justin Longmuir says he is ready to lead his own team.

James Hird
The Essendon legend put his hand up to be the senior coach of the Bombers. But is it just his former club he wants to be the senior coach of.

Leon Cameron
Took Greater Western Sydney to a Grand Final and three preliminary finals during his time in the Harbour City, which ended midseason. Has plenty of experience.

Don Pyke
Took the Crows to a Grand Final five years ago and has played a big role in Sydney’s assault on another premiership. Was forced to apologise over Adelaide’s disastrous preseason camp. Hard to know if that would be an impediment here.

Nathan Buckley
The former Magpie coach has said he won’t be coaching at AFL level in 2023. Doubtful he will change his mind.

Mark Williams
Remains one of football’s most outstanding people, but hasn’t coached at the level since 2010, even if he has worked at successful clubs in the years since.

What's David Noble's approach like?
Is he a ballbreaker/standard setter type?

I recall he dropped horne francis for being a sook didn't he? ballsy move.

Obviously didnt work at a bottoming out, young team.

But we need the opposite to the richo and ratts love-in approach.

Does noble offer that?
Is he a good tactician etc?

Highly doubt the guy that is in on the review ends up helping to appoint himself.

'"e knocked back interest from Carlton and Essendon over the past 18 months and was offered a job on Geelong’s coaching staff in the preseason.
St Kilda said today it hasn’t spoken to Ross Lyon about becoming its senior coach, but has vowed to act “quickly and decisively” to replace Brett Ratten.
Asked if the club had already spoken to Lyon, new chief executive Simon Lethlean said:”No, we haven’t ... we have made no decision”.
When pressed on whether the Saints would run a process for the next coach, Lethlean dodged the question, saying “we have uncovered what we need”.
The Saints refused to discuss plans for Ratten’s replacement, but club president Andrew Bassat said they had a clear view of the future."

Nice weasel words. Walsh doesn't start until Nov 1. Would already have spoken to Lyon about the job, but club can claim they haven't.

Good pickup. Very clever.

If the club are being ruthless and want the right person for the job- who cares how we found them?

All that matters is getting the best fit.

Besides- noble was just on the review wasn't he?
He wasn't running it.

Think about it- the whole point of doing a standard round of interviews of candidates is to find someone whose ideas match or exceed your clubs' ideas of what they need.

Maybe through his involvement in the review- we've heard noble's ideas and think they are a great match for what we as a club think we need?

Who cares if we heard about nobles ideas for us via the review rather than in an interview?
