another one of richos silent whacks for goddard.

Maybe he's just not ready.
Based on his handling of Acres I'm definitely giving Richo the benefit of the doubt here. No gifting games.

No mention of either Lee or Goddard in the "In The Mix" article on the Saints website, so it seems like we might not be going to go taller down back.

Mentioned Lonie, Murdoch ("23rd man" for us last week), Curren, Eli and Paddy Mac.
Possibly going in thinking that if we're smaller down back and therefore faster then the goals we'll gain from our fast transition will outweigh the goals we'll leak form being undersized.

I didn't think the Thomas tackle was all that bad. Poor result but I don't think the intent was there as much as it has been made out, especially by some sooks from Footscray.
He didnt intend to hurt him but he intended to take him high and stop him from playing on. Hopefully no one does it for a few weeks otherwise the AFL will overreact and we'll end up watching glorified touch footy

Footy seems tougher than ever to me unless people liked King hits during games. I don't know any rule that has been brought in that makes the game softer

It was there.

Lindsay was not in position to engage a tackle as Hunter was on the rise from ground level after collecting the ball, that Lindsay ended up behind Hunter after collecting him shows that he approached the contest too quickly, and that his arm was practically horizontal at the point of the contest shows that it was reckless in the least as he did not have time, position or awareness to properly engage a tackle, ergo his intent in entering the contest was to impede Hunter via front on contact and not a tackle.

He shouldn't be blamed for it, these are split second decisions and he should be commended for going hard at it despite how it ended up, but he should also be lambasted as it was a collection of poor instances with him, and it did result in a forearm to the jaw which slipped to the neck and cease a forward & up momentum build to down & back via that contact, and if you believe the medical reports, also caused delayed concussion in Hunter.

1 week is fair.

They may bring in Nahas?
He has to be upgraded.

We have turner, Thomas, garner and Anderson all out, so we have no choice with Nahas who is more of a good VFL player, than a standard afl quality player.

Mason Wood will come in for Turner, with Wood being 192cm, rebounding maybe easy, but statistically we are ranked 1st for pressure as the dogs found out with our 90 odd tackles.

The saints play a similar, but different style of pressure footy and are playing really good footy ATM, best of luck.

Lindsay Thomas is a dirty player - he has a bad track record. I am gonna go with intentional tackle.

Richo did say this year would be no gifting of games snd the players would have to earn it

can just about bet your house we'll give a free kick away straight after the first bounce. which will give them an easy clearance

if I was a betting man I'd put some cash on Waite for first goal for this reason

I think the ranking system is based off their last 50 games. So it's very much about consistency over a long period of time. No doubt Hickey will move up the ranks over this year if he keeps his form up.

This is why the AFL player rankings have Nick Riewoldt rated below Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead, Jack Riewoldt, Tom Lynch (GC), Jack Gunston, Josh Kennedy, Tom Hawkins, Justin Westhoff, Jarrad Waite, Kurt Tippett, Jack Darling, Taylor Walker, Charlie Dixon, Josh Jenkins, Matthew Pavlich and Drew Petrie as the 17th best key forward in the competition.

Sometimes a mistake is so egregious as to warrant an immediate dismissal. This proves the AFL player rankings ain't worth a warm bucket of excrement.

(Just for the record, the last 50 St Kilda games played is every game since Richo took over. Over that time Nick Riewoldt has played 45 games, had 546 kicks, 418 marks, 224 handpasses & 93 goals and been named All-Australian Centre Half-Forward and Vice-Captain once.)

Bolded Hickey's opponents Round 5-8. If he comes out winning 3 of these contests fair to say he's arrived.

Those ratings are a pile of shit.

When assessing a player's worth, data is good.

But eyeballs are better
