I'd be matching that and forcing a trade. Matt on that sort of deal is a good one for us if he stays.

Adding Matt to Sloane, Keays and Laird will be counterproductive to developing our future contending midfield. If we had the intestinal fortitude to force out any of the other 3 keeping Matt would be fine. Or if there was any inclination that we'd a midfield deeper than 4 blokes.

This. Sloane’s days in the midfield are over. Play Laird, Crouch and Keays (as an interim until the replaced by Schoeey, Pedlar and whoever we draft this year) Sloane in the half forward line extends his career and makes us better up forward, while allowing for growth..

They are assuming Rankine wants out so will pay up for Kelly (who wants to stay here), north of 600k on a long term deal.

What about $800k x 2 years with a games played trigger of 2 more years at $400k/year. Not sure we'd have any target that would warrant using pick 6 in a trade though.
