I think she’s great. No problem with her whatsoever.

yeah, i don't have any particular problem
there's far worse ... taylor, brayshaw, mclachlan and russell are all way higher on the "nails down blackboard" scale
brereton is just so full of himself and/or shite
underwood has years of spouting inane bollocks to even get close

Can't complain beating a team that had won 7 in a row prior to last night. Our accuracy in front of goal in the first half gave us a nice advantage for when the rain started bucketing down after HT. Think GWS probably had the better of general play I have to say.

Gulden was sensational.

Florent probably had the worst performance of his career, but turned it around a bit after HT.

Hickey looks shot.

McLean was phenomenal at times. Amartey not sighted after a promising start.

Rowbottom was important in the middle, but he really, really needs to work on his composure.

i thought hickey looked better as the game went on ...

There are always apologists for poor
Performers.

The female cricket commentators impress me. Just really good voices to back up the knowledge. Love them. That’s all I’m hoping for for the AFL as it won’t take a lot to show the blokes up.

Kelli is bash at the beach quality IMO
Not bad content but shocking delivery.
Oh well, agree to disagree.

(And I am not an “apologist”, and the “poor performer” label is your subjective opinion, not established fact.)

Have always said her commentary isn't bad when she isn't putting on the gravelly growl. Don't know if it to try and fit in and sound more manly but if she just stuck with her normal speaking voice with a little enthusiasm, I don't think it would come across so forced.

but even that seems just a little pernickety
she generally seems to get the basics right ... you know, stuff like player names
we know what loudmouth boofhead taylor is like with names
her voice might grate ... but is it worse than brayshaw's overexcited fanboy hype-worship?
or worse than the infuriating sneering s******s that accompany every second thing fckng brereton pontificates about?
or worse than russell's contrived attempts at cometti-isms?

I get the Rowbottom impact point, but if he is more impactful than Gulden is I will eat my hat
I think two things can be true at once - Gulden can be the better player, Rowbottom the more impactful player.

I don't think anyone's individual performance so often translates to team success better than Rowbottom's. We just look the best team on the ground every time he is playing well in a way that doesn't seem to happen with anyone else really. To me that's damaging. It's not just doing amazing things that you and only you can do (like Gulden, who is a freak), because that's not sustainable. It's doing things over and over that create opportunities and play to our team's advantage and bring teammates into the game.

Was just my take. Like I said I never said he's the most polished or prolific. Gulden wins both those titles every day of the week. What I do know is that is the last time I am praising a Swan! **** me

ha ha mate I don't have any problem
with your view and I agree both can true at once. I enjoy your takes

I just think Gulden is more impactful than Rowbottom, not just because he is better, but because of what he is willing to do . Not having a go at rowbottom he leans more into the parker mould of handball quick to make it someone else's problem, where Gulden will kick and take the risk to create.

Just my opinion, happy with both. Rowbottom does the grunt work that's for sure

She’s a more masculine woman and in this day and age I don’t think that’s any big deal.

And if we are comparing female commentators, Daisy Pearce’s monotone, unmodulated drone is the most soporific sound on television.

All these commentators would do media training. Daisy must have been off sick the week they did vocal pitching.

pearce knows what she's talking about
no problem with her
again ... compared to most of the established male commentators, i'll take pearce and underwood

To each their own Kingy

Bookies just load up with the money. All it means is that not many are betting on us and plenty of nuffies are betting on the Blues.

which makes today's game even more interesting
i'm still struggling a bit to comprehend saints being where they are
carlton are riding the "we beat collingwood" wave ... we'll see how genuine that is

A really good performance last night and the synergy in this team keeps improving.

I wanna first acknowledge the three inclusions:

Hickey - Has been out the side for a couple of weeks to build some form and probably match fitness (given his injury history earlier in this year). There were moments in the game I thought Briggs was getting the top of Hickey especially around the third and early fourth quarter. He got some rest on the bench and really held himself together in the latter half of the fourth. I think his overall game was really good, provided 50-50 contests most of the time, helped with the spread in attack and defence. It also freed up McLean to do damage up forward.

Francis - Strong marking hands and appears to grow in confidence in one-on-one contests. His disposal efficiency by foot is still a working progress but I'm sure its something that can be improved on with time.

Stephens - Loved that aggression to attack the ball. While some of the kicking is still a bit questionable, his attitude was good and created some opportunities for others. A genuine gut runner to help with our attack and defence. I was really confident he would kick that goal from 50 m but alas Sam Taylor's fingers...Keep it up, this effort should surely keep him in the team.

The return of Mills:

Mills - Pretty sure he only started playing minutes at centre bounces after the start of the third quarter but damn was he influential. He was everywhere in the 3rd and 4th, diving, hand balling and spoiling for the team. Having him play well in the middle definitely helped the others play even better.

The player that deserves more praise:

McLean - This guy has really high footy IQ. Whilst his limitations are well spoken about on here, I feel more praise should be placed on the fact that he always does the right thing in 50-50 moments and is a genuine team player. That kick pass to Warner, the gut running to help out in transition, the strong marking and straight goal kicking. His form wasn't great at the start of the year but thankfully due to his versatility the coaches kept him in the side and he slowly got himself going for the year. In honesty, I feel like McLean embodies the concept of early 2000s bloods culture, he is a competitor and will always give his best for the team. Now hurry up and sign him beyond 2023 please.

The female cricket mob are the gold standard. Knowledgeable and great to listen to.
