If Crouch isn’t winning a clearance and he’s not applying pressure, look at his pressure acts and how slow he is, how is he stopping an uncontested attacking move? It’s one of the more bizarre explanations I’ve read especially when it’s his teammates winning clearances and not him. Is he a human shield?
The question isn't "Is Crouch good at this?" it's "How are other players worse?"

No one has been worse than Crouch this year as an inside midfielder?

Further, we have lessened the impact of Berry & Hately by returning him to the side.

Surely this is obvious for all to see.

They have to keep selling the idea that there has been progress or they're all going to get sacked.
Well unless the board are as clueless as some of the posters on here, the evidence is there for all to see, surely?

Honestly I'm not sure. Roo has been all over the place on this. Earlier in the year he was clearly not happy. In one of our recent games when he was commentating, he said he thought fans would be pretty happy with how we've been progressing. Not sure how Silvers and Olsen view our progress.

Schoenberg's been significantly worse.

Hately would be a step up on current form but it took him a while to find it. Berry maybe.

It's obvious. It's all about average games played per player. They are scared about commentators calling out how low our games per player is. That's why Brown, Crouch are locks regardless of form and why Milers was brought back before form warranted it. His contract had a bit to do with it as well.

Was there any upside to the SANFL game to note? One thing I did see is that our reserves kick to handball ration was something like 2.41, yet the AFL game was 1.21. Normally the former is better for wet weather footy, as you often want to just get the ball moving forward, rather than looking for a handball. Would be interesting to see why the disparity - and was it obvious in game style? How did the likes of Jones go, and where did they play him? I see he and Cook got a bit of the ball, and Newchurch got a couple of nice goals again. Would like to see all three of them in after the bye.
Not a heap..

But man.. i really like Nankervis.. still raw and has a lot of development to come.. but geez, he just looks like an exciting prospect..

I hope he gets a AFL call up this year just to get a run and

Compare their 2 games on the weekend and you tell me Berry is a maybe
Significantly less of the ball. equally bad disposal. equally unable to run out games. same number of "Clangers" despite having less of the ball.

Did get some clearances at least. But so far above his regular clearance stat that it could just be a "J. Jenkins - 13 tackles" level anomaly

Schoenberg's been significantly worse.

I'll give you Schoenberg & he was rightly dropped back to the sanfl until he sorts himself out.

Both Hately & Berry have been vastly superior as inside midfielders to Crouch... which is the point i & most of this board are making.

I'd definitely have Hately ahead of Crouch now. But a month ago the very idea of him having an AFL future was doubtful.

I just don't see Berry as being "vastly" better than Crouch though. He's just a younger version of Crouch. And people are imagining the future version of Berry when 2 or 3 hypothetical leap forwards have happened vs the old and busted version of Crouch.

Less time on ball.

Similar to Crouch.
72% disposal efficiency aint bad.
2 turnovers

Ok so lets look deeper:

13 contested possessions to 7. So Berry won more of his own ball, basically double.
Crouch smashed him for uncontested possession. Whats Crouch's strength again? To win contested ball or receive the ball with his penetrating kick? But guess what he didn't even kick it, 9 kicks and 18 handballs WTF?
8 clearances, of which 3 were Centre clearances with less CBA. Crouch 1 clearance for the game, I repeat ONE.
Tackles no comparison.

Its chalk and cheese, I am staggered you are advocating for Crouch. Perhaps you could give us the stats for how many times Crouch blocked or got in the way.

Hately - is only now ahead of Crouch because we are playing him as a midfielder... which is his natural position.

Berry has been streets ahead of Crouch - far better use of the ball & actually defends/pressures his opponent.

Not only that, Sam pretty much leads the comp in average pressure acts per game

Berry is a completely different player to Crouch .... in fact you could not get further apart in game style .

Crouch probably leads the comp in lowest average pressure acts for a midfielder...

You do understand the difference between CBAs and clearances?

Do you?

My point was it is pointless looking for a correlation between CBAs and total clearances.

It what world does opportunities i.e. CBA not correlate to actual clearances?

Literally this is amongst the most batshit things you’ve ever claimed.
