Consider how diabolical the bottom 25% of the umpiring talent pool is at AFL level. Then realise that they used to be the best VFL umpires before being forcibly promoted. Then realise the depths of umpiring shitness that the VFL would've had to pull from in order to compensate for the loss of their 'premium' personnel.

Shudder. I think having a saintly control of your temper will be a requirement of becoming a VFL coach going forward
