Lady at work retires tomorrow after 50 years service in the one job. Incredible really when you think about it.

I had a bit of a chat with her. She has seen so many changes in society and technology etc.Some good some not so.

In my time have struggled to see people get to 7 years pro rata long service so 50 years is amazing.

I don't really post on here much except banal history stuff and Ports logos but if bullying or sexism has pushed away Portia then maybe our BigFooty board isn't as great as I thought it was...

This board is great. I'm not the only one where this board has kept a person sane during some seriously shit times IRL. Very now and then people crack the shits and quit, but most come back. BigFooty Port board gets in your blood. Portia has left before and returned.

Channel Nine news promo about calls for "an iconic Aussie rock band" to change its name. I figured that maybe Mental As Anything's time was up, but no - PETA wants Hunters & Collectors to add "of Antiques" to their name because they say the current name encourages animal cruelty

my work is similar we have and old bloke who retires this year at 51 years service he started in 1966

I know a lot of reasonable vegans and vegetarians but the nutters always give them a bad name. Most of the time I think the pushy ones hurt their cause and make people head the other way.

agree. I'm fully for prevention of cruelty to animals, but I can't abide those who don't seem to recognise our omniverous background as a species with their opposition to others eating meat (or using leather for clothing etc.).
