Seth Campbell has a bit about him.

Gibcus has had a few decent moments.

It's time to roll the dice on a few more 18-22 year olds and see what they've got.

I still think going the tank a year earlier (forget the big acquisitions) and maybe getting to grab Sanders and another young gun would've been a better idea for the rebuild.

Could any players have been moved on while they had some value, to get some draft capital?

I feel bad for Yze, he's been left with a mess.

Some of your clubmates look to be getting a bit over-excited here. :)

Our team has for the most part today looked totally disjointed, so it gets tough to judge individuals confidently. When you look at the make-up of the team today there are only 11 Tigers who have played more than 30 games for Richmond in their roles. New coaching panel.

Gibcus, Campbell and young Maurice have looked decent enough today, and there are plenty of other youngsters/inexperienced players playing, Young, Ryan, Ross, Dow, Koschitzke all 23 or younger bar Young who has played about 80 games of footy at any level in his life.

Selection will be interesting with Dusty, Lynch, Nankervis, Graham and probably Mansell back and Sonsie available. One thing the club will be encouraged by today with a view to the next 6 or 7 years is Balta forward, he has a lot to learn there but has looked lively at times.

I actually thought Balta did his best work up the ground, helping in ruck and around the scrimmages. That and CHB I'd see as his best roles (Mooney had a phase doing pretty well in these roles), but there's no getting around the fact Richmond needs forwards.

Kozzy is not the answer.

Gibcus was a mixed bag for me. Had composure sometimes but not others. Strong sometimes but not others. He has time on his side but is a couple of years away at least from being a good KPD.

Young is a limited player.

Ross as a sub? Nope, he should be starting.

It was hard to tell Ryan was playing.

MRJ had his moments and Campbell was good.

Hopper ended up having a good game.

It's a list that looks in no man's land and that will need to be addressed by future drafts.

Mind naming the priority picks and naming the respective flags? I interested how it would compare to your f/s picks.

Alex Rance.

Best defender of all time I heard.

Ablett Jr is just a scab, Scarlett isn’t a patch on Rance and Hawkins is vastly inferior to Jack Riewoldt so you guys did way better out of it.

Yay, let’s lose and get handouts!!!!

Theres some decent supporting cast types in there. Young Campbell in particular looked promising on debut (?)

You lack the legit difference makers though. The Cotchin, Jack, Lynch, Dusty replacements.

The Balta experiment was ridiculous. Put him on King from the start and you might have kept it to 50 unanswered points rather than 74. That's the game right there.

But in all seriousness, Richmond aren't that far off...but a top 10 pick at minimum is required this year and next.

Get that done, hopefully Yze is the man, add some free agents, and there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Of course, you could have started that 2 years ago by not picking up Taranto AND Hopper...but Dimma was in snake oil mode, there's not much you could have done.

Nope. 4 premierships over 15 years including 6 grand final appearances and an off the charts win loss record is a dynasty.
A dynasty is sustained excellence over generations.

It's long-term players racking up 25+ finals starts over a career. It's 350 gamers not even losing 100 games over a career. It's three consecutive captains leading the club to premierships. It's not missing the second week of September in back-to-back years since 2002/03. It's practically every long-term player drafted or traded in from the late 1990s to the late 2010s becoming a premiership player. It's three seasons in the last 20 years where the last home & away game was a dead rubber. Last time Geelong dismissed a coach was 35 years ago, also the last coach who failed to take the Cats to a grand final.

A dynasty isn't dominating for a few years, then the wheels completely falling off, despite how much some people want it to be.

Funny that you don’t care about successive flags but you do with successive finals campaigns. Like what even? and you think it’s just a COINCIDENCE that you a Geelong supporters thinks that and the Cats didn’t achieve it. Wow shocker. This is copium on the highest level.

Facts are facts to be in the dynasty club you actually have to achieve the same things they did. Which was:

1. At least 3 flags

2. At least 1 b2b

You don’t meet the criteria. The End.

Only three flags? Cute.

So out of our 3 flags there was only 1 player and he only played in 1 flag and you don’t even rate him.

Sorry man but I got to ask are you feeling ok?

Exactly. All above is very true.

Dynasties are sustained success over a long period of time. Which we did

And you think it’s just a COINCIDENCE that you, a Tigers fan who probably has a doll of a Geelong mascot with pins in it and sees a therapist about his BigFooty interactions, thinks that a dynasty has to have back to back flags? No you make a great point again

That’s the way it’s gonna be, little Tigers
We’ll be s**t and get high draft picks, yeah yeah
Way up in the draft, little Tigers
After we win, we’ll disappear, disappear
It's a weird timeline for them

2022: "We're not s**t. In fact, we're still great, great enough to beat the Cats in the finals!!"

Late 2022: "Okay, maybe we're a little bit s**t...but that's okay, we're getting Taranto & Hopper!! Especially Hopper, let's stick it to those Geelol idiots!!! Flag here we come baby!!"

2023: "Guys, guys...you don't understand. We were supposed to be s**t this year. Dimma is mailing it in, and Hopper & Taranto are meant to help us 5 years from now. Not right now"

Late 2023: "F**k Hopper is a spud. We should have let Geelong take him. Him and Taranto have set us back 10 years. At least Yze is the right man for the job"

Early 2024: "Yze's sold the dream to the board that we're still in contention. Hopper, Taranto, Dusty, Lynch...ambush season is coming!!"

Literally two quarters into the 2024 season: "Yze was weak as piss as a player, and now he's made our club weak as piss too, sacked by round 15. Hopper & Taranto have set us back 10 years, they're both ****ing spuds. At least we're getting a top 5 pick to rebuild properly"

*********************
The point being...

How the f**k are we supposed to take Richmond seriously when their own suppoters can't even decide where they're at?

Um no man just look at the Dynasties and you can see the B2Bs !!!! It’s in the books 🤣🤣🤣

Campbell was on debut after an injury ruined first season and he is only just turned 19. Tough to know what he could do but you never know if a player like this can get to the level of say a Zorko. The club would be happy with his debut though not a dominant one, but that would be too much to expect.

Balta I think they will persevere forward regardless of match results or oppo keys kicking bags. He was lively today, though has a lot to learn, the club probably thinks what is to be lost playing him forward/ruck this season. I tend to agree with that. If it cost games Richmond gets better draft picks. If it wins games, happy days. Our key backs are definitely going to get exposed at times though, I agree with that. I guess that is part of building a team.

I just don't think the club was in any position to pass over Hopper and Taranto. Dow played inside mid today and got 6 touches. Prestia is past his very best. You can't go into AFL games with a totally uncompetitive inside midfield, your team loses all drive and structure, putting pressure on the development of the young players in other arts of the ground.

Let's see how the team looks with Lynch, Dusty, Nankervis and later Graham back and a more normal schedule from rd 3 onwards. We definitely need a gun inside mid and gun key forward of the future, 25yo or younger right now. Million a year type players. The money will be there to try to get them, it is just whether the right players are available and want to come, same as for plenty of other teams.
