Would make the spectacle even worse.

Not to mention, it's a huge benefit for what will be mostly a lucky shot (with some exceptions obviously - Curry would hit them from there semi regularly).

It was a joke. ;)

I watch Pelicans games here and there but my interest has diminished.
NBA made its regular season meaningless by letting 20 of 30 teams qualify for the postseason, compared with 12/30 in MLB or 14/32 in the NFL (which are arguably too many for them as well). That's why that had to bring in the NBA Cup to try and drum up a modicum of interest. What other professional league has its season's games as part of a Mickey Mouse trophy that nobody cares about? (In before McClelland Trophy)

The NBA Cup is a joke and nobody cares about it at all. They need to bin that off.

I agree way too many teams make the playoffs. They need to bin off the play in and just get back to 16 teams making the playoffs.

The big problem with the regular season is that all the star players just dont play enough games, the whole load management shit is absolute wank. With the way they take care of their bodies nowadays and the advancement in conditioning and medical and physio and then to play less games than blokes did 20 years ago is a joke.

It massively hurts the league.

Think the NFL is spot on really. In such a short season, if only 8 teams made it (as an example), large parts of the league would essentially be playing for draft spots so early in the season.

MLB is also right I think.

The NBA is absurd. It's harder to miss playoffs than make them.

I’ve seen suggested getting rid of corner three in NBA but that’ll have possibly even more.

Other suggestion includes limiting three attempts to say 25-30 per team a game.

Baseball was getting boring when analytics dominated and teams were shifting fielding, heaps of relief pitching and matched we’re getting longer and boring. Couple of years put in some rule changes that many think has improved the game.

NBA needs a change ..boring and been getting worse for a few years.

Read somewhere Boston attempted 80 threes in 1986 and had as many as first 8 mins of a recent game! F*** that!

Doubt they'll change anything. Even if they did, are people more likely to watch again now if they got rid of the 3 and scores were lower? I'd doubt it. Only speaking on my behalf but that wouldn't make me want to watch anymore than I do now.

Reduced threes I would

How does that make the game better? Will the defences aim up more?

The spacing would likely be similar, would just mean more mid range 2's being shot.
more everything else. Have you seen the games this season or highlight video someone just posted?

Seen highlights of various games (no idea which one you're specifically referencing).

How does that promote more everything else? Teams are all built a certain way. They're not all of a sudden going to be great in the post because you take away the corner 3.

Oh well rebuild. More transition play, post up, more defence, more midrange shots, more physical maybe big guys make a bit of comeback...more 90s ball

Look at the recent changes to baseball. Banning the shift has meant more groundballs, more running between bases, stolen bases highest in over 25 years. Teams had to adapt.

Here's one for why Basketball has gone downhill, can you imagine the Knicks playing defense this way in the 90's?

I am sure if you hack into the players emails, you’ll find the mass email thread from years ago with every player in the league agreeing that defending is dangerous so no one will defend anymore.

Perhaps even an agreement that the first option everyone will take is the 3 point option. Exhibit A ^ (that clip), not slam dunking that shit for an easy basket.

This is exactly why it doesn't matter what you do with the 3 point line/shot, until there's a mindset shift defensively, viewing will continue to decrease.

That's just crap. Wouldn't be ok in a preseason game ffs.

It's too sanitised. Everyone is friendly with each other, they're no storylines or proper rivalries outside of lakers vs celtics (just) and technicals are handed out for nothing. Rules have been adapted to make scoring easier and defence harder for years.

Ironically I think the first team that starts playing hard/tough defense is going to end up with a lot of bandwagon support. Seems to be a lot of the overall fan base pining for that to come back.

If I was a small market team, I'd strongly consider making that move. Make it hard for teams to come to your place etc.

Yeah this is a real problem. Saw Lebron lose by like 40 the other day and after the game he's all smiles and doing made up handshakes with Kevin Love after the game and giving Adebayo a hug and shit. Like bro, they just handed you your ass and you're all mates about it.

I know it's the old, it didnt happen in my day. But well, it didnt. All the players basically hated eachother, or at least did as soon as they crossed the white line. It was all business. There was no nice guys. Magic wasnt a nice guy. Larry wasnt a nice guy. Isiah wasnt a nice guy. Jordan wasnt a nice guy. Kobe wasnt a nice guy.

Orlando and OKC are the 2 teams that come to mind there.

On another note.
