No, if we had won it we would have finished 14th above Fremantle.

Only if you beat Geelong by about 12 goals... Fremantle has 6 wins aswell, but a higher percentage.

And even if you beat Geelong, like Essendon, they would have fumbled the next round. That's what comes with a young side unfortunately..

Look mate... I know you've obviously spent some quality time producing these stats, but you're talking about a NAB challenge game here. No one cares. The players, coaches, club... it means nothing.

Making statements like the one above show you really have no idea about what you're talking about. A handful of good players don't win 2 flags in 3 years for a club. A team wins flags, a strong club even. Geelong's young players are very good and have been for years. Comparing Richmond and Geelong atm on any level is lame.

Richmond are a losing club with a bunch of players who don't play for each other. Richardson the prime example. Great player yes, terrible team man ABSOLUTELY! He put that club backwards and never gave a toss about anyone else but himself. His retirement is a + for the club.

Fair enough to take positives wherever you can, you probably have the right... but many have been made to look foolish by judging teams in pre-season, don't put your hand up to join that group.

Look mate thats a stupid call i can tell you.Richo is good friends with a mate of mine and knows Richo would die for the the Tiges. It was his life his old mans club to boot, no pun intended.
Your comments are immature and uneducated to say these things about someone you know nothing about or his intentions to ruin a club he was born to.
Bad and disturbing form:thumbsdown:

Tigerbob summed it up. We won. We're happy. We're even a bit incredulous by the margin. We saw enough to believe Beavis is implemtenting a new game plan and the boys are learning it. We liked seeing that our new recruits this year know how to play the game. In summary, we liked the win.

Geelong are still one of the best teams in the league and our win means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

qft.

I think we play you around Round 5, down at Geelong too. Naturally it's the only time we play you this year, again.

You are kidding right? Prior to last year count how many times you had us twice? 2007 spring to mind

Why we even have to go to skilled every year is a disgrace- Consider bulldogs, st kilda and hawthorn are all exempt.
Teams we reguraly pull bigger crowds than..

When was the last time they went to skilled??
Given this, we deserve to only get the premiiers once given we came second bottom!

Yeah, Richo was so selfish, playing all those games with injuries that would have kept plenty of blokes out.

This does nothing to show he was a 'team man'. The same argument can be put forward that he did it for personal reasons. I applaud him for doing it but don't see how this helped the club win games.

So selfish when he repeatedly put his body on the line. So selfish when he spat it and refused to play on the wing in the twilight of his career.

Pfft.. He should have NEVER given up a key forward position. Instead running around getting dozens of useless possessions while his team gets belted in the same games??? Oh yeah, he's all about the team alright. Get a clue!

So selfish when he invited first gamers to leave the field with him in milestone games.

Oh, is this after he spent a good portion of the game yelling and cursing at the same young team members for not doing what 'he' expected during a game? I said before, great player yes... bad leader/team man YES!

So selfish when he went way beyond the call of duty off the field for the club.

Beyond the call of duty for a 250+ game player?? Questionable. He enjoys the media and obviously eyed out a career for HIMSELF after footy... again debatable.

This would have to go down as one of the dumbest, lamest, most uneducated posts ever posted on big footy, EVER!!! You really are a twit of biblical proportions.

Let me say very clearly that if half the 3 legged donkeys we've had play for richmond over the last 15 years showed an ounce of heart and emotion that richo did then we wouldn't be the basket case club we are today. He was the only reason us tiger fans have remained so loyal and went to watch the team play. Anyone who has met richo will know what a kind hearted, unselfish human being he is and always goes out of his way for the fans. His charity work is phenomenal. His occasion acts of petulance on field purely and simply proves how much he bled for this club and wanted it to succeed on field.

Have your cry, whinge whatever... the same fact remains though. Richardson's white line fever changed him into a selfish player who worked hard on his own, not for the team. A 250+ game player with his status screaming and whinging at young team mates on field is the definition of selfish! I've played/been around football long enough to know this as a staple.

I would like someone to explain to me why he tried to play a midfield, behind the ball type role in his latter years. Absolutely pointless for the club moving forward. They still got smashed like the bunch of witches hats they are anyway so why?? Why didn't he sacrifice his ego and play at half/full forward where he should have? The answer inevitably is, because HE wanted to play that role. He was never even captain for christ sake and still did what he wanted. No wonder the club is a joke!

You totally misread what I meant. The point was we hardly ever play you at the MCG:

2005 - once at MCG (Ottens' first game for us), once at Geelong
2006 - once at Geelong
2007 - once at Telstra Dome, once at Geelong
2008 - once at MCG, once at Telstra Dome
2009 - once at Geelong
2010 - once at Geelong

So we'll only play you twice at the MCG in 6 years. Not exactly consistent is it? To answer your question Hawthorn's last visit was 2006, Footscray's in 2008 and St.Kilda's in 2004. It's seemingly impossibly for us to play St.Kilda anywhere but Telstra Dome now.

Yes, you have hit the nail on the head there PB. Not many people know this, but Richo actually was a monster and forced the coaches to play him wherever he liked. Which was, of course, in the glory-seeking wing position, rather than boring old full-forward, where nobody notices you.

Honestly PB, there is a tiny spark of truth in the assertion that Richo occasionally let his emotions get the better of him to the detriment of the team, but you have drowned it in a mile-high pile of ridiculous garbage.

Although he's obviously a great bloke off the field who had a fantastic career, Richmond's performance during his career was pathetic. He couldn't lead the team. For this reason his prolonged career meant nothing to the club and will not help them moving forward. His retirement will.

You're way out of your depth here. Richo had poor games as a forward v North & Collingwood; Wallace then moved him up the ground to make the team less predictable and to develop other options in attack. As Richo himself said, it was either that or out of the side altogether. If you've got an issue, take it up with Terry.

You have no clue, you little, pathetic boy.

You want to sit behind your computer masturbating at your ill informed pot shots at an AFL legend, go right ahead. Let me clear it up for you though.

You look like a complete moron, and I hope, for the good of this world, you are still involved in the education system so that you can develop out of this stage. Then again, I have little faith in the education system so I will label you as a lost cause in any case.

Matthew Richardson was told by Terry Wallace for the good of the club going forward, he would have to leave the forward line for the likes of Jack Riewoldt and Mitch Morton to develop. Richo, like he has done right through out his long, outstanding career, did what the coach asked. Terry admitted later on, he never thought the move would benefit Richo so much like it did in 2008. It was all about the good of the club, the mantra Matthew Richardson lived by.

Knowing Matthew through my coterie memberships and functions all these years as well as seeing him out and about, I know he only had the good of the club in his heart. For anyone to question that needs a reality check. He is a model citizen, a guy that looks first at others before himself and a rarity in professional sportsmen/women, he has no ego.

Now run along junior, the adults are trying to have a conversation....
