Tigers smash cats!

Might help the Tiges sell a few more memberships this week.

Say What??

Despite all of us knowing we are going to have a bad year we are still getting pretty good membership numbers, more than your mob last I checked.....

Not bad all things considering. I don't think it is fair to say we are bandwagoners that jump on when times are good or we win a game!

30 years of pitiful decisions and performances and we are always getting behind our mob.

Carlton current total: 28,290
Richmond current total: 28,826

Go figure hey! Good to see you guys are worried also by introducing an new $80 3 game membership package....Should push the numbers up significantly for you.

I went for a country drive yesterday for the game. The ground at Yea looked fantastic. The seating or lack of was an issue, if you werent at the front then you couldn't see much. But it was a fantastic atmosphere none the less.

2 bars for 4000 people was never going to work though. lol.

Geelong looked ok on the field, very fit, young side on the park. Scarlett and Chappy looked good too.

Richmond however were young and most players unknown but their passion and attack on the ball was inspiring to watch.

No one at Yea really cared who won they just wanted to see a good game and have a good day which i think they did.:thumbsu::):D

They are Bigfootys version of the 9/11 terrorists - they'll just hijack anything and crash it

As I said, I think you'll find it was a Geelong poster who insisted on bringing Hawthorn into it.

I just chimed in to respond.

You'll really have to get over this obsession with us, you know? ;)

Yes i guess youd say Burgoyne Rioli and Hooper are all vying for our best forward pocket posi:thumbsu: Plus one other slight difference, well two really we smashed the Tiges you got smashed by them:thumbsu: and the other is we got smashed by flag favorites and you by wooden spoon favorites:thumbsu:

remind us all again who are the flag favourites?

we all thought it was you guys?[/quote]
you got smashed , we got smashed, who cares. We're the reigning premiers , you were, matters nothing in Feb. My only concern is that we don't continue the year like you guys did. I think it's a real possibility that we could be playing catch up footy all year. 3 Grand Finals in 3 years is rare and awesome and if we crash out this year due to injuries, form, delayed starts, age etc, it's not the 1st time, is it Hawks, and it's not the end of our era unless we have a mass exodus. And then, we look forward to getting back up there again. Sometimes the chase is better than the catch, but I'm real glad we have at least 2 flags to our credit while we've been on top- some teams never get 1, and sadly Saints and Dogs can NOT both win it this year. That's where the pressure is this year. We have nothing to prove. Another year of finals would be a bonus for me, but not a right. What I've seen of Richmond, NM.,Port, Freo, they could ALL improve and make the 8 on current form
BUT, nobody ever won the marathon during the warmups.

You know what I love about this thread, Richmond supporters are so honest and enjoy a laugh and a win, they expect to have a good season and improve from last year as does all teams, if this story was about Carlton beating Geelong in Yea, all they would be talking about is the flag is finally sitting on our doorstep.

Good for you Richmond. I hope you have a good 2010 and make an impression this year.

Classy post.:thumbsu:

Good luck to the lions.

Going to be a fevabulous year for your team.:D

Richmond has the most loyal fans in the league and over the lean years the club has more or less avoided tanking and checkbook success (ala Geelong from mid 90's to mid 00's). I hope the Tige's can have success both on and off the field this season - except if 4 points vs Geelong is involved :D After the Dogs, they are the next team I hope to see win a flag - sadly I think it's still a long way off.

The cats have played most of their premiership 22 in the first two weeks of the pre season, half in the first game, half in the second (rooke i think is the only excpetion) thats a good sign..pretty sure this time was scheduled to get 1 game under each belt, build some match fitness then use the last two weeks of the pre season to get the whole team together and be ready for a round 1 launch..

So in regards to the cats form, its not ideal but as long as we're fit and firing for round 1, i dont thinkanyone cares about their form.

im particularly interested in the following names rather than results..Duncan and pods as players who can earn a spot for 10-12 games this year and varcoe and hawkins who are ready to take the next step and improve their game, as the roles/minutes of Mooney, milburn etc begin to decline..

On the tigers front, good to see em get a win, and most importantly, no key injuries to either team!!

Good post, agree with just about everything, except what I've highlighted. Duncan showed a bit of skill against North, and Podsiadly is flavour of the month, but neither have done anywhere near enough to suggest they deserve 10-12 games in our senior side. Who do you drop for starters?

Looks like a bulldogs v tigers grand final this year ;)

Haha.... Not if Michael Jamison has anything to say about it!!!!!!!!!

The Tigers have the 'wood' on us now just like Collingwood, oh no!

Lol, How many times have we beat you in the past 3 years? Once?

Got close once, should have won another, but the rest of the time you have flogged us. Hardly call that having the wood on you!

Well done Tigers. Even tho it was only a practice game by smashing the Cats by that margin will harm their confidence. I really think cats are on the way out. It will be interesting to see how they go in the first couple games of the 2010 season. Great effort Tigers

Funny how the commentators on K-Rock (Geelong Station) kept raving on about how we were so much more experienced than the Cats team.

Here's the stats for the game, thanks to LeighW.

Richmond
Total games: 1450 (average 50)
7 Debuts
5 over 100 games
1 over 200
1 premiership player
1 Brownlow medalist

Geelong
1801 games (ave 62)
9 Debuts
9 over 100 games
3 over 200 games
11 premiership players
1 Brownlow medalist

Looking at that you say our kids have to be a lot better than Geelong also you would say once Geelong don't have some of these experienced players to come back into their team in a year or 2 they're in for a very steep fall.

I have been thinking for a while now that complaining that X number of players were out as the reason for a really bad performance was really just saying "our depth is crap".

Of course, the reverse isn't necessarily better...eg, Richmond, where the depth players are only a little bit worse than the 'stars'. :(

12 current premiership players moron
so what your saying moron is they had about 12 out too?????
it supprises me the amount of hawthorn people that are ripping into geelong, they just need to have a good hard look at there last years performance:confused::confused:
