I grant you that …. Was more thinking of some trash he picked up from gws after he loaves to you guys …. Still he likes to double down

He does, but as I said earlier in the thread, this is a very different situation. Nobody is getting TDK at a bargain basement price.

He never thinks he's wrong and wants to prove to everyone what a genius he is, even though facts show the opposite

What are teams going to have to give up to satisfy Carlton in a potential trade?

If the rumoured contract sizes are indicative of his market value then someone is not only paying overs in salary, they will be doing so at the trade table too.

If TDK ends up getting $750-800k a year then I'm immediately thinking about other players who have moved recently on similar deals.

Cerra (early 1st) and Taranto (2x late 1st's) come to mind. Seems like a lot for somoene yet to play a good game.

Which is highly consistent with narcissism.

Him and Dodoro should work together just for the shits and giggles
Speaking of narcissism…

No wonder they’re mates. Birds of a feather flocking together.

Was SOS the recruiter when TDK was drafted?

Man is obsessed with his previous decisions.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if SOS doesn't really want TDK, especially on big dollars, and is more than likely trying to force us to pay big dollars to keep him.
You would imagine that King will attract big offers as well and if they managed to get TDK and retain King, that would be a lot of money tied up in two players. At least King has shown more than TDK so far.

King is already contracted until the end of 2026 and and is only on 750k

I don't think it would be an issue at all to fit a big contract for DeKoning as we'd have plenty of cap space currently, it's just whether we think he's worth it

Personally I don't

At a wedding with one of the Dekoning's close family friends and reckons he'll be staying at the Blues or heading to the Pies which was a surprise to hear. Apparently not much interest in joining up with Sam at the Catters.

No idea what ends up happening but another step in the right direction last night.
Pretty sure one of our in the knows said he was likely to re-sign to the end of 2025 to prove his worth.
Unless he has some kind of break out season where all these ridiculous offers start rolling in.

As much as I like him and can see the potential, I agree, he's not worth it.
If the huge offers roll in, I'd prefer the club not to try and match and to wish him well and tell him to take the big coin... if that's what he was after.
He's still a 2nd ruck and 3rd or 4th fwd option. His leap is good in the ruck, but I find he tends to misjudge his timing a lot of the time and jumps too early, coming down before the ball and having to have a second crack at it. He could dominate the ruck if he gets his timing right.

I think he ends up being a decent ruck, but no better than what we have in Marshall and I just don't see him being much of a threat forward.

I also don't see the value in paying big money to rucks (unless you are Max Gawn)

He has the potential to be a very good key forward. Loves to fly for the big marks and Can take a contested mark. I see him similar to Peter wright.

Carlton have mcckay and curnow, so he can’t play down forward permanently. He was forced to play ruck last season when pittonet got injured and he struggled due to fitness and size.

With Hawkins coming to the end, he would be a perfect fit for the cats.

12 goals in 42 games doesn't scream potential key forward to me.

He's also taken a total of 4 marks in 2 games this year which is similar to his career average of 2.5 marks a game.

Does not scream key forward to me.

Rowan Marshall was well ahead of him at the same age and really don't show a great deal when we threw him forward

If he wants to play mostly ruck you wouldn’t think he be that interested in coming to us, given the fact we already have Marshall- who’s just gone back to playing the no.1 ruck role- who is much better in the ruck than as a marking target up forward.

Collingwood makes a good deal of sense if they’re selling him on the no.1 ruck role.

From our understanding he just wants to have an important role in the team. At Carlton, Pittonet is better in the ruck and he's competing with the leading lanes of Mckay and Curnow meaning he barely ever gets targeted when up fwd. Other teams can have him do his split of ruck time and then have him go forward as their 2nd best option meaning he'll get his chance to shine.

From what we're hearing lately though it's sounding like if he continues to play he'll be signing for a couple of years with the Blues and chase the payday next time. A wait and see.

It would be good business to sign Tom for two years on decent, but not ridiculous money, perhaps with some good incentives and match payments. We are home for him at the moment and clearly entering a serious flag window to tick off the pinnacle of most players’ wish lists.

A good each way bet to take him to free agency and a bidding war.

If he gets offers too good to be true, he can be excused for being mercenary and we will pocket some high end draft capital.

If you actually become a premiership threat by then and he leaves, the best you will get for him is a very late first round pick.

Not what I'd call high end draft capital

I think it all depends on how Carlton go this year, with the Cats current form he’d probably want to look elsewhere.

Mid first because of his enormous salary. Will be a good player but still requires a lot of work. His brother is a more natural footballer.

That's what is happening. Expect announcement soon around 2 year deal. He wants to stay
