TDK tracks very similar to Tim English who is now one of the dominant rucks in the comp, despite looking very ordinary and out of place when he was young.. I expect to see some huge development in his ruck craft as he builds the body and tank to play as a genuine number 1 ruck.. I am not convinced he will ever be a capable stand alone forward.
English dominate?

English finished top 10 in Dogs B&F at 22.

English was at least kicking a goal a game at the same age. He was a more than capable forward.

He was also taking close to 5 marks a game compared to TDK's 2

He looked too skinny and weak as a ruckman earlier in his career.

He was also a late developer and in the system a year less than TDK

And he hasn't proven to be a threat at all forward. He hasn't kicked a goal and averages two marks a game.

I get he's 23, but he isn't 19. He'll be 24 in a few months time, most of the comps best rucks were ahead of where he's at at the moment.

What would you suppose he'd be worth in a trade?
Trending similarly to English at the same age. Needs to stick more marks but for the most part is a bit of a decoy for McKay and Curnow. Screenshot_20230402-104717.png

English didn't have McKay and Curnow in the forward line to compete with.

He did have Aaron Naughton and Josh Bruce that year who kicked almost 100 goals between them so I think that's a bit of a cop out.

The fact he only averages 2 marks a game is not a great sign that he'd ever become a genuine threat forward.

I did ask earlier, but what do you think he's worth in a trade?

It's been 3 games, let's check in on his averages after a decent block of games. Nic Nat averages 1.7 marks across his career, not sure why you're obsessing over the marking stats for a ruck.

Nic Nat is very different footballer than TDK, I'm not sure that needs to be explained.

And the average is fairly similar over his career.

Marks are pretty important if he's going to ever become a threat forward like has been suggested.

You obviously aren't going to answer my question, just argue wirh anyone that doesn't value him as a high pick

You actually haven't said anything though, you just keep changing the goalposts. I've stated my opinion, he's being overhyped, but if he was to leave we'd get more than a second for him, I think most would agree. Anyway, he's about to re-sign so it doesn't matter.

You continue to quote me yet refuse to answer the simple question. Wouldn't think it was that hard.

No idea how I've changed the goal posts. I've been very consistent with why I think he's not worth a high pick.

He's behind most of the best rucks at the same age. The only good comparison you have is English who played more if a forward role and was actually a threat.

Even Rohan Marshall was out performing him at the same age and it was the first year he's played as a ruckman.

I think the Rhys Stanley comparison is a fair one.

There is a fair chance you do end up getting overs for him though, just due to the ridiculous hype around him. That was the original point I was making though which was that I hope we don't chase him as he is only WORTH a 2nd rounder

Just stating he is worth more than a second isn't answering my question at all

That could be anything from 2 firsts to pick 18

Anyway, no need to keep going around in circles. The kid has a bit of potential but is a fair way behind the best rucks in the comp at 23/24 and a long way behind the best key forwards.

Those are just the facts

FMD that’s a relief

Agreed.

If it is true, I am very happy to see him remain in navy blue for a further 2 years, with a contract that likely reflects his output rather than projected value at the end of that contract period.
