According to our 'ITK posters' just under 600k for 2 years to bring him to FA.
I think that is a slight over payment, but happy with it. I see him as a really versatile player who could potentially go back. His leap is great, but he often gets pushed under the ball. He is slowly bulking up and when he develops more strength he will hold his position. I see him as a forward who alternates in ruck. I still don't think he can play a full game in ruck. I have noticed in first parts of games and quarters he rucks really well, but he seems to get fatigued with all the body contact and battering he gets. Then he goes quiet which is why I think Carlton need a ruckman like Pittonet as the type of ruckman who halves most contests. De Koning has a potential to tap to advantage, but only when not fatigued. That will change as he builds strength. I think as a forward he is dangerous and helps Curnow and Harry out.

Can't wait to see the same media types that hyped him up over summer start criticizing him once the deal is announced.
Nothing surer

The second he signs or leaves it will be scrutinised as to whether he was worth it but the thing with this one is it’s a long term investment so whilst a team may be paying more now that’s he’s worth he should be worth it by the end of the contract

Just don’t think he’s much of a ruckman. Plenty of tools to be a good KPP at either end.

That being said big guys do seem to often figure out ruck craft later in their career.

Starting to remind me of Nathan Vardy. Tall, agile, athletic, looks promising but delivers little of substance.

Not good enough to be number 1 ruck. Not competent to be a KPP down back or a 3rd tall up forward.
But apparently worth 800k or 2 first rounders in a trade! 😂😂🤭

I was ripped by a Blues supporter on here a few weeks ago for suggesting he's not worth more than an early 2nd

I wonder if they have changed their tune
I think the consensus opinion of Blues fans is that if a club is willing to pay him 800k a year for 5-6 years (as has been reported) then his value is most definitely more than a 2nd. Though his output is probably about a 2nd round value, it shows how much potential they must believe he has and thus we can use that as part of bargaining.

In the opposite circumstances Blake Acres last year probably had a value of around a late 1st/2nd rounder on his seasons output, but Freo refused to offer him more than basically a rookies wages. We got him for a pack of chips as a result and Freo didn't really have a leg to stand on as their offer to him was well unders signifying their view on his value/upside.

I think with some common sense from other clubs re TDK the max he should go for if he was to request a trade would be a late first and 500-600k contract. Right now he's all hypothetical upside and is yet to show he can translate that to consistent on field performances.

Don't think Acres was ever worth a late first round pick or even an early 2nd?

As for the 800k offers, I highly doubt there was any truth in that rumour

I don't think a 500-600k contract for a 24 year old ruck that is still yet to really get going is enough to warrant a first rounder either. That just sounds like your basic 2nd round trade to me

Acres was playing at AA level for half of last year pre injury, fell away a bit 2nd half. Regardless, he was worth more than what we got him for due to Freo's lowball offer and that was documented in the media.

And while I think it would be lunacy if the 800k rumours are true, Luke Jackson reportedly got 900 x 7 so who the hell knows. Either way if someone offers him that much I'd say he's worth a first comfortably.

If he gets the basic 500-600k contract offer then I think a late first/early second is about what I'd be expecting in return. All comes back to what a club thinks his upside is, I know we've rejected Geelong's offers for him twice now and both times they offered a late first.

Half a good season on top of a pretty bog average career does not make you worth a first round pick though. I think maybe you got him for slight unders but no more. I would have thought an early third would be fair for him.

Luke Jackson showed more as a 20 year old than DeKoning has as a 24 year old old so that is why he was offered a big deal like that.

500-600k is a pretty basic contract. I think he's going to have to prove himself a bit more than he has for the rest of the season if he's going to be worth a first. But clubs have been known to over pay I guess.

Hawthorn, Sydney, St Kilda listed as the clubs keen on TDK.

Lol, is SOS now going to target all out of contract Blues players...

Just like the good old target GWS player days...
