Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

For a out of the blue pick would not mind Xavier Walsh 195cm key forward with a huge leap
and is explosive on the lead
Been very injury prone but has tools most key forwards or backs dont have
Got a national combine invite
Can play back as well as forward

injury prone - Obrien will not be able to sign him up fast enough.

Happy to shop/swap around pick 30 if it lands us another/extra in the 30-40 bracket. Go one of Simpson, Haiste or possibly both as Vic country boys to go with Harley and then get one of the talls if possible.

On SM-G988B using BigFooty.com mobile app

Would like to do a deal with Geelong to get another pick. If Geelong are desperate could send 30 & 49 for 32 & 36 and hopefully go something like this

32 - Roberts
36 - Simpson
40 - ZZ

For those interested here’s a summary of todays live trades

• Saints traded their F3 to Melbourne for 42
• Saints traded 40 and 42 to Gold Coast for 27
• Brisbane traded 30,50,54,65 to Gold Coast for 24
• Fremantle traded 46,60,63 to Gold Coast for 38

* All of those trades were done before any bids. We had picks 23,37,58,81 so it’s hard to see how we could have bettered any of the Suns trades. However, we could have done better than the Saints offer to Melbourne with our own F3 which would have allowed us to use 37,42 for the Suns 27. Would our F3 and 37 for 27 been worth it given that 27 is now 33 and our 37 is 40. So we’d have given our F3 to move from 40 to 33 in real terms

• Adelaide traded 11,15,F2 to GWS for 8,17
• Essendon traded 11,31 to Geelong for 10
• GWS traded 18,F2 to St Kilda for 17

(Net result for GWS - using the picks in their original spots before bids was out 7,16,F2 for 10,13,F2(Adelaide). Drafted players (Leake and Gothard who won’t help in the short term) they could have taken without trades and have swapped F2 picks with Adelaide)

First takeaway is I’d love to know what our offer to GWS for their first pick was. They used two picks in the teens and received a potential small upgrade of their F2. If it was our F1 on the table as thought, then they’re nuts for walking away from it

So I doubt we were offering a straight F1 for Curtin style trade

Second takeaway is that for all the disappointment that we tried and failed to get back into the first round, based on the trades done the asking price would have been hefty. Essendon burnt 31 to move up one spot whilst GWS used their F2 to move up one spot in the teens

So as bombard posted earlier, our recruiters should be respected for trying to improve our hand but backing away from what may well have been bad deals

I’m frustrated at our draft position but that’s a result of a flawed draft system out of our control rather than incompetence

It’s half time, let’s see what tomorrow brings

I'm hoping Geelong come to us and we get 32 and 35, then trade our F2 for someone 30 to 40

I'd love to collect 3 of Simpson, Freijah, Sanchez, ZZ, Archer Ried
I was going to say our future 2nd is likely to be pick 19 or 20....but then I remembered our current pick 19 2nd rounder ended up at pick 30....so play on

Simpson sounds a good get from his profile though I’m not familiar with him.

George Stevens would also be a winner but he might be there for our next.
Simpson ✔

Instead of George stevens I would rather

I really wish some big time meadia head from WA or wherever would arc up and criticise the AFL, really call them out on how kn stupid and wrong it is that the club that came last has seen what should've been pick 19 pushed back that many places.
Also comment on how utterly stupid and deluded that comment from, was it Sonja Hood?, the comment re the draft from her was actually embarrassing and the type of thing David Brent would've come out with!
There doesn't seem to be one single fwd-pass licker in the current footy media that has the balls to say what we all know.

To be honest, the trade should of been down last week

WC F1 for Crows 10, 20 and F1 was an easy deal but we left it too late

1 pick in the top 20 is disgraceful

We weren't proactive at all

Picking Ried isn't enough, you can bank on your natural selection anymore

Have to split or bring picks forward

I really hope we're looking to bring forward R2 or R3 tomorrow

At any point do Gold Coast take into account that they are strengthening other team's lists when they trade to stockpile their shitty picks?

Pathetic system.

You're thinking of Laura Kane.

Interview with Rohan O'Brien (video on social media) suggested it was a straight swap offered, however, GWS wanted to remain in this draft. Which seems short-sighted, yes.

Crows have drafted Curtin, C Edwards and O Ryan (who seems a reach) and still have their F1

Who says they were even willing to do that trade given it seems obvious clubs weren’t willing to trade current picks for futures

We can always trade our R1 next year to Adelaide for a disgruntled Curtin and their R1 coming back

Or maybe just our R2 next year if he maintains his less than enthusiastic demeanour from tonight

Gold Coast and North can have a zillion picks but Reid, Ginbey, Hewett and next years 1,2 or 3 is going flag anyway in a few years. The way we attract a Walter / Collard / Curtin back is by being good, and I think we will be.

Love that we held it together and kept our ‘24 F1 despite the compromised AF R1 shitshow that was inevitable today. We are going to be fine, and I can’t wait to see who we add tomorrow
