I think you'll be surprised
We bottomed out with Deledio in 2004 and we won a flag in 2017.

Melbourne bottomed out with Watts in 2008 and won a flag in 2021.

Carlton bottomed out with Murphy in 2005 and still haven’t won a flag in 2024.

North Melbourne bottomed out in 2020 and have been bottom four for the past four years.

Not sure what sides have won a premiership after 6-8 years after completely stripping back everything.

I think you’re in for a big reality check next season.

Funny enough Didn’t play finals in 2016
Then won a flag

Point being people don’t know when our next flag is

Bullshit. The club topped up in the 2016 off season by recruiting Prestia, Nankervis and Caddy. The foundation of a premiership side was there given we played finals in the three years prior and had four absolute superstars on our list. 2016 was evidently a complete aberration.

agreed
Norf and WC are probably going to win more games next year, and then there’s a very even spread up to the top 7 or 8.
That leaves us as the worst team in the competition for 2-3 years.

This is not a bad thing, the timing is perfect for us.

VIC /SA/WA clubs in that mid ladder position that don’t have access to academy selections are going to be in a world of pain in the not too distant future.
Absolutely laughable how quickly people think we will bounce back. It’s going to take a long time until we are remotely competitive again.

Didn’t feel like it at the time especially the last round when we got bent over by the swans

Yes we recruited well but it took some massive FD changes to right the ship

Bloooz want Gold Coast’s pick 12 to use in a deal to get Dan Houston (according to Jon Ralph)

I believe we will explore a play at Harley Reid. Bolton, Baker and pick 2 plus a healthy pay rise will be the play.
Obviously work needs to be done to get pick 2. Don’t be disappointed folks if we don’t end up selecting 7 first round picks. The price for Reid will be heavy.
Source?

Pies and Melbourne also dipped before their flags. When you have the cattle then you know you can bounce back quickly.

We don’t have the cattle.

Next season? I know we're going to be bad next season and the following season. I'm not sure what gives you the impression I thought otherwise.

Interesting how you've failed to mention Hawthorn in your post. I just don't agree with your timeline. We have a lot of knowledge of what not to do and fortunately we have taken the key first step of building a strong draft position. We are going to bring in a lot of high end talent and we chose the perfect draft to do it.
Our worst years are going to be right before Tasmania comes in which is perfect. It wouldn't shock me if we are playing finals again by 2029.

I think you're misinformed about where we are at.

I’m struggling to think of an A grader on our list, with our departures.
I mean Lynch is a gun , but can’t get on the ground, Balta’s best is top shelf but he’s inconsistent. Taranto is a good mid but not in the elite bracket
And we’ve drafted no elite talent in the last few years.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not complaining, I’ll take the 3 flags and suffer the lean year’s that follows success .
No doubt we are going to collect a wooden spoon or 2 the next few years

I think if we don’t have 16+ players unavailable all season we will be considerably better for it and am hoping that at some point in the season that some of our r1 pics start having an impact like we saw from likes of Watson caddy and co . Lynch being fit for whole season would help but that’s asking for a bit

he is okay, but it is the wrong approach for us I think, we need draft talent in as a priority

i am a little annoyed we do not have 12 picks in the top 20 inciuding pick one
We have not got to the trade period yet so how were we to have multiple picks unless it was done last year. Stop posting crap.

I think we will break records as to how bad we are next season and you will reconsider your prediction of us challenging for a premiership in six years.

Hawthorn? They’re not a comparable case study. They didn’t bottom out as hard as the clubs that I mentioned did. They finished bottom four twice in the past few years and never won a spoon. They also have regularly topped up with mature age players like Amon, Chol, Ginnivan, Impey, Scrimshaw, Frost, Scully, etc.

I agree that we should be being aggressive with the rebuild given Tasmania are coming in but I highly doubt we move from the bottom four any time soon, let alone challenge for a flag in six years. That is delusional.

But yet you don't think we should trade for Peatling? That doesn't make a lot of sense.
Hawthorn also didn't have to endure a season where they used 98% of their list due to injury.

Not everyone's journey is going to be perfectly mirrored.

I doubt anyone cares that you post to highlight the negative actions/decisions that RFC makes….

It’s more that you ONLY take the time to post negative comments or to highlight how good a move any OTHER club has made… this isn’t an agenda of mine, just an observation.

You’ll probably return fire with “I call it as it is” or some crap, but there’s no balance with what you’re saying…

Again, just an observation.

That's not true, but sure. I've posted about many positives back when they were more present - its just been so long you were likely not here, or forgotten. I supported the clubs decision to go with Yze over Mini as i thought we needed a change of leadership, & i supported the recruitment of Kosi as a low cost gamble. To be honest, there haven't been many positives to talk about for about 2 years. I certainly spoke positively about the CCJ trade & the recruitment of Tom Lynch. So you are wrong. When i see it as positive, i say that too

FMD you'll complain over anything. Richmond has already delisted / retired:

Dusty
Grimes
Naismith
Pickett

And the following players are effectively gone:

Baker
Bolton
Graham
Rioli

Why the ** would Cumberland being on the list impact anything? He's on ** all money and we're on track for 8 list "delistings" already. Yet, you think this is some critical oversight.

If anything, it would be smart list management to keep a couple of Cumberland and Coulthard types on 1 year deals so they can be delisted in 2025 to meet the quota.... But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your daily meltdown.

Another Cumbo fanboy not prepared to admit to misjudging his ability/worth. A total spud who would provide zero to our list and is a bad example of what’s required to young draftees coming in. Rather take an extra draftee or a mature age player from VFL or lesser comp. His time is up.
