Twomey said he expects either band 2 or 3, which is end of 1st round or right after our 2nd rounder (pick 25ish)

Does anyone know the details of Isaac cumming’s contract length and supposed money? We already know it’s a flawed system but he’s the same age as graham and played 50 less games. The giants were a top 4 team and a flag fancy next year and received pick 20 odd for him. We had the worst year in club history and there is a real potential for us not winning a game next year yet we get pick 40 odd for Jack Graham.

Plenty of posters wanted Graham out the door as he is a 'spud', yet they somehow expected that another club was going to pay him top $ to get us at least band 2 compo. It's either he's a spud and is getting paid what he's worth or he's a good player and we've been ripped off. It can't be both sorry
Forget Band 2, surely he gets Band 3 at the very least? With some of the players that are getting Band 1 compensation, I expected him to attract at least a Band 3. But we get Band 4. It just doesn’t make sense

I am pretty sure it was 4 years, I don't think I've seen the amount of money mentioned though

Edit: I have since found out Cumming got 6 years

Sure, if you're that naive then good for you.

This is the first time in the history of AFL Free Agency that a 4 year deal hasn't got band 1, 2 or 3.

But yeah, believe what you want to believe. This is why the AFL get away with everything.

Sure, it could be a complex conspiracy within the AFL specifically aimed at screwing over Richmond whenever possible.

Or, it could just be that no one's offered a 4-year deal at such a low price that a player would take, until now. Maybe we’re such a mess right now, with the mass exodus and all, that players are willing to take such a deal, just to leave.

This is the 3 flags in 4 years tax we will be paying for a while.

For what it’s worth I don’t think we would get much better for Graham on the open market. A pick in the 30-40’s is probably his correct value. But surely Adelaide aren’t paying cumming much more than what Graham has gone for.

He signed a 6 year deal with Adelaide. No idea about the money though.

Yeah I'm definitely with you on the open market thing, but to me that's not the point. If the AFL has a system in place, it should be used fairly no matter who the club is.

Not sure why everybody is upset
Clearly Grahams salary is around $450k - $500k a year and does not trigger band 3

The average wage next year is higher than $500k. No way Graham is moving across the country to a club courting him for below average wage.

Battle would be 6-years totalling probably $5m. Perryman much the same. Cumming a 6-year deal totalling probably $4.2m which was band-2.

So I’d say given Graham is getting $2.4m, Band-3 starts at $2,400,000.01

I thought weeks ago band-3 was no chance and it’d be band-4. I got convinced it was band-3 by posters in here … so it’s what i thought originally, but based on other compo I feel the CFL have gone it with no lube.

Farked over with Ellis and now farked over with Graham. What on earth did we do to the AFL in the hub? Wowsers!

Really cant work out why the eagles did the 4 year contract

They could have done 3 years at $600k with a trigger of a 4th year rather than 4 years at $500k
They will be front ending it and had the option to cut him after 3 years if no good and keep him if they wanted

That would have got band 2 and assisted in the Baker trade
But who cares thats $500k a year off our books now and pick #42 will probably be in Liam Bakers back pocket when pick #14 arrives at Richmond

Yes, that’s the problem. We’d all be fine with this if compensation was based on what a player would get in the open market. But some teams are getting Band 1 compensation for fringe players while others.

I don’t trust the AFL with hiding anything from the public, so they need to work out a transparent system that makes sense to us
