Yes the opportunity will open for Miller, if he is patient. 6 years is a long time to be backup, young players get impatient, and who can blame them. I would almost guarantee that if North came and said there is a spot for you and a 2 year contract, he would take it.
You seem so persistently sure that Miller will be looking to leave for opportunity, but we really don't know that's the case. He's now had 4 years on the list, not 6 (unless you're suggesting he won't get more opportunity for another 2 years?)

Ultimately, I'd suggest the club would be telling Miller that there'll be opportunities if he's good enough.

And I also think Tarrant is a need for us to have one last crack while Dusty has some gas in the tank. Once he's in decline, we won't be a premiership threat until we unearth our next elite midfielder or two. We might fluke one with a strong hand this draft, but statistics suggest we'd need to bottom out and/or get our hands on a top 3 talent (or 2) to be in a position to build another premiership challenging list.

it is a big if. But he plays a role we lack and he’s elite in that role.
I agree on the rest but if the club made
It work somehow, I wouldn’t be upset

But what if there where better options at better value ? That is assuming he even plays a role we may lack.

Honestly, getting Mitchell will not put us into contention in my opinion

All comes down to cost
Not in salary but in picks, if we could secure him without undermining our draft hand he could be a very astute pick up that adds an element to our midfield that we are sorely lacking

Nathan Krueger wants out of Geelong, picks the Pies

under Buckely you’d question the decision. Under fly and leppa all of a sudden it looks like a good option

Yep 100%
I reckon it’s possible we could get very creative with our abundance or picks

Its not a question of difficulty is a question of are their better options that deliver more bang for buck including a 2022 tilt as well as the future factoring cap restrictions as well?
Agree, I think this option gives us what we need now and gives us a decent draft hand. If Mitchell is available he is just what we need. A grade mid for the next 2-3 years. Blokes a magnet for the footy. Put our weapons around him and we are all of a sudden pretty deep through the middle. This releases Cotchin also

Go watch both the sa v wa game and the Aus game v Geelong reserves. When JVR is under pressure he scrubs the ball so poorly it grubs along the ground. 2 times both matches. He panics under pressure. Williams looks greener but is the more composed and I think more athletic.
Strange , I never watched these games but everything i have read mentions he was 1 of the best in all these games
So you thinking Williams gets drafted before JVR ?

Im thinking he is in Richmond colours if available at #15

You'd have to be a Hawthorn supporter to suggest this. Go and please hawk supporters with this bullshit idea.

It’s all risk reward isn’t it. We are within striking distance for another flag now. As long as we aren’t completely giving away our future, I’m all for us paying marginally overs to add an A grade talent.

We have a special group of players right now that we are highly unlikely to be able to replicate again. Let’s try and milk another flag while we can.

There are better ways to spend our draft bounty than picking up Mitchell.

Exactly thats a coach killer and a good way to destroy a list which is why the Hawks are desperate to offload him.

Dunstan would be a better option without thinking too hard.

Mitchell has never won a premiership, maybe there is a reason for that

Not sure any club has milked a flag.

Premierships are not won by gambling in hail mary plays.

Look at Carlton, the brown paper bag days are over

Get dogs pick 17 and trade it and 15 to Hawthorn for Mitchell and 24. Throw in a swap of later picks if needed to sweeten the deal either way.

Gives us Mitchell, 7,24,26 and our Chol and CCJ picks to go to the draft with.

Three good kids, a couple of mid draft speculators and a gun midfielder for right now. Perfect. Should be able to wrap this up pretty quickly on the first day of trade period I reckon.
Not sure why people think this is difficult.

Treloar on fox footy talking about grand finals and premierships the silly man would have 3 medals if he had some good sense

No no no …. we are a fairly long shot for the flag, but it’s a chance. I reckon we’ll be 8-1. Mitchell would need $800k for 3-4 seasons. And we’d lose a top draft pick. And how do we find the money for Bolton, Balta, Baker etc… in 1-2 years time with reasonably big money tied up in Prestia, Dusty, Lynch, Vlastuin AND Mitchell …..

Mitchell has ‘Jezza Cameron’ written all over it.

Lynch Caddy Prestia all will be 30 next year anything else?
yeah but it's still 22 lol
That's still completely irrelevant for SEASON 2021
By the time those guys hit their 30th birthday, we'll likely have 2-3 more retirements from that group, so it will never actually hit the number you suggest
Caddy may not even be on the list next year after the upcoming trade period either.
