norf offering CCJ a 4 year deal but then don't think he's worth his original pick ?
Original pick means nothing at this point
If we apply that logic to other players is Jack Graham only worth pick 55?
Paddy dow pick 3?

It kind of does when it's a young key position player who takes time.

He's been dominating VFL for awhile and has started to translate that to AFL showing that potential he was drafted for. Comparing him to two small mids is a bit disingenuous.

You're probably right but is it worth it in the long run? They are a welfare club, poor with a tiny supporter base. In a rationally run national competition they would have been relocated or extinct by now. They owe their survival to clubs like Richmond. Why make enemies when you are so vulnerable. I guess they best hope we don't have long memories

Worth it for who, the Roos? Probably, if they nail pick 20. It's just business. Clubs have a duty of care to themselves and their players, but not really to other clubs. If we have to deal with them again it will be the same. I highly doubt there's any 'you screwed us last year' stuff. The priorities don't change much.

How about Josh Schache?
Should Gold Coast of traded him only for pick 3?

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

Clearly our own club disagrees with you on his value, or the deal would've already been done for pick 40 at 9am this morning.

That would have been a ripping trade given he never played for them.
Brisbane, Gold Coast same shit
The point is still the same
Once a player has been in the system the pick they were drafted with means absolutely **** all

His value is whatever someone is willing to pay for him
Not what we wish it was

WTF is Norf's problem? why such hostility giving up pick 20 when you're still holding pick 19, its the same draft hand and their adding CCJ. Norf better go find some more early 2nd round picks because Pk40 ain't cutting it.

Sure. But on the open market I am sure many clubs offer more than pick 40.

North are trying to pull a swifty by offering a ridiculous contract to push other clubs away then not offering a pick that matches their interest. That seems to be where the problem lies and why the deal is not done.

Oh absolutely, I think his value is more than pick 40 but we constantly see pick 20 thrown up as the benchmark of his value simply because we drafted him at pick 20 is just ludicrous and the point I was originally responding to

Good pick up - its going to be interesting to see how this plays out - theres a few moving parts (including the Tarrant deal / Chol compo). I'm sure its just posturing but CJ may still be playing for the Tiges next year if we dont get a good deal from North. I'm assuming CJ can then still reject our offer (even if it is matched) and go to the draft - surely he wouldn't do that tho!

he is a lowlife campaigner he would walk to the psd

Sounds like North were expecting the easy to deal with Richmond rather than us digging our heels in.
I, for one, am happy we are making a stand instead of just bending over and spreading the proverbial cheeks.

Or it’s only day 1 or the trade period and we have a total of zero trades so far because the clubs work on their own timelines

I don’t think we are necessarily saying his value is 20 but it is the card Norf hold. They could trade 20 and 40 for 30 and 32 from Geelong. We take 30 and on trade it with 28 to WB as part of a deal for 17.

Exactly.

If we get this Gold Coast thing over the line and then have 19 as well, then trading 20 to you guys may well come into play.

Or you guys are saying hold off until you figure out what the Dogs want for 17

Every chance this crap goes back and forth until 5PM next Wednesday anyway lol.

I never said anything about every player must be worth their original pick. i'm just talking about this specific situation where a side is willing to offer a developed KPP a sizeable 4 year deal but then acting like he isn't worth his pretty meh original pick of 20
