Nah - its a common negotiation tactic - he who blinks first loses. So most deals are done at the very last moment - usually the club that blinks first are the ones that stand to benefit the most - or in this case have the most to lose

Unfortunately this negotiation is not a level playing field cos North know that we have the most to lose given he can just walk in the draft. Anything we get will be a bonus - either through North being generous and managing reputations/good will or rfc bluffing.

I hope we make them sweat at least and maybe if we make them think we are prepared to match their contract offer - they may blink

I get it now. So we potentially are thinking that if we offer what North have to CCJ then he probably picks us? That that's a worst case scenario, but better than losing him for nothing?

if you believe what’s in the media it’s the contract and him being promised first ruck. We can’t offer either of those things so it’s highly unlikely he stays even if we were silly enough to offer the same terms as north.

I could be misreading the situation but the only reason he's being traded is due to money (maybe opportunity as well but Richmond are saying they would offer that in 2022 onwards).

It's not a trade in the traditional sense where it's "get me out of here at all costs" type situation. It's a desperate bottom dweller club offering up a large part of their cap to lure a player of need.

I kind of hope we're able to turn around and tell North to shove it and match or come close to the offer to keep him over getting a shitty pick. That may be a pipe dream but Clark didn't rule it out from his comments.

What are north guna do use pick 1 on him in the PSD to spite us.
