So we're currently lined up for 7 top 30 picks in the next 12 months. We'll see how next year on-field goes but either way that's a pretty bloody solid foundation for a rebuild. I reckon we just take our picks and start developing them. ideally we'd love a couple of top 3 or 4 picks at some point but as our current top end rolls off we could end up down there anyway. Thats life. The upcoming 7 picks wouldn't be peaking for another 6 of 7 years but If we're back up again and really challenging again that soon, you'd take it. Balta and Bolton and perhaps up to Vlaustin would still be around.

Well played Tigers.

not forgetting hitting the draft the last two years we’d have regenerated half our list

When every team with pick 1 says that they're open to offers, generally you can ignore that because it's only actually on the table if another club is stupid enough to sell the farm for it. Turns out this year another club was that stupid but north one upped them by turning it down. I'd be fuming if my club didn't take that deal

But look a little deeper. It’s giving a future second back. And one of the first rounders is Melbourne’s, could easily be pick-18. So pick-23 v pick-18 let’s say close to cancel each other out.

So it sort of ends up 2 x pick-4’s v pick-1. Given JHF looks close to a sure thing to be an elite player, I wouldn’t take that deal either.

Interesting to see if the make a play for an A grade mid or go down the youth path with the strong draft hands.

People seem about 50/50 here? Both good options.

Ideally they would sign balta. Bolton. Baker on long term deals to build around with vlastuin who is locked up ready.

Should be interesting short and long term.

Some of them are speculative selections though. Hope we can have a bit of luck / good development -

M Rioli. Ralphsmith. Cumberland. Martyn. Nyuon(?). Stack. Ross. Mansell. Ryan. Etc..

Outs:
Chol, Coleman-Jones
2021 picks 42 & 47
2022 pick ~70

Ins:
Tarrant
2021 picks 38 & 40
2022 pick ~20

seems pretty bloody good to me
If we can swap 38 and 40 for 27 (COLL), then flip that with 28 for Mitchell (would really depend how desperate the Hawks are to offload him).

We could end up with:

Mitchell, Tarrant, 7, 15, 26.

This haul would equate to:

A future 20-25 pick, Mitchell and Tarrant costing us: CCJ, Markov, Chol, a future forth and 47.

nope, would do something with one of this years picks like 26 because the future 2nd rounder gives us more flexibility in next years trade period too.
Norths 2022 pick #19 must be untouchable

RFC wanted a presence in both 2021 & 2022 drafts and this is a great opportunity to do this as we already have 4 picks and most likely 5 picks inside 30
I would much rather wait and see if we can grab another 2nd rounder from St Kilda / Hawks /Eagles / Crows in 2022

38 & 40 is overs o think. Once the bids are matched that pick will come in 7 spots between the dogs and pies.

NORF actually decided to do that deal and take Adelaide offer

Then Luff realised what he had done and traded next years 2nd rounder to Richmond

Look at all the teams around us on that list. All bottom four or five. Not a strong club anywhere near us.

We are showing the league how you run a club; how you can always be successful - just don’t get greedy and sell out the future.

Unlike a lot of other clubs, we can afford to drop down, we can take that risk. The supporter base will still be there.

I don’t believe that will happen and I’m sure nor do the club, but if it did, we wouldn’t fear financial disaster like Hawthorn, Geelong and Sydney.

I love that we don’t keep topping up and also that we don’t ship out loyal, respected servants. Unlike other clubs, the draft picks keep coming without us having to tear up the fabric of our club.

We are active. Moving up the draft and into next year highly considered. Not sure on the exact thinking but we are all in for the draft, both this year and next.

Little whisper came to me before to say we may trade our future first now we have North’s second for next year to get another first, possibly talking GC. Let’s see what happens here.
excellent

Yeah nah.. it’s pick 15 not 1… a Cory Ellis or a Ben Lennon

how many times have we been to the draft with very low picks and rebuilds.. lots… we still have 7 and 2 or 3 others in the top 30 by the time the draft comes.
Premiership droughts can be 20-30-40-50 years very easily

make absolutely as much hay as we can while the sun is still shining out of dusty lynch grimes vlastuin shai dion etc

losing pick 15 will absolutely not set us back

gaining an extra AA quality mid could definitely land our 4th in 6
I am not saying Mitchell isn’t worth getting just not with a first rounder. Pick 28+40. Which I doubt they’d accept. But I’d offer no more. Hawthorn are the ones wanting to move him on. Pay minimal price.
