where do our mids stack up? Those stats dont look good stand alone, but against ours I would reckon they look spectacular.

Probably better than most except for Cotchin and Prestia, but that's the thing. We're not getting a contested midfielder to replace the likes of Graham, Edwards, Ross, RCD, Dow etc. We need a contested bull to replace Cotchin or Prestia as they age out or miss games due to injury. Taranto doesn't fit the mould of either players.

Hopper (and my image of him as a midfielder) is more comparable to what we have in Cotchin and Prestia (hard tackler, gets from contest to contest and can win the hard ball). Its why Tom Green is probably the jewel in the crown, so to speak. He embodies those 3 traits perfectly, and I would view Hopper as the B-grade version (although I still woudn't go for Hopper if it was a choice between Taranto and Hopper. Either go for the big fish in Green, or draft and/or develop one with what we have in the VFL).

I think he is miles ahead of Cotch on production on 2022 and comparable to Prestia.

Jason McCartney was on radio a couple of days ago and asked about a potential trade for Dusty.
  • Laughed off the thought of Tom Green being included in a trade
  • 1st Rounder is what he thought would be the starting point of any discussion
And he would be correct , GWS are not fools and know exactly what Green is worth
would take Green demanding a trade and would cost 2x1st round picks

If Dusty was to request a trade to GWS their 1st rounder would get it done with "maybe" swap of 2nds at best
At his age Dusty is worth pick #3-#10 depending on what the club he is going to have.

What are others opinions on Zurhaar?

Put the Norf are crap feelings aside.

I rate him, tough as nails, plays medium forward and I reckon could play the Dusty fwd / mid role long term (not the same level obviously) and wouldn't cost the earth.
He would be on $500k+ at Norf and would want more to move

Lavo market Dusty

Just had a quick look at some stats, and this is the comparison:

Prestia v Trent v Taranto (Averages for this season)

24.9 - 21.4 - 26.9 Disposals
2.6 - 2.2 - 4.8 Tackles
3.9 - 3.1 - 4.3 Inside 50s
10.3 - 10.1 - 10.6 Contested Possesions
4.6 - 5.2 - 4.2 Clearances
5.9 - 4.2 - 5.7 Score Invovlements
376.6 - 262.6 - 376 Metres Gained

Closer than expected tbh.

2 metres would me considered a mile to an ant

I don't mind him actually.
Bit of mongrel in him.

Player from NORF we should be balls deep into is tarryn Thomas . This kid will be a star in a proper team
22 years old 190cm and a bull mid.

Just give me these 3 players and i would be over the moon about our future
Elijah Hollands , tarryn Thomas , Tom Green

People on here are dreaming if they think we will get Green
It’s probably a stretch this year.

I’d imagine a new coach coming onboard would rate Green as their most important player based on age and the impact he’s had so early in his career. They’d hate to lose him because he’s the type you build a team around

They've signed him up.

That won't stop the 60,000,000 trade scenarios on him in here over the next 6 months.
It’s going to be one of those ones that will be thrown around constantly until he either retires or joins us

He’s had a good year

The tackles a standout on top of high posessions Inc contested.

He’s a gun.

Just heard from Mitch Cleary on 7 that Dan Rioli and Shai Bolton have left Ralph Carr. Bolton now with Anthony Van Der Wielen (Perth based), while Rioli is now with Kapital Sports.

Taranto has had an outstanding 2022 thus far. Would be our best performing mid easily.

What games have you been watching? Has been ordinary this season. Desperately needs a change of scenery if he is going to become the player he is capable of being, that of the coach gets more out of him but my gut tells me that GWS have too many mids of the same type to truly get the best out of Taranto.

Don't see why he wouldn't cost the earth when Norf can offer a lot more $$$ to entice him to stay.

Just on Hopper.

Be aware that Hopper only plays around 70% game time as he has heart issues - was well documented a few years back.

Good player but comes with a known risk.
Where did you hear this? Was looking at his stats and he averaged 80.1% ToG last year, which is pretty standard for a mid.
