What's the bet all these deals are already done just the AFL being campaigners making it hush hush so they can flog it in their evening trade special show tomorrow night.

Spoke to my contact.

1. We are so tight with the salary cap, its very unlikely we could get someone like Mitchell without Hawks paying and our players renegotiating contracts.
2. We are working actively to package up picks to move up (1st or 2nd round). That's their main focus right now.
3. Not Richmond related - but Jason Horne-Francis is 99% going to Norf. Apparently the young fella has been researching North history and players etc. He want to go 1 and has accepted it will be at Norf. Norf can't be happier with his attitude.

That's all for now!
One of the most useless update trade posts in history. Who's your source? Con the fruiterer?

I know that everybody says this, but I wish that the trade period was shorter.

Why not a two-day trade window?
Day 1: Opening discussions and negotiations.
Day 2: Finalising the details then lodging.
Too short. Some deals rely on other deals being done first which that doesn't really account for.

he’s contracted so would have to be a trade. He’ll be on the list next year unless a trade is done before close of play tomorrow
Not necessarily ... I think if he did get an offer after the trade window closed that he wanted to pursue, then we'd just delist him and the other club would pick him up.

he’d only get an offer if he was delisted. And if we did that we’d have to pay out his contract which goes into the TPP. We’d be paying for a player we don’t have on the list. I don’t know what he’s on, you’d think at least 450.

TBH I don’t even think we’re all that interested in Hobbs. I can’t remember the last time a player we were into get into the media before we actually make the pick ie. the media had us taking Stoker when in turned out we didn’t have any interest and in fact we would never have taken him even at a later pick (plus word was we made him cry in a interview).

I could be wrong it’s been a while since we’ve had such an early pick but IMO we’ve just been linked to him because he’s tipped to go top 10 and we’ve got a pick 7. We’ve also been somewhat linked to Ward, Gibcus & I think Andrew.
Yeah it's a really interesting point you raise- I think Hobbs is connected to every team with one or more midfielders who are over 30 as he shows signs of being a great long term option. I think we'd be much more heavily linked to him if we weren't in such dire need of a midfielder with better delivery.
I would be a little surprised if ya'll took Gibcus, but I think if Andrew is still on the board at your pick he'd be a great get for your club.

well if GWS are reluctant to trade out bobby hill what makes you think they'd be fine trading green contracted to '23, cant see it , get used to first chance being as a FA
GWS are deservedly Shi!!y at Bobby Hill cos he sprung it on them at the 11th hour and named Essendon who have zero to offer and the biggest flog in dodo who GWS despised dealing with in the past. On the other hand Tiges have fantastic relationship with GWS alot of ex Tigers work or have worked there including their coach. Their salary cap issues will have casualties. Failure to EVER offload Coniglio will cost them.

Agree, its counter productive.

the proponent posters of all in on Tom Green are not doing him nor RFC any favours let alone GWS.

Really our best approach is to let him be and if he wants a change of scenery later, we will be answering calls preferably as a free agent and GWS is towards the bottom so they get a good compo pick to

Hobbs gives me real shades of Taylor Adams, I'm not particularly attached to the notion of selecting him necessarily and would rather hope that if the Hawks were to say that, Josh Ward may be available for us which would be incredible.

Not sure about a live trade between our two clubs for that pick. I also think Ward should be at the top of your list. Perfect midfield piece for either club, really.
Ward is a Hawks supporter and has his fingers crossed he will get to them.

happy with how the club is approaching the trade period so far.

-Played tough on CCJ and got a great deal considering the circumstances.

-Were bold and offered Nth a strong deal for pick 1 to try and get a "elite" young player

-Are sniffing around the carcass of Hawthorn for a deal, our cap obviously makes this hard, but they have at least turned all the stones over to see if anything is possible.

-Appear keen to "trade up" on picks & being pro-active at it

I have no doubt the club will stay active until the very last second and be ready if anyone blinks. We are doing all we can do, the results can only be what they will be :thumbsu:

If he wanted to come to Richmond why did he sign a 4 year contract? Seriously think it's a pipe dream.
How do you knock back $400k - $450k 2 year extension as a 18 year old ?
Just about all the kids drafted to GWS & GC are getting extended soon as they walk in the door before they even know if they are upto the level
But after that they realise they are good enough to get that cash at a club they want. Bye

Doesn't change my opinion. If he really wanted to be RFC player he would not have signed the extension. Rekon he's happy up there.
