If we're to do better next year there will need to be some big changes. Firstly our midfield needs to be able to match it with the best midfields and not put our defenders under constant pressure. Secondly our delivery into F50 needs to improve markedly. We're probably the only team in the comp that doesn't utilise leading up at the ball carrier as much as we should. Invariably our entries are long high bombs on heads which is too predictable and easy to defend. Thirdly we need an improved run with injuries that hinders the continuity of the side. Finally we need to stop with the experimentation with moving guys around. I know we've been forced to at times because of the injuries, but we've got to start settling the side into position and starting to build that consistency in performance. If those things don't happen then I'm afraid we'll fall another couple of spots down the ladder as there are sides below us on the ladder that are improving and will likely pass us next year.
I agree with the majority of your comments but question how we will improve next year with our ageing and injury prone forward line. Cumberland and MRJ will help but we are desperate for a quality young key forward or forward ruck. Baker and Short could improve the midfield but this will only cover Cotchin and Prestia who will both be closer to the end and also more subject to injury

I think our tall forward depth is our biggest immediate concern , talls naturally take a little longer and for that reason we should be trading to fulfill that need and continue to use the draft for mids .

Edit : I wouldn’t be selling the farm for trades .

He was s**t house cheap posies and I wouldn’t be lauding him BOG that’s for sure , Hopper was far better in one on ones .watch the game and you’ll see rather than reading stats
I agree that stats don't always tell the full story but you can't dismiss factual data because it debunks your theory. Pressure acts aren't subjective, they're a very clear indicator of defensive effort - there's no grey area there. You said he didn't defend when it's undisputable that he did a substantial amount of defending whilst winning the highest amount of possessions for his team - that combination is far more significant given it completely reinforces that he was in fact running "both ways".

Why you talking about his "cheap possessions"? You said he couldn't defend? That was your hot take - what does Hopper have to do with it? I've got nothing against Hopper.

But since you brought it up, Hopper had less tackles and less pressure acts which should concern you given your focus was on defensive acts? I won't even bring up that his disposal efficiency and turnovers because I'll stick to your primary concern of defence.

Bakes is worth 500 no more , he’s not a cornerstone player , he’s complimentary to a good structure , dumb move by wc , bit of Zac Williams in this by them ,,,in any case what will we get , I’m thinking they’ll offer a r2 , prob next years , we sa y FRO
500 is not a lot.
600 is his worth imo.
will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Taranto would be great, Hopper bonus if possible. And if Port or Adelaide ask about Graham then I would hope we go look at Deven Robertson, both from character and potential view. Since the Sydney game debacle it has been a demoralising season.

I don’t care about stats !!!
I watched the game and he was clearly beaten often in one on ones and added no defensive pressure often .
It’s an opinion .

That is why I don't think we will improve next year. Jack will be another year older and a little bit slower than he already is. Which will see a lot more fall on Lynch and if we're just bombing it on his head more than utilising leading up at the kicker and creating more space inside F50. Ideally I'd like to see Bauer & Cumberland being used as the lead up targets which then create space inside F50 for Lynch to lead into.

We have so many half backs and outside mids we would be silly not to.

Two or three of Vlastuin, Martin, Short, Kmac, Graham, Pickett should be considered if clubs come knocking, and the price is right.
Vlastuin signed a 5-year deal last year, Short signed one this year. That both shows how highly they're valued and that they're going nowhere. KMac and Pickett are not only two of the best wingers in the comp, they're our only AFL-standard wingers at this point. I expect Banks to make one in time and maybe Hugo, but not yet. Graham would depend on the offer but he's another highly rated internally. Keep.

I think our tall forward depth is our biggest immediate concern ,
It's not. The midfield patently is.

We will be bottom four in 2024.

Wouldn't be surprised at all. Cotchin Edwards Riewoldt Lambert Tarrant all likely gone. Martin Prestia Lynch pretty much at the end of their careers and not a heap coming through to replace them
