I’ve been generous putting Dunkley ahead of both TT and Hopper, but we’ve got basically the two BEST players traded this trade period. I’m sure we won’t be rated number 1 or even number 2 by the media mafia, but we so clearly won the trade period it wasn’t even close.

Wrong again. All those guys have played AFL football and are a few of the better rucks in the vfl. You said he struggled against the better vfl rucks then say beating one of the vfl team of the year rucks in Downie proves your point

Samson did a great job to compete and break even at the very least with them as a 2nd year beanpole.

2nd year developing ruckman gives away a bunch of free kicks to a ruck thats been in the afl system for 12 years....what a shock

And Philips had a huge 13 more hitouts and 4 touches (2 less scoring shots) against a bloke playing his 15th vfl game....on the MCG in his 11th season on an AFL list.

Downie is ****ing terrible. Being the ruck in the VFL team of the year means nothing when the good rucks by VFL standards are constantly floating between AFL and VFL level so don't get a fair crack at being able to make team of the year. Ned Moyle who is the same age as Sampson would have made it had he played more than 12 games.

It's a stretch to say he broke even. Given these guys are failed AFL ruckmen who never got close to making it, is a very low bar to set.

Get some standards. At this rate we should give Sampson a medal for participating.

There is not one spot.

JR and Cotch can be rookie veterans and put on the rookie list

If they want to RCD and Stack can both be kept.

It helps others go from rookie to main meaning we don't have to use draft picks unless there is a minimum have to be used in the draft. Maybe we might have to use one draft pick depending on what we do

It's all relevant. Players like Downie and Briggs are terrible ruckmen as noted by the fact Mumford had to come out of retirement twice as neither player come close to making it at GWS. Ryan if he is AFL level needs to be completely dominating these guys both around the ground and in the ruck. I personally don't expect him to be in his second season at the age of 21 but I'm not the idiot trying to convince people he should be in our 22 based on what he showed this season. He is a potential option if he continues to develop but based on what he has showed at VFL level the step will be far too great.

No Ryan didn't play well against Melbourne. You can't give the opposition the ball 7 times from free kicks alone and say he played well. He has 12cm's on Daw and managed only 13 more hitouts. Completely irrelevant to what is being said. The discussion was in relation to needing KPP depth and Ryan not being the answer at this point in time. Where he is in his development and how he is tracking to potentially be our no.1 ruck in 2-3 years time is not one bit relevant to our team in 2023.

Not sure about Ryan’s rucking ability at AFL level … but one thing I’m happy to declare right now is he’s a better option up forward than Soldo, Miller, Biggy or Nank in 2023. Soldo completely misses
high balls. Miller occasionally almost misses his foot. Nank is a lumbering dinosaur and Biggy is just pretty useless all round ATM.

So if Lynch is out Ryan will be a viable second ruck option.

Harry Himmelberg is a FA end of 2023. With their massive contracts he'd have to be unrestricted. Would cost no draft picks could offer him 6 years $3mil ish? Would be a great 2nd banana to Lynch once Riewoldt goes. In a few years time when Lynch is near the end then we can land another FA whale like a King.

So they effectively traded 18, 38, 48, 55, F2, F3, F4 and former pick 16 Cooper Stevens for pick 7, Bruhn, Bowes and Henry

But I guess only first round picks matter.

I agree with your statement he is likely not best 22 in 2023.
