Yes it would , that kinda money is for like lynch , Cameron curnow McKay qty , he’s much closer to mcstay I think a bit better but numbers say it’s marginal
Lynch is on well over $800k, same with the others imo. Don’t think HH is worth that kind of cash though, but not far off

I think if you sell the club to the player they will play for less , Himmelberg might really want to play for Richmond with
Dusty , Shai , Lynch , Taranto & Hopper and with the last 2 he would feel more comfortable and will get info about what the club is like on the inside rather than what they tell him in the sell.

Other club may offer $5 x $800k and we may be at $750k x 5 but after tax its not really much
With Jack , Trent , Tarrant & Castagna all retiring and 2024 being the last year for Dusty's $$$ im sure we will have the cap space

Harry Himmelberg is just a great fit for Richmond to fill that 2nd foward role
we would be crazy if we are not into him specially with no 1st round pick this year

Himelberg isn't getting $800k offers unless he goes to previously unseen level this season. Really, approaching 27 he is fully exposed. He would not be in the top half of key forwards in the AFL. He is a recruit that may make sense for us and he is a consistent enough performer, but for a long term deal - like 5 years - you are not offering more than $650k. $700k is absolute ceiling if you are desperate, and we probably are.

Yep, $3.5M over 5 years is pretty much a "take it or leave" offer imo.

I wouldn’t expect we’d offer more than 600s x 4 , that’s fine , anymore and I’d be genuinely concerned for our list management. Am hoping mid season we can unearth a couple of kids that have been overlooked to say injury like Teal ,,,don’t go for the 27y recycled afl player , waste of time
next year our list will have a completely diff dynamic with fresh new look

I think the ace up Himmelberg's sleeve is he has shown he can play excellent footy behind the ball. So you are not going to go wrong giving him 4-5 years at $650-700k. Worst case scenario you send him back and train Balta or Gibcus as a forward. But there may be clubs out there willing to pay appreciably more than that to get Himmelberg as a defender. Carlton, Collingwood, Crows, Port, Suns, Lions are a few clubs that would likely be very interested in pursuing that path. So I doubt we would be competitive int he market at $600k pa. But he is just not quite that proven marquee level $800k+ type player.

Yeah I wasn’t thinking a replacement for Lynch, rather somebody that can lessen the workload. Allow Lynch to play closer to goal and not have to cover the ground he currently does.
I'm keen on Treacy from Freo.195cm and only 20yrs old.Looks out of favor at Freo.Would get him cheapish in both a trade & $ wise.As i said why pay a bloke 800k instead of someone similar for 200k for the same outcome more or less.

800 is a B+ A- Fwd which is the category he falls into. Par for the course. 800 was heaps a few years ago but will be run of the mill on a few years
But you'd want to put a 1,1mil worth of eggs in your basket for a king type of player.Your limiting yourself if you go for a Hummingbird type.
EG:King & Treacy
vs
Hummingbird & Treacy.

2yrs time Lynch retires.
You really think Hummingbird can fly the flag?
I mean GWs don't see him as their main target.

If he was any good he'd be getting a game for Freo surely. WAFL stats aren't impressive either.
I agree he's not setting the world on fire at any level. But he did show alot in his first season which means there is something to work on.I'm backing our winning culture over Freo's lack of.

You worry about replacing lynch when he does retire
by that time we will have even more players finishing up also
Grimes and Prestia and probably Martin as well

Not to say that you still wont be developing your own

I'm hoping that player is Ryan. But if not then we should be keeping an eye out on someone of the matchwinning capabilties of Lynch.
Anyway you look at it Hummingbird isn't that player.

I don’t know a lot about Treacy, I think I’ve seen some highlights, that’s about it.

Would ask the question though why isn’t he currently getting a game for Freo?
