Given it's likely Cotchin & Riewoldt's last season do you think we'd be into Anderson & Ben King from the Gold Coast?

We must have some cap room even Grimes imo would be lucky to go on again, I could see him pulling the pin given how much he has declined.

Tarrant's body also looks cooked listed as indefinite still.
The Suns are going no where anyone can see that.
Noah Anderson extended so no chance , Ben king looks woeful right now , I’m backing Ryan

I did some stats a few months back but can’t find them… but what they showed in regards to ‘games played’ was:

1. Pick 1-10 are clearly superior to 10 and beyond.

2. There was negligible difference between 10-20 and 20-30.

3. Later in the draft picks 40-50 were superior overall to 30-40.

In other words, if you’re not getting into the real pointy end of the draft, anything 10-30 is much of a muchness - probably why we were happy with 28/29/30 …. which is looking bloody good with Sonsie, Clarke and Banks!

Then around those picks there’s:

Edwards: #26
Rance: #18
Astbury: #35
Macca: #31
Bolton #29
Balta: #25

Fails:

Conca : #6
Lennon: #12
Vickery: #8
Ellis: #12

This is why trading picks 12/19 and a future first (hopefully 10+) for Hopper is not looked upon as a big deal, as history says outside the top-10 it’s very much a lottery from 10-30. And then 40-50 are no different to 30-40.

Why do we think GWS packaged up a heap of top picks to get #1 ??

Once again …. as if the club hasn’t analysed this to within an inch of its life before making these trades for TT and Hopper.

Very good post , trading 10-20 for the caliber of mids we got in , both trending at 50p between them ea game is good business and at their age we can build our future midfield around them and it’s already underway ,,, if you open your eyes

Updated free agent list - Who's on the table? Full list of 2023 free agents revealed

Probably only really interested in Himmelberg and McKay. It's a pretty bloody average group this year....unless you're chasing a half back flanker :straining:
Just out of curiosity

If Ben McKays name was Lewis Young or Jordan Butts and didnt look like harry McKay
Based on 8 years at AFL level playing just 52 games and injury prone.

Would we even consider him ?

If they had the form of McKay in the past 2 years then sure, why not? Yeah he has missed a fair bit of footy over the years but only 7 games in 2021 and 2022 and I'm not sure if any were due to soft tissue injuries. This year it's been stress fractures, not much you can do about that.

With that type of injury record the last 7 years how many years of service can you expect without injuries ?
Soft Tissue injuries will only get worse for a perennially injured player imo

I have been going on about getting HH for the last 18 months and been discussed on just about every Richmond forum
these guys are just reading forums and making "Suggestions" to claim as their own
As we will now get a very good look at samo Ryan and Bauer , we will be very well placed to answer by mid to 2/3 thru the year whether we pursue HH, I certainly wouldn’t be offering him 7 ruddy years , 4 prob ok

Steer well clear ! Just cannot stay fit. And our key defensive stocks are the least of our problems. Balta, Gibcus, Young, Miller and Biggy have that covered for a decade.

3 x $750k with an agreed 2 year extension at $500k = $3,250,000 0ver 5 years

Average $650k a year and the initial 3 year deal enables GWS to get a top 5 pick and allow him to walk

For 850 a year and they were investigated for doing exactly what you suggested with the dodgy extension. The afl won't let that happen again.
"The trade all fell into place sweetly when Daniher’s lofty salary exceeded the $700,000-mark that was reportedly required for the free agency move to trigger a first round draft pick compensation for the Bombers."

I just have no confidence in picks #10 -#20 being any better than say a pick at #20-#30

Sure you will get the occasional super star - But who knows which player it is ? Why wasnt he selected inside pick 10
what makes us think we would have selected the right player (with our track record most likely not)

JON - Tambling - Lennon - Conca - Cellis - RCD - Dow - Vickery just to name a few

maybe im just scarred
I know Tambling is the one we gravitate to ….with good reason I think the strangest pick in that absolutely no one else was interested was conca particularly when you look at those that followed

Nank and Graham have triggered another season

TIGER NOT UP FOR GRABS

Richmond co-captain Toby Nankervis is no longer on the market.
Nankervis quietly reached a contract trigger in the opening rounds that automatically locks him in for next season, at a time he is preparing to be out for an extended period recovering from syndesmosis surgery.
The former Swan, who has played 113 of his 125 games for the Tigers, has become a key on and off-field piece of Richmond’s success, including playing in their 2017, 2019 and 2020 flags.

This year promises to be a transitional one for the Tigers, with champion veterans Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt, and ex-Roos star Robbie Tarrant likely playing their last seasons.
Noah Balta is nearing a contract extension and Jack Graham triggered another year with his appearance in Saturday’s loss to Western Bulldogs, but Dylan Grimes, Nathan Broad, Hugo Ralphsmith, Marlion Pickett and Kamdyn McIntosh are among those out of contract.

Steer well clear ! Just cannot stay fit. And our key defensive stocks are the least of our problems. Balta, Gibcus, Young, Miller and Biggy have that covered for a decade.

1) IF Gibcus or one of these KPD gets played fwd this year we can have a look at how they go.
I never watched gibcus at jnr level so that I have no idea of his experience fwd. Bauer had Bradkte are natural fwds and I'd be comfortable with them up fwd in the AFL..

2) we have to work out Ryan's level and role. Fwd ruck or ruck/fwd.
3) how to we use Soldo?
I like Nank but having him captain is limiting
But I would almost be happy waiting a year before bringing in a fa KPF. The club brought in Tarrant when Miller had played one game. Biggy none and no gibcus.

But they played gibcus from the get go. Young is getting games too. On the other hand Miller seems to be always out of contention, and Ryan should have got a game or two last year. I know player development is hard to manage

Good evening to Cal Twomey and Riley Beveridge hope your enjoy your time reading the board.

Riley Beveridge get a proper ****ing haircut. Every time I see this bloke his hair gets shitter and shitter. Have some self respect ffs

Himmelberg would be a good pick-up if cheap but have a feeling it will become a bidding war clubs are always desperate to improve these days.

Grimes i'd only keep if we struggling finding a replacement. I know it sounds harsh but he has not played good footy the last 3 years, I know he won the B&F in 2021 but I seriously don't know how he did he isn't hard to play on anymore.
