24. Luke Teal (Oakleigh Chargers), DEF, 2 games, 119 points

Is listed with Richmond VFL and eligable to be drafted mid season draft in 3 weeks
played reasonably well in his 1st game for Richmond reserves against a strong carlton VFL team saturday night
Hey R2R, I see our Free Agency target both won and saved the game for the Giants this afternoon

If your unimpressed with Cumberlands back half of the year (as someone posted) you may never be happy with any new player we ever play.
I'm not sure what more he could have done. I reckon he has every chance to be the player that gets off the leash as opposition backlines focus on Dusty, Bolton and our two key forwards.

Our season depends on Lynch being cherry ripe. Missing a chunk of preseason like he has is not a great indicator and I hope like hell it hasn't set him back. With him we are top 4 material, Without him at somewhere near his best we are not going to win it. Hes the one player on our list we simply don't have any cover for.
This as predicted

Stengle and Butler were uncontrcacted, nothing we could've done about that.

Butler wasn’t getting a game for us in 2018. We forget how bad he was that year when he did play. No one else really wanted him. Carlton made a play but ultimately decided not to, and it was the Saints who were the only suitor. Has obviously been pretty good on occasion since then, but again he was very poor in 2018.

Stengle was more about wanting to go back to South Australia than anything else.

Higgins wanted to go to St Kilda. Remember this was after his major head issues and I’ve no doubt that he would have wanted more playing time to get the best contract he could. His financial future is more likely to come from AFL than post-AFL. A life threatening issue could have out that into perspective.

Context is important in relation to some of our trade out moves of recent times.

But we also dont play hard ball. Its just frustrating as we need the draft capital to rebuild.

We generally don’t try and get in the way of others who are seeking better opportunities or better lifestyle opportunities elsewhere.

Some will rightly state we don’t play hardball to the detriment of our draft position. My counter to that is you listen to why the likes of Lynch, Taranto, Hopper all choose Richmond, as well as likes of Prestia, Bolton, Rioli etc taking less money to stay; the culture (which I think not playing hardball is a huge part of) is one of the key reasons they decided what they did.

If you’ve watched the ‘Show Me The Money’ program on Stan you can clearly see the animosity of some of the ex-Fremantle players because Peter Bell plays hardball. There’s also a lot of Essendon losing out on players because of it as well.

It’s an interesting discussion as to what is promoted by certain teams.

What did the HH haters think of his match winning heroics , you’ll find his spec y and goal on afl web , prob just added 1y to his terms
Considering he plays in a foward line consisting of
Hogan - Cadman - Greene and sometimes Riccardi taking foward space

He is doing fine
perhaps some think he is just another McStay
