I’m still in disbelief that our club has just upped the entire AFL and is going to nab two (2!!!) A grade mids in one off season, transforming our weakest line to one of our strongest. I can’t think of another AFL trade period where a club has managed to bring 2 players of Taranto and Hoppers caliber? It’s hard enough to bring in an A grader most of the time.

I mean Carlton got 2 b graders for an a grade salary in Saad and Williams. Bombers did get Saad, Stringer and Smith but serious question marks on injury and consistency. Taranto and Hopper have limited injury history and have huge work ethics and high standards of professionalism.

Plus we beat out Collingwood and Geelong for both players!! These are the only other Vic teams that have actually been competent in the league since 2017, with multiple prelim and grand final appearances (well pies 1 granny).

And then we have gall to underpay in salary and trade for both.

It’s freakin mental!! Our club is incredible!!

To me it sounded like he said Richmond have been great to deal with and needed to get Taranto out of the way first to get other deals done and Richmond agreed and are happy to wait to get the deal done later

mentioned Soldo is in play and sounded positove about the deal but needed to be conservative with what he said
To me it sounded like F1+Soldo or F1+31 will get the deal done

100%. There is no way we would split the Taranto deal on day 1 unless we had an in principle agreement on Hopper.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Jake Riccardi coming our way as steak knives on the Hopper deal if we are adding to our own offer going to them. He has shown glimpses and would benefit from a year or two with Jack Riewoldt guiding him.
Would cost bugger all and be a free swing at finding a servicable
Key forward.

Would be nice to have Riccardi and Bauer developing in the VFL, allong with Ryan spending most of his time developing in the starting ruck role with Soldo gone.

Yep, it is bloody mental, still can't believe we have been able to get Taranto with only one first round pick and that isn't even in the Top10.

Imagine the Melts if trading out Soldos contract gave us the room in the cap to take on Bowes contract and we finish the trade period with Taranto, Hopper and pick 7 with which we select the best KPF in the draft lol
