Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Only interesting bit regarding us

Richmond is keen to hold onto Ivan Soldo despite Port Adelaide’s interest in him as a ruckman to play alongside Jordan Sweet.

Soldo battled plantar fascia issues this season but his form was strong playing the last seven games of the year in a row.

The Power has delisted ruckman Brynn Teakle and, while it has offered Scott Lycett another year, footy boss Chris Davies said last week he was banged up and pondering retirement.

That is unlikely, with the Roos, St Kilda, Geelong and Essendon all needing a back-up ruckman.

But Richmond has no intention of releasing Soldo, given it has only young rucks Samson Ryan and Ben Miller under co-captain Todd Nankervis.

He comes out of contract next year but they could still trade him then so aren’t inclined to let him go.

Under new coach Adem Yze, the Tigers will need to get a trade deal done for Hawthorn’s Jacob Koschitzke, who has asked for a trade to Punt Road.

Thanks. Hopefully we're just playing the game. Soldo should go.

Out of interest what was the news on Harrison Petty? I rate him

If you could pick one player from any other team to fill a need for Richmond, who would you pick?

My short-list:
  • Josh Kelly - I've been a long time fan. All class and his foot skills are something I've always wanted to see at our club.
  • Tom Green - Probably don't need to explain this one. We need that explosive big body mid that has a good turn of foot.
  • LDU - See above explanation.
  • Aaron Naughton/Charlie Curnow/Jye Amiss - self explanatory
If I had to pick one it would probably be LDU.

Curnow and Lynch would be unstoppable

Just that he & Sparrow won't be part of any trade for McAdam

I think culturally we don't force trade players, but as balme has said if a player asked to leave for whatever reason we could discuss. Bolton and bakers names cone up as they are from Perth etx. Lynch has come up as with him forward melbourne can win the premiership, so it's up to him if he wants to chase more premierships or is happy to stick around and help the younger players. Interestingly not many ask to leave except fringe types like butler, chol, ccj,etc or those offered much better deals like Ellis.

Not sure about the thoughts of any of our players, none seem to have come out and asked for a trade which probably speaks about us being a good place to be.

Have a mate over in WA and he says he hears that West Coast are going really really hard this year for Baker and are throwing huge money and possible leadership opps at him. Dont know if he is saying that to wind me up because he knows Bakes is my favorite player or if there is actually anything to it.

Have you heard any whispers around that?
He’s contracted , I think they’d park that ambition for 12m when he’s off contract , fwiw I expect he’ll be in our leadership group

Suppose a Geelong lackey gets a job with the AFL that would give him access to information on player payments and coincidentally Geelong identifies a player with a large back ended contract from a club with salary cap problems and organised a salary dump deal that lands them a high draft pick. Somehow the AFL did not identify this as a possible conflict of interest and approved it anyway. That Mr Scott is a blatant manipulation

We should really just trade Soldo, hopefully it is just posturing and we are just trying to work our way into ports future first by including Graham and/or a second round pick, considering we were willing to trade him to GWS 12 months ago for effectively a second round pick. Nank, Ryan and Soldo are never going to all play in the same team and given Ryan’s age and Skillset we should prioritise him and his development also the fact that Ryan is out of contract in 2024. Maybe Soldo is better than Nank on current form but we aren’t going to drop or trade the captain, and Ryan, Miller and the two Cat B rookies is ample depth. If worst comes to worst Balta and Kosi can even ruck

If I had to pick one it would probably be LDU.

Josh Kelly pretty much always misses a chunk of games every season due to soft tissue injuries, so would probably be missing at minimum half a season once Meehan gets a hold of him. He also signed a 8 year contract on $8m 2 years ago, so no thanks on that as well.

LDU has shown some really good things, but also has a history of injuries and really inconsistent form. His best is an explosive, big bodied midfielder out of stoppages, but he hasn't shown that he is capable of being consistent at it.

Aaron Naughton over hyped, imo. Showed really good promise when he burst onto the scene, and looked like a genuine star key fwd in the making. But hasn't really improved all that much since, and only talked about as an 'elite' key fwd cause of what we think he can do, rather than what he is currently showing.

I differ a bit on these. Kelly I thought was superb this year and terrific in the finals. But he is kicking on now.

Uniacke is exactly the player we need, a class inside mid who can burst out of stoppages to complement Taranto and Hopper. Just hit his prime.

Naughton out of the same draft as Uniacke. Naughton is a gun key forward imo, no hype required. His returns in 2023 were his best ever. He is a proven contested mark, also wins ground balls, and has returned 2.9 goals + assists the last 2 seasons, which is very healthy for a key forward, without being at the very top of his position. However, in 2023 he saw great improvements to record career best in:

Player rating 10.88(previous best 9.97) ranked 5th amongst genuine key forwards

Contested possessions 6.8(previous best 6.4) ranked 2nd amongst permanent key forwards who haven't spent decent time rucking

Ground ball gets 3.3(previous best 3.1 playing defence, 2.9 playing attack) 3rd amongst genuine key forwards

Goal assists 1.0(previous best 0.6) 1st amongst key forwards

Score involvements 6.3(previous best 6.2) 5th amongst key forwards

Tackles 2.6(previous best 2.3) probably 1st amongst genuine key forwards who played over 10 matches.

Pressure acts 12.2(previous best 11.0) Probably 1st amongst genuine key forwards

These are all very healthy numbers and show him to be a really good all round footballer, who just happens to play at Full Forward. I don't think he has been surrounded by the right type of players at Bulldogs, so he has been in a tough school. Naughton would be right up our alley as a key forward. If you just look at Naughton's goals scored he is about AFL #15. If you look at his whole game he is right up near the pointy end of key forwards. He would be a dream recruit for us.

Give us Naughton and Uniacke we'd have a hell of a team. Sadly, we are not getting any of these guys.

Geez we really need a doozy or this trading season is going to boring AF for us. I nominate the bloke from Port Adelaide who does the robin hood goal celebration for our 2024 second round pick. Dooooooooozzzzzzyyyyyy

Duursma? **** no. He’s shit and he rates himself. He’s at the right team at the right time right now. Hard pass

Was surprised at the time we cut this young fella after 2y thought he’d acquitted himself well at VFL, I’d dead set starring at WAFL ,and had 37p in the GF , get him back

There were some surprising sacking back than as some of these guys didn't get much chance due to our success but the dross they brought in was way worse makes you wonder sometimes.

For memory Turner and English were both victims of the AFL mandatory list reductions after the first COVID impacted season in 2020.

Think it was that timing and not having a contract more than anything that saw them delisted.

Soldo going nowhere – for now

It is good that we are playing hard ball on Soldo. Other clubs are also circling but I don't see him being traded unless we get a good offer.

Take this Lion off our future Hit list.

Brisbane has kick-started talks that will see key playmakers Hugh McCluggage and Keidean Coleman sign new long-term deals with the Lions before the start of next season.

McCluggage and Coleman both come out of their existing deals at the end of 2024, and would be highly-sought-after players if they were on the open market.

But it is understood the Lions are well advanced on bedding down new deals in the pre-season with both McCluggage, 25, and Coleman, 23, who are key planks to the club’s long-term future as well as being critical stars in the Lions’ push for its first flag in 20 years this weekend.

McCluggage was locked away on a three-year-deal early in 2021 and seems certain to waive his free agency rights by agreeing to lock into a long-term deal deep into the decade.

The Victorian would attract enormous interest from clubs in his home state, but the wing-midfielder has thrived in his time in Brisbane and is now one of the club’s vice captains.

He is considered a future captain and already works closely with the club’s co-skippers Lachie Neale and Harris Andrews.

He seems certain to stay, as does Coleman, who elevated his price-tag with a stunning preliminary final performance against Carlton last week.
