Makes it much more appealing but realistically the best outcome is probably 25-30.

But now having two 2nd rounders + our first means we are in a very strong position next year to trade up when clubs are looking to accumalate points for F/S (Camporeale twins) and the inevitable academy players.

Hawthorn only want picks for Kosi.

We only had x amount of picks to offer, so they know what we can only offer x,y,z etc.

If we then trade a player asset into 2 picks, then by default we have more picks the hawks believe they can get us to part with for Kosi.

Therefore, the club should have been hell keen to get this deal done early in the trade period & before making a Soldo deal as it strengthened their dealings with Hawthorn to trade at that time. By doing Soldo first, it has only increased the bounty pool the Hawks will target for Kosi.

To confirm for Soldo we got...

Pick 41, 2023

-Dockers F2 / around 33-35

-a pick upgrade from 49 to 50

- a 4th round pick that is likely a amongst the last few picks in the draft

So basically its pick 35 + 41. The 2nd being the Dockers is definitely a better outcome tho.

Let me put that into perspective. Sydney traded #46 and their F2 for Grundy. So we got a better deal for Soldo than Demons got for Grundy, who is getting $250k/year of his salary paid for by the Pies …. yet you’re still not happy.

And you’ve said 33-35 for Freo’s F2. They’ve lost Schulz and Henry, and picked up no-one. They could finish anywhere from 6th to 16th IMO.

We clearly do not rate this draft and there’s no way we are going to give up a decent pick next year for a late first in this years draft.
As I’ve said a few times on here, if Blair and Clarke don’t rate a draft, we trade out of it. I’m sure that’s why the Kosi trade is being held up as we are trying to get them to take a pick(s) in this years draft. I think Blair will stand firm with what he’s offering, certainly hoping he does, but won’t be too shattered if it turns out to be a future 4th rounder

Don't see why we wouldn't have had a go at that.

I think Billings would've just hampered the development of Clarke, Coulthard or Banks. We are lacking the forward half pressure that Castagna, Dan Rioli and Lambert used to provide like what the Giants and Pies have currently, Billings would've just added to that deficiency.

I'd honestly hold for next year, this draft top end isn't deep.

We'll be in a very strong position next year to trade up.

Considering the first this year is likely to end around pick 24, then yes. AFL is just giving everyone first round comp now as they haven't adjusted for salary cap increases. Plus all the Father/Sons. Then all the Priority picks they are giving out. Then all the Academy picks that get plucked out. These days by the time the 2nd round begins, the top 30 young players are already gone, so thats what its actually worth. A 2nd rounder is how long is a piece of string. They have royally ****ed it up.

I would say Dockers are in that 12th to 5th range. They have yo-yo'd for a few years and will likely find some consistency in the next few years

They were going well. We actually saw the ball hit in our mids actual advantage which isn’t the same as “hit out to advantage” stat implies.

Noticeably against Melbourne where our mids were well on top until Soldo tired.

WGAF … Pies just won a flag after getting rid of Grundy and with Cox in the ruck. Carlton made a PF with a raw TDK and Pittonet. Demons have lost 4 x finals in a row with one of the greatest rucks in the history of the game. GWS almost made a GF with a ruckman who’d played 20 games in Briggsy.

Hawks had a dynasty with a hotch potch of Hale, McEvoy and Bailey. Lions had a dynasty with Keating. We had one with Nank. Eagles won a flag with NicNat injured. Sydney won a flag with that Canadian dude. Dogs won a flag with Boyd in the ruck.

Ruck is the most un-important position on the ground.

Cox is a better ruck than nankervis. If you actually believed that dribble the. Rewatch the Brisbane elim game we lost, Nankervis’s shit ruck work kept Brisbane on the game.

Personally I think Fremantle will improve next year and most likely finish top 8. So it being port or Freos second round pick is meh.

It's a average return of a starting quality Ruck aged 27. Short term it hurts. If Nank goes down we will get slaughtered, and i mean slaughtered out of the middle. Teams like the Dogs, Lions, Demons will absolutely hold our hair and ask us to count to 10

With the Gold Coast 3 academy picks, will it mean our picks are actually a few places higher than when they are now? As they will need to use their picks up as points?

Doggies have Croft as well but is there any other F/S that might counter it?
