Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

tugga you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread.

it's not doom and gloom, it's just a transition, we have many cooked players, old players and lots of young players with not that much in between.
Still no, you're looking at it from a doom and gloom angle. How you play one year is not how you will play the following year, apparently the pies were cooked in 2021 when they finished 17th, GWS were cooked last year when they finished 16th.

Prepare to be surprised.

so you want me to be just rose coloured? This is a forum, it's not a place for rose coloured, unless being truthful upsets?
Our team is developing, not challenging.

Ports interest in JG will depend on the form of Ollie Wines. He was putrid last year given his contract and $$$, so if he has another season like that, expect him to be on the move, and Port look to fill the role of a big body inside mid, where pace isn't a factor.

= Jack Graham

I think Graham is destined for Port Adelaide.
He is a free Agent so they won’t need to give up draft capital after trading pretty aggressively for JHF, Soldo, Ratugolea. Boak will retire and I can see Ollie Wines being traded to a Geelong or Collingwood, leaving midfield minutes for Graham. Graham has had interest in going to port before, when the arrival of Taranto and hopper meant he was going to be pushed out of the midfield, but then port saw an opportunity to get JHF.
That might have burnt the bridges between port and graham as far as graham is concerned. They got him in to tour the club, which was meant to be on the QT as he said he was “going to visit family in SA” but it was caught on camera, then left him with egg on his face after they found out JHF wanted a trade. His management didn’t seem too happy about it in interviews I saw post trade period last year

People keep saying JGTI is an inside mid. When was the last time he actually played there? 2017?
isn't that half the problem, he's playing in a position with us that doesn't suit him, nor is he that good at.

2018-2019 I reckon he was playing in that role for parts

I love Jack Graham for what he has done for this club.
However, if he isn't playing predominantly in the two's next year I'll be very concerned.

He is that far gone it's not even funny.
That means nothing if we don't have blokes pushing past him.

Yeah it's strange. He was a contested ball winning beast as an u18, SA captain + Larke medalist yet we never really tried him there in the last few years when we were desperate for a big inside mid.

It's up to our kids to push players like him out.

Yeh, but obviously there was concerns from most clubs with him getting to our pick in the 50's...
Maybe they were right about him long term, we were jsut lucky enough to squeeze the best out of him when he was young

its hard to believe he is only 25 still with all he has achieved and done with the club. but to write him off after missing the last two pre seasons is a bit rough. see how he goes in 2024 if he is able to complete a full pre season. i for one am expecting a spike in performance.

He has played the high half forward over the years because we have Prestia, Cotchin, Martin, Bolton, Edwards and now Hopper and Taranto in the midfield, and he is/was never going to replace those players. And he is not what we need in the middle right now, another medium paced midfielder.

He has played his present role pretty much since he got in the side, because that is the only role available and he is actually quite suited to because of his running power and a bit of muscle around the packs. Just that he has gone backwards due to injury and that he has lost some of his pace.

He will have to fight for a spot like all the rest of the bottom 6-8 players now, rather than be an auto selection under Hardwick. Will be interesting to see how he goes.

With a new game plan or style of play, it’s going to be very interesting for me to see how they ALL go. Players will be given defined roles by the sound of things, to suit their respective strengths, and asked to perform. I’m really looking forward to seeing what it looks like

I hope we see some players re-invented in roles that better that suit their skill set, would help the bounce back alot.

Exactly right! I think the way we play under Yze will be much more through the middle of the ground. He’s also apparently very big on forward half pressure and ball retention in that part of the ground. MJR having a big offseason and returning in peak physical condition would be a great start and Coulthard having a full AFL preseason will also help.

So much hinges on players like Coult, Cumbo and MJ - all 3 have the potential to play every game and impact our onfield success, but all 3 could just easily be off the list in 12 months.

His problem is that he’s being phased out.

50% centre bounces this year with some low numbers late in the season.
Last year it was 71%.

With a young mid group there his prospects aren’t improving.

I agree, but that may be why Port remain interested, they will be able to get him for a bag of chips by offering opportunity

I think it was Jamie Elliott who said…He’s never seen a 16 year old literally reverse out of a pack with the ball, like Dusty did…And he still does, 16 years later…He could be our Brent Harvey…
Never thought Dusty was into whale watching and hunting

WOW, so being negative and forecasting doom and gloom is the way to go, if that's your safety blanket then go for it.
Don't try psycho analyse me you wonnabe psychologist.

I'm not forecasting doom and gloom, I'm calling it as it is, we are rebuilding.
Just incase you haven't noticed we lost a lot of our premiership players.
We are not the force we were. how is that doom and gloom? maybe you have that security blanket you mentioned on the brain?

I think they did it because Dimma externalised results and told them he didn't have the players good enough to succeed & convinced them they needed Hopper & Taranto to stay competitive & keep him invested.

and then he quit anyway cos he is a shitcampaigner

Speaking of which, has anyone got more context to this quote doing the rounds atm? Apparently said it in 2023 after the Bombers loss. What was the context to him saying this as on face value, he seems like a massive flog to say that to the group, considering how shithouse his coaching strategy has been since he lost the greatest team of assistants ever compiled

He nailed it. Bombers that night had a bunch of their best players out of their team. We had a handy lead at 3/4 time which went to 18-point when Dusty kicked the first goal of the last .. Bombers had won 2 of their previous 20 games trailing at 3/4 time.

We were still up by 12 with only 5-minutes left. Then we choked …. again.

Bombers then turned to complete dog sh*te later in the year, proving they were a bunch of spuds.

There’s by thousands of things said behind closed doors by all coaches way worse than this every single year … this became public as Cotchin wrote a book and Dimma’s tirade was out of character and it signalled something was amiss.

It doesn’t need any more context. It was a locker room comment never meant to see the light of day.
