I don’t think highway robbery like bakes is rubbish , he’s finished high up in bf in a damned good side and been a qty finals player too
Serong is Freo’s contracted 23 year old reigning best and fairest winning vice captain who was also All Australian and finished top ten in the Brownlow last year

The kid is a gun

Baker is a great player but is there is a clear gap in talent between those two. Plus Baker is three years older and out of contract

Cheers did t realise he won bf or was top 10 brownlow is he happy in WA

Brisbane have Levi Ashcroft (rated top 5 currently) & Sam Marshall (rated top 25)
Adelaide have Tyler Welsh (rated top 5)
Suns have Leonardo Lombard (rated top 10) & Caleb Nancarrow (rated top 15)
Swans have Joe Harrison (rated top 10)
Carlton have Ben & Lucas Camporeale (both rated top 25)

So there are plenty of clubs that will require picks to bank points and we're in good position with our haul to be able to cash in.
Anything we can death ride the shizen out of Carlton for is fine by me, just need these kids to star in their draft yr & we can Banderas.gif all the way to the Draft.

The only one i'd be interested in is Uber Hagan. He may fit the need pending the Balta up fwd experiment which way that goes. He'd cost us abit but he is of a need.
He's a bit hit & miss with huge potential. He'd cost a fortune to get across given the bidding war that will take place. If Balta breaks out as a fwd this yr JUH becomes less of a need post Lynch. That could also be part of the reason we have shifted Balta fwd. if it works we already have our next KPF, if not we know & can seek to get 1 in from elsewhere. i'd still like to see us draft 1 with our raft of picks we'll have & they'll have time to develope & be able to play when they are ready & not before.

Baker has something that is in short supply down Fremantle way, a premiership.

That in itself makes up the difference, we need to see more Chris Groom/Andrew McLeod type trades

After last night, it was clear that we need foot skills and speed.

We really need to try and start to pluck some under utilised talent from the 19-22 drafts.

We also really need to make a shift back to rebuilding a strong core of the club. We are 2 young mids, 1 young key back and 1 young key forward short. We also need to be playing the damn kids to get then experience.

If we do end up bottom four, do we make the hard call and let Bakes go as a free agent to get the extra pick in the top 5, or do we keep him as our future captain?
Scrap that — just realised he's not a free agent. Point remains though, I guess. Would need a very high pick to be comfortable if he did want out.

Take the pick. Especially if it’s top 10.

Bakes is very good. But we are ok for half backs. Personally I don’t think he’s a mid or a small forward. So unless he plays half back we aren’t getting full value from him on field.

How do you fit short baker Rioli a brown or hodge jr into our backline?

If we finish Bottom four (looks more likely) we may have a lot of experience leave at the end of the year. To name a few:
Dusty - GC
Bakes - WA
Broad - WA
Grimes - Retire

Can see Baker being used along with another pick to get west coasts first pick which will probably be pick 1 or 2.

I’d be going after young guys who should be getting a go. Angus Sheldrick from the Swans is a good example.
Na don’t think our list is at that point yet
If we go down that route we could end up with a fair few cloggers stealing games from kids

Just hit the draft hard for the moment

Early days yet...The Club needs Ooze and Co to work out our bottom line team wise...ala using Louie's scalpel...
Two praccy games is not enough data to work that out!...need more pressure games...and more games in the VFL for the older players...
Also need to work out which of the experienced players are worth keeping to help with the development of the younger players...
And which of the younger promising players are worth persevering with...
Once Ooze has worked that conundrum out...then its time for fine tinkering!
Not all doom and gloom...
