Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Did you watch him at VFL level? He was poor.

Personally, I think every single one of our key position players apart from Lynch, Jack, Grimes (and I guess Broad if you want to count him as a key def) had they development affected due to being thrown from key fwd, to key def to ruck.

Less so for Balta last season, but definitely in seasons prior, whereas Miller and Biggie were both drafted as key defs, trained and played as key defs for most of their careers at the club, but due to injuries/poor list management/other reasons, have been thrown all over the ground last season.

We've even seen the same with Gibcus in his debut season as well as Bauer in the VFL (started as a fwd before being played down back).

Personally, I don't think many of our younger key position players have had a fair chance in their development to truly nail down a specific position and hone their craft at it.

we seem afraid to lock a player into a position because we're traditionally poor at developing talls. we keep second guessing our management of kpp to their detriment. it's a vicious cycle.

Interesting point. Maybe tall players lock themselves into a KPF or KPD spot. Harris Andrews or the King twins. Nyoun was playing ruck during his draft year. I think Miller was actually ruck too...Miller had a good debut vs Hawks but then we bring Tarrant & Gibcus in, and he's pushed back. Bring Young in and Miller and Biggie pushed back in the order.

Obviously weren't drafted to be rucks and they are depth to to AFL level KPPs.

Milller is about par. Good depth. Bauer was not killing it as a forward and got moved back until Morris chucked him fwd late one game. Kicked 4 for a win.

Bigoa kicked a 2.7 one game.

There are some players that are going to be there from a Culture point of view but I think that if we want to accelerate any rebuild we need to;

  • Try and get the best possible pick for Martin. Lets be honest if he still wants to play then he doesnt want to be part of what we are.
  • Convince Bolton that he is better off else where. He is not the type of player that a developing/rebuilding side needs.
  • We NEED to keep Baker for leadership and culture
  • We need to go to best player available mentality
  • We need to rebuild our Spine. We have Gibcus so we now need at least 2 good young mids and a good tall forward.

Good lord, we have some panic merchant supporters. One game in to a new coaching regime and resultant game plan reshuffle and we are getting rid of two of our best players! Just amazing really, especially when you think of where Giants and Scum were last year at the midway point. I’m hoping that’s our worst game (likely not imo), and we become more cohesive from hereon.

Agree we need to start with the spine. I really like Gibcus.

At the end of the day we will probably finish bottom 5-6 next few years and we need to stock up on a couple of key forwards and then mids.

I can see Balta/Gibcus holding the backline together for a decade and hopefully we can find a couple of gun forwards via the draft.

I notice Jedd Busslinger is out of contract and he's not likely to get much, if any game time at the dogs this year with all their talls.

He'd be a great target with one of those 2nd round picks.

Worth a shot IMO, 1st rounder when drafted. West Coast will most likely try and entice him home.

We need to trade Hopper out, move Prestia on (even if that's retirement) and try and draft as many decent young mids as we can.

We just can't carry Taranto, Hopper, Dusty & Prestia in the same midfield.
I agree that Prestia might be on the way out now sadly, but let's see how things look when we get Dusty back and tinker with the team a bit. Would love to see McAuliffe come in too.

Yeah look it is only our 2nd game of the year this week, so I get it. I am concerned that even though Yze spoke about not living in the past, I think by rounds 8-9 not much will have changed, and those premiership players will still get games over others on the list.

Unfortunately, tough decisions need to be made on some of our premiership heros, Grimes & McIntosh are the other 2 who should be used as back up players this year.

Hopper and Taranto can work in the same midfield. They're both inside mids with average at best disposal but they play the role differently. Hopper is a bash and crash big body with a good side step through traffic while Taranto is more gut running, outworking, bottom of the pack ball winner. Either way, we're stuck with them long term so Yze has to find a way to make them click. Perracca and Oliver (yes, I know they're better) are both poor by foot but work together well.

The problem is Prestia at the moment. He's lost some pace and fumbles a lot more. Those 3 arent a good mix, or at least didnt look like it on the weekend. We need some speed and skill in there. Dusty will help. Bolton rolling through there helps and McAuliffe should come in ASAP. I said in another thread its time to move Prestia onto a half forward flank and play Taranto, Hopper, Dusty/Bolton and McAuliffe in the guts.

There's a decent mix in there somewhere, Yze has to figure it out.

Yeah I tend to agree, my concern is I don't think Yze and the coaching staff will make the require moves quick enough.
