Our second best small fwd? Personally I'd select Cumbo

could well be since finding the tracker : Gresham wasn't top 5 in for any running stat in the RFC game. Coulthard has higher speed, and work rates.

I agree. I'd rather see us back Cumbo.

But my reason for not wanting Gresham isn't because he isn't talented. It's because I want us to bring in younger players.

I don't mind us trading in a couple of kids in their early 20s, but we've got enough 26 year olds as it is and they'll all be getting close to 30 by the time we're ready to compete for a flag again.

It's interesting. Gresham always seems to be decent. Except most Saints fans say to move him on as he is an absolute butcher with the ball.

I wouldn't be against that at all, I'm just looking at ways to get talent through the door as cheaply as possible.

I wouldn't have an issue if we didn't get Gresham, P Dow, Riccardi but instead got Fin Macrae, Sam Berry, McHenry, Jordon, Georgiadis, Koschitzke types.

You get the picture, we just need to find cheap smokies in the year we don't have draft capital. It's not hard to accept that we don't have much draft capital THIS year, some people acting like we're out of the draft for a decade with the amount of crying we see on this thread.

Add those to Sonsie, Gibcus, Brown, Banks, Clarke, Smith and things aren't nearly as bad as the man babies in here would make you believe when you add them to our mid age senior players.

Not sure bringing any so so mid age midfielders/half forwards into our team is what we need though.
Last thing we need to do next year is keep our youth out of the side with average players.
If they are elite user’s of the ball, particularly by foot perhaps.
If they are key forwards absolutely.
We only should be bringing it n free agents that meet a need ATM. Not top up types.
I’d prefer to fill the list with kids from the draft. Take those late picks and rookies that may work out, may not.
I’d prefer to try 5 of those over the next few years for one successful pick than an average skilled ho hum player clogging the list and keeping youth out of the team.

Club captain got traded. That’s the comparison. Doesn’t matter who requested. He was captain and was traded. It’s a factual comparison.

There’s a myth that it would blow up the place. People act like there would be a curse on the place. It’s not true.

I’m not going to be upset if we keep Nank but, I think it would be beneficial as his influence on the field declines. It’s a thought to discuss on the forum.

I agree with you. Though Grundy at 700k, which is what Melbourne paid was a bargain.

I would say that Nank’s rucking is mostly a negative. When Soldo played a full game he did well against Melbourne and we in that game until he tired.

Both in the perfect age bracket. 22-23 will be in their prime when we are pushing back up. Wouldn’t have thought either would cost an arm or leg.

1.2mil off the books, oh yeah we not paying him to play elsewhere, he wants to go so does his contract. As he is contracted for 2024 it will be a case of cough up Gold Coast and as an added bonus we then have 1.2m approx to wave at the competition to see which gun player wants to come play for the tigers.

So you see Mitch it really is a win/win for us, Dusty stays and we bank his cash and can really cozy up to a gun player or two we want to step in when the great one retires or we get them now plus a gun kid in the process.
