Why would he need to do that when he already has 1.3 on the table guaranteed next year? Won’t be worth any more money

Jake Riccardi and James Jordan would be an ideal start.

Riccardi would lock down CHF for us.

Both in the perfect age bracket. 22-23 will be in their prime when we are pushing back up. Wouldn’t have thought either would cost an arm or leg.

James Jordan is an unrestricted free agent so he'd cost bugger all other than game time. If it meant getting kmac off a wing I'm all for it. He's a decent kick at least.

1.2mil off the books, oh yeah we not paying him to play elsewhere, he wants to go so does his contract. As he is contracted for 2024 it will be a case of cough up Gold Coast and as an added bonus we then have 1.2m approx to wave at the competition to see which gun player wants to come play for the tigers.

So you see Mitch it really is a win/win for us, Dusty stays and we bank his cash and can really cozy up to a gun player or two we want to step in when the great one retires or we get them now plus a gun kid in the process.

And $1.2M extra on the Suns books to squeeze out a couple of their gun sub-23-year-olds our way.

We’ve seen premiership champs like Shedda, Cotch, JR, Lambert finish up 1 club players. It’d sting to see the greatest of them all in other colours.
However if it gets us a 10 year A grader then you’ve got to be philosophical.
At the end of the day it’s all about getting into the position to compete for more silverware again

Just think a genuine kpf is far greater priority.
Silvagni is no hack but you’re likely playing above market value to get him to swap clubs and doing a trade, the price is just too high.
I’d prefer to continue playing Bauer in that 3rd tall role and looking at trading into the draft to nab Nate Caddy . Caddy and Bauer playing the same role Silvagni would be and we are building a forward line that’ll be primed for the next premiership assault.

I think silvagni will go for opportunity. He is behind so many players at Carlton. At us I think he is number 2 forward whilst lynybs in, and number 1 if lynch is out. Even if we recruit another forward n a year or 2 it just replaces lynch. Dare I saw silvagni could play 100 games straight in our forward line by the time better comes along

If he was intent on leaving and we’d never bloody know until it’s done , The mechanics would be we pay 1/2 salary and command top 10 pic plus hollands that release 600 or so for them to accommodate dusty

Yes good old Danny Meyer. Was in a system that produced so much. Top talented kid who was continually misused but suffered from a bit of homesickness. Had all the talent in the world. Don’t think I compared him to Ian Stewart to be fair but not like you to overhype something to make a point.

He’s got a bit of support on here.

Definite NO for me though, I am happy to roll the dice with Bauer next year and see what the draft turns up.
Still going to cost us 4-500k (minimum ), and a trade/pick. ok we may have the cap space, but leave the room for a target in the future that better suits our needs

Really don’t want Dusty to go, but we would win either way IMO. If he stays, then we get more of him. If he leaves, then Gold Coast will work something out with us in terms of picks. They’re usually not a difficult club to deal with at the trade table, so I’m sure we’ll work something out.

Only time we lose is if we continue to pay a big portion of his salary over the next few years after leaving.

Agreed, I don’t think it tarnishes his legacy I was just saying I’d be disappointed to see him in another jumper . There’s obviously long term benefits to getting back into the draft however and there may not be a lot of other opportunities to do this

People can live with Dusty going but lose their shit at Nankervis being traded. It’s a strange thought process. One of our greatest of all time players who is still performing at an elite level to leave would rip the heart out of the joint.
