Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

tugga you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread.

chalk and cheese. Lot of water under the bridge since then and as stated by others, the AFL looks very closely at the US in conjunction with our laws. Ain't no way the Players Association will sign off on being traded without consent, and in reply, some of those freedoms players might want are also off the table.

Laws haven’t fundamentally changed. It’s why the afl steps in to mediate some of these disputes. O my takes one court case and the whole draft and trading system will be out the window.

Laws haven't - how the whole system was set up has. The NRL version was quite different IIRC from my sports mgmt days at uni, there was never any real desire for it from players or clubs (run then and probably now, by old school power brokers who thought their system worked just fine). The AFLPA get their way with min 95% salary cap and various other concessions (restricted FA, three strikes policy etc), that's why the Collective Bargaining Agreements are critical.

We should be checking them out too, their VFL team is destroying everyone.

Feel like they have a lot of in-betweeners. Players too good for VFL, but can't crack it at AFL.

Sam Day and Chris Burgess regularly kick bags upon bags in the VFL, but do you really think they can replicate even half of it AFL level?

Quite a few ex afl listed players as well from memory

We could do a lot worse than Elliott... Would be dirt cheap in a trade.

25 years old, 200cm mobile tall who can kick goals and pinch hit in the ruck.

To put it bluntly, he's everything that Miller pretends to be.

Yeah right, with Tex in his last years, there is no way he is going anywhere

Wouldn’t have said it 8 weeks ago, but he’s a keeper.
There’d be no shortage of bidders , but why trade him for a crappy R2 pick when you’ve then got to go and look for someone to replace him.
I've been liking the look of the two ruck setup in the last couple of weeks. Since his ACL, a lot of people of people have forgotten that Soldo is a very handy player.

Listen here clowns, how the * do you think GC get Dusty and also retain the picks required for points get their 3 elite kids in the door???

They cant afford to give up an early pick for Dusty. They also cannot afford his salary or even close to it.

The only crazy way they could make it happen is to trade out elite kids for more picks and why the eff would they do that?

Dusty isnt worth a top 10 pick FFS, this board would be broken if we traded a top 10 pick for a 33 year old player of any given talent level. Calm ya ****, you are embarrassing us all.
Ha funny. They already have extra picks this year forward traded from last year. Also they don’t want to have their first pick eaten up by academy player so they want to trade that out and get back some other picks (which total more in points). Not rocket science. But yes u r correct on Suns not having salary cap space for dusty.

They still have Thilthorpe and Gallant.

Himmelberg head can be turned very easily.
Didn't you say that about his brother lol

Seriously though, is he just the same player as Samson? Well you want him if you are worried about Lynch not coming right but if not ...

No.

We need to look for cheap options as I don't like our chances at getting Georgiadis. He'll have more appealing offers like Melbourne - who are really into him - and Hawthorn who's list is looking more appealing to the neutral.

We need to be creative and look for low cost options like this Himmelberg, Silvagni, etc. who are free agents or 4th round trades because I for one cannot watch another season of Miller pretending to be a footballer in our forward line.

Lynch, Bauer and Balta will play forward Round 1, no?

Maybe we said no to Carr because Georgiadis wants to leave to get away from him ??

Balta top 3 in the entire league as an intercept defender - robbing Peter to pay Paul.

We've seen this movie before, he is NOT a forward.

Mini throwing him forward is an indictment on his coaching more than anything else. Our defence is under siege and no defender would cope with the amount of inside 50's under his coaching reign.

We all love Lynch but unfortunately he's very injury prone over the past 2-3 years. We need options as he's unlikely to play 22 games.

Bauer showing promise but I liken him to a Fritsch role, not a key forward.

What I am doing if I am Richmond's new coach

Firstly, 2024 is a transitional year. It gives us one last roll of the dice on players like Ralphsmith, Dow, Cumberland, with a fresh voice to see if they will fit the new style we want to play and the direction we want to take. Our draft hand is bare, and hence, we need to keep much of our current crop listed for one more year. This will have to occur as we will struggle to have a significant draft hand and just how many rookie picks and preseason picks can we fit into a line up? We need genuine A grade talent now, then we can build around them. Deledio (1), Cotchin (2), Martin (3), Riewoldt (8), Rance (19) all were absolutely pivotal to get our next dynasty up. The preseason picks came later to compliment the cream. we have run out of cream, we need top end picks and we will need to be strategic if we want to get them.

My captain is Dusty, the greatest player this club has had since Kevin Bartlett, arguably the greatest tiger since Jack Dyer, he's my captain. I've called for it for two years, but I was laughed at, he should have always been the successor, Grimes & to a lesser extent Nank has not worked at all. My VC will be three 23-26 year olds who all have demonstrated high work rate off the field and significant professionalism. One of these three will be the Dusty successor. My team by Round 1 2024 will be this,

B: Vlastuin, Gibcus, Broad
HB: Rioli, Young, Baker
C: Banks, Dusty, Taranto
HF: Short, Ryan, Shai
FF: Cumberland, Lynch, Rioli
R: Soldo, Prestia, Hopper
I/C: Grimes, Miller, Dow, Ross

Captain: Dustin Martin
VC: Tim Taranto, Liam Baker & Daniel Rioli

Retirements
Jack Riewoldt
Robbie Tarrant
Trent Cotchin
Jason Castagna

Draft Picks
Our draft hand this year is bad. Not much much is available as it would be a complete and utter firesale if we offloaded many of our stars. So much needs to be considered. Firstly, our list managers and recruiters have most likely not done their due diligence on the current crop of draftees. We are out of this draft, then...just let's be out of it. Invest in the 2024 draft and swap our Pick 26 for a pick in the 2024 draft.

Once that occurs, our recruiters will have 12 months to put their work into the 2024 crop, spend significant time in the department and GET THESE PICKS RIGHT. Can we package picks 15, 23, 26 for a Pick 7 or 9? Yes. Then we have Picks 4, 8, 9 and much like Richmond, Melbourne, Hawthorn... you can genuinely start to build a list with core elite youth when you have that many top end picks. But a Jarrod Oakley Nicholls isn't far away from a Jack Riewoldt, a Ben Lennon isn't far off a Patrick Cripps, the picks need to be nailed and the best way is to gear up for the 2024 draft by investing in it and building a treasure chest for it.

2023 - 26, 45, 63, 81
2024 (assuming we finish bottom four) - Pick 4, 8, 15, 23, 26, 35, 42, 60 (include a few end of first rounders from the trades below)

Trading
Toby Nankveris -
He would have quite a lot of suitors and currency. He's a ruckman without leap and his age is perfect for a contending team. We can hinge our investments in Samson Ryan & Ivan Soldo. Nank also misses his annual 6-10 games per year through Ankle syndesmosis and suspension.

Likely to Receive - End of 1st Round Pick, Early 2nd Round Pick (15-25)
Suitors - Geelong, Port Adelaide, Sydney

Noah Balta - Tall versatile key position player with a booming boot, can be damaging in the right team and cause chaos for a contender. Unfortunately, he has shown lack of composure and genuine frustration as part of a middle range team, often having brain bursts and once his colours are lowered, struggles immensely to impact a game, rather, has an adverse affect for Richmond. Huge upside and great potential.

Likely to receive - Future 1st Round Pick (8-18)
Suitors - Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Collingwood

Jack Graham - Inconsistent and has immensely failed at having an impact as a midfielder. Played a pivotal role in our 2017 premiership but is living on reputation rather than fulfilled promise.

Likely to receive - Future 2nd Round Pick/Early 3rd Round Pick (35-45)
Suitors - Port Adelaide, Adelaide

Kamdyn McIntosh - Role Player and a favourite of Damien Hardwick, can go and join him.
Likely to receive - Probably a scooter.
Suitors - Gold Coast

2024 will be an interesting year.

I have a trade offer. If GWS miss finals, would you trade 2024r1 for 10,2024r3.
You can use 10,27,dusty for 4,2024r2 from Gold Coast.
So overall you lose dusty,27,2024r1
And gain 4, 2024r2,2024r3.
If you pay a fair chunk of dusty salary i guess gold coast might accept 45 rather than 27.
Nah. 10 and 2024 r2 for our 2024 r1 I'd probably do though.

What the actual **** is that.

You're sort of proposing as an example

27 and GCF2 probably are similar

Our future 1st and GC pick 4 are probably similar

So effectively we swap Dusty for Gold Coasts future 3rd round pick AND we pay some of his salary?

Sure, where do I sign....

SEN reporting Prestia could be keen to finish career in Qld ,,, 31yo this year , swap for Flanders ty very much ,, at worse we being in Matt crouch to replace

I can’t see it personally, building a house with his tradie mates and all his family is in Vic. If he was to leave I think we can replace him internally, with Taranto, hopper, Dow, sonsie, Ross, baker, Martin, Bolton, MRJ all options
