Melbourne knocked back pick 14 and McAdam for Petty. I've heard about overrating players before but surely Melbourne understands that kicking 6 against us when we'd checked out on the season doesn't make him the second coming of Plugger & Dunstall.

It's overs but they're also in the window and need a half decent KPF next year. Otherwise they'd be going in to 2024 with 3rd year Van Rooyen as their only real KPF. They'll need to hold on to Petty unless they can land another KPF from elsewhere....

Just landed Fullarton so wonder if they'll look at the trade again, especially if Adelaide are still willing to offer the same. It's the ultimate cash in moving on Petty for a R1 and McAdam

He’d almost be best 22 for us if his body is okay. At his best he was getting 25-30 a week, but got injured then got stuffed around by Bevo.

I’d be getting him in for sure. At worst he’s very handy depth.

Totally agree. If you follow some on the negative campaigners on this site, they would have dumped Rance because he made mistakes under pressure, Grimes because he had bad hamstrings, Bolton because he faded out of games and Baker because he was too small and not skilled enough. How about some of the negative campaigner come clean and tell us some of their negative comments they got wrong. Not likely I bet.

The classic is that they offer Kossi a 1-year contract but want an early second round pick from us but offer a third rounder for Chol after offering him a 4-year contract. Do they realise how stupid that made them seem?

petty is 25 and has played one good game in his career but our defence switched off cos of the umpire reaming

the campaigner reminds me of stephen jurica back in the 90s even that campaigner played a blinder once or twice

for them to knock back 14 alone is absolute lunacy

Imagine how appalling our midfield would be without Taranto and Hopper though.

Dow, Prestia, Sonsie, Bolton, ?

We'd lose by 10+ goals every week.

A Bolton, Prestia, Baker, Martin midfield wouldn't be too bad with Pickett, Ross and Graham filling in/playing the more disciplined roles.
Look at the Pies and Lions midfield in the Grand Final they hardly played any pure inside mids. Lions had Dunkley and maybe Robertson, Pies had Mitchell and Pendlebury the rest were all dynamic and capable runners.

Only Gibcus' body will stop him becoming a star IMO. The others who knows, none of them have really been given a chance under Dimma. Plenty of current stars didn't look it during their 2nd year. We shall see.

Sounds like Gibcus’ body is a major issue…we shouldn’t be considering him as part of our 2024 campaign

if he is right…it’s a bonus
