Trade Hypotheticals *MERGED THREADS*

To the few complaining about threads being merged. Maybe if you didn't waste your time bagging the mods for doing their job you would find the time to read through the merged threads. Ironic that isn't it!

Multiple threads will always be merged. It stops the board from being unnecessarily cluttered. Threads of the same topic won't be left opened just for your convenience.

And mod abuse will always be infracted! Tread carefully!

Keep up the good work Bee :thumbsu:

To all that are complaining, did you not see all the similiar useless threads popping up with all of the other threads being pushed onto the second page?

All these issues can be discussed in the one thread, I thought it was quite obvious.

If Carlton were able to add another gun power forward then Betts, Yarran and Garlett could co-exist quite easily. A top 5-man forward line creating enough defensive intensity that it would be punishing. It'd be difficult enough to play containing defense but then to have to rebound on top of it? Eek!

....
Garlett for Spangher straight swap would be good for both sides IMO. Garlett is surplus given Yarran/Betts

When a Weagleland supporters says "..would be good for both sides IMO..", you just know it ain't. lol. Sorry Weagle supporter, Garlett is a top-shelf talent who's enjoying his footy at the Blues, and is an integral part of our future. Not bad for a rookie pick eh? Spangher doesn't deserve a spot on our list, because Thornton, Waite, Jamo, Bower and Austin are all much better. Try the Tiges. They probably give you a 2nd round draft pick for Spangher. :)

Yep, the intention is to play all 3 eventually and we probably should have V Lions. Garlett was a great rookie pickup. :)

We have the upper hand despite the fact hes out of contract. Will sign on if no trade is done and has 3 clubs interested which are Carton, Saints and North.

He wants to leave, is out of contract and has three clubs looking at him, two of which are much better teams than the Eagles, and you have the upper hand?

You clowns let Garlett get drafted by us, we'll keep him thanks.

You could see that in the Brisbane game even without the third. You NEED to have someone better than Cameron Cloke to be able to pull it off though. With another good big power player down there you can use the smaller three guys without harming anything. However, with Cloke you can't.

Definitly need another tall forward marking option, personally would like to see Waite play CHF andrive upfield to create pressure then drop back in to take the mark. We could still use a second leading forward however, i know Cleve Hughes isn't the popular option as he is a one trick pony but if his one trick is lead, mark and kick then that opens up space for Fev and gives more options to the mids kicking in.

P.S. As my first post i decided i would just jump into the fray on this one

To those whinging about merged threads.

This thread is all about throwing up scenarios, not genuine trade prospects. When they become genuine trade prospects and a player is actually on the market, we allow the individual linked threads to stand alone. We have also provided a thread just for links so you can find these discussion threads.

Pie in the sky trades based on SEN rumours do not deserve individual threads. There is a common theme here so merging is not entirely unreasonable.

Further mod bashing on BigFooty is not on, even if it is the locals bashing their own mods. We give a lot more time and energy to this site than most, for zero incentive other than our love for Carlton and its community.

Cheerleading each other into mod abuse over a merged thread is pretty pedantic and immature and yet again, disappointing.

Congratulations on confirming our thoughts that you are a complete and utter moron.

A Garlett for Spangher straight swap would be good for both sides.....except for Carlton.

You say Garlett is surplus given Yarran/Betts, but fail to mention that Spangher is surplus given Jamison/Waite/Thornton/Bower/Austin.

Nice job

And I can't help but laugh at you for saying you have the upper hand even though he is out of contract.

I suppose that's like having the upper hand a few years ago with the Judd saga.

NOTE: IF SPANGHER WANTS TO LEAVE, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE UPPER HAND.

Is that clear enough for you?

If Spangher does want to leave and nominates a club, you have a few options:
1) Accept what is offered which may well be under the value you perceive Spangher to hold.
2) Decline what is offered and see him walk into the PSD and lose him for nothing.
3) Decline what is offered and manage to convince him to sign another contract. Somewhat unlikely if he is adamant on joining a Victorian club.

From your posts it seems as though you have a fundamentally flawed understanding on how trading works, particularly in cases where a player stipulates that he wants to leave his current club and join a specific club. That, or I'm giving you too much credit and you really are just a complete and utter moron.

Not sure about it being "fair" but I do think it is the absolute best case scenario for you if you decide to deal with Carlton.

To be honest I'm not sure I'd even be happy with that.
maybe not but I am sure that would be the offers from other clubs so lets say market value rather than fair.

Carlton chasing Spangher reminds me of Carlton going after Chris Johnson to fill a need.

Both Spangher and Johnson had OK games in late season matches.

Johnson was good playing on Hahn under Mark Riley...

Unless they're as talented as Warnock and fill a need, I'd rather we stop looking for a needs based pick ups from bottom teams.

Bower, Thornton, Waite, Austin and Jamison would be ahead of him in the pecking order at Carlton.

Easily.

I can't see what Spangher and Gibson would bring to Carlton that we don't already have. Spangher will only be a depth player and cover for injured players such as Waite.

The media are putting Spangher and Gibson with Carlton because they think Carlton needs any tallish defender.

And it sells papers to the Collingwood and Essendon sheep who read News Ltd and believe the media infatuation with their clubs.

Even if we got another pick for Fisher, I'd rather we spend it at the draft than on Spangher.

Essendon could do with Spangher more than Carlton with Fletcher (last year), Hurley, Hooker (LOL), Pears and Daniher their KPD.

Ryder was never much chop as a one on one defender.

They wanted Trengove before Port beat them to him.

I don't want Spangher... I mean i'll have him for cheap as pure depth, but anything more than a 3rd rounder is a rip. I prefer we spend our energy on a taller backman... we have enough of the "to small to play on the big boys, and to big to play on the small boys"
