This doesn't cover anything. There is a massive difference between Ollie and his management shopping him to Carlton and Ollie requesting a trade.

James Brown used to fine any member of his bands ie the Famous Flames/James Brown Band/James Brown Orchestra if they missed a note, wore their clothes poorly, were late etc.

Soul Captain Tom Jonas - Ollie, that was a shit kick - $1,000 fine. Charlie that was cement hands dropped mark - $5,000 fine. Robbie, you missed a simple set shot - $10,000 fine.

It might actually get us to improve our skills.

Oh shit it was true. Club didn't do what it specifically needed to do here and deny the premise of the accusation, that an approach was made by his management to sound out possible move. Sigh

".....Port Adelaide believes it is important to confirm that at no stage has Ollie requested a trade from our club."
This is redundant word-smithing. We all know this because if he had requested a trade, we would all know he had. In other words it appears it was an approach by his manager after all, albeit just a sounding out, and the Herald Sun story is correct.

"...Equally, at no stage has Port Adelaide contemplated trading Ollie to any other club and he remains a required player."

Yeah should have stopped there Port. That sentence is just as damaging. The story was never about the CLUB contemplating trading him, nor his being a required player.

You need a better spin doctor Port. Maybe Holly should have been consulted. Or perhaps Carlton. Or shucks, even Ollie and his management

I'm convinced his, management approached the blues, but got rejected and so Ollie never took it further

That is no less an issue than Ollie wearing a Carlton guernsey and running down Lygon Street singing "We are the old dark Navy Blues"

LOL ... How ridiculous!

Shouldnt you be asking Carlton and/or Wines for a comment or denial? The club is the offended party, you idiot!

Media: Bill Clinton reportedly had an affair with his intern Monica Lewinski
Media: We have approached Hillary Clinton for a comment. She has said at no stage did this happen, & will issue a statement soon
Hillary Clinton: At no stage did this happen!
Bill Clinton: [crickets]
Monica Lewinski: [crickets]

o_O
Edited for accuracy:

Media: Bill Clinton reportedly had an affair with his intern Monica Lewinski
Media: We have approached Hillary Clinton for a comment. She has said at no stage did this happen, & will issue a statement soon
Hillary Clinton: At no stage did Bill tell me he slept with Monica Lewinski!
Bill Clinton
: [crickets]
Monica Lewinski: [crickets]

Gah I f*cking hate AFL media circles during this time of year, but this year especially, one week down and only five trades have happened

Port have said "we're not trading him"

Carlton have said "we're not interested"

All it seems like to me is his management enquired about a possible trade and it went no further than that, some AFL journo scraping off the bottom of the barrel for stories makes this into a bigger story than it is.

Mountains out of molehills

His management would not have done this unless there had been at least some direction from Wines. A contracted 25 year old co-captain exploring his options is newsworthy during the trade period.

I saw that many years ago. Every time I read James Brown or see James Brown I say or think Haaaaa.

Turnbull's son in law is an ex ADF officer, Captain I think - James Brown, as as he works with the Lowy Institute, served in Afghanistan, has talked a lot about supporting ex service personnel who are struggling with PTSD. He now is President of NSW RSL. Everytime I read stuff he has written or said, I think, Haaaaaa.

We know they won't do it but I'm on the same page as those who reckon the club should trade Wines while there is a possibility we can still get something decent for him.
He has been over rated for years and a couple more seasons like the one just gone and his value will fall through the floor.

I would rather keep SPP, at least he has a burst of pace over the first 5 metres, and his foot skills are no worse than Ollies, plus he could still have some improvement left.
