Supercoach Round 3 SC Talk - Round 3 Trades ,//, AFL Fantasy Round 2 AF Talk - Round 3 AF Trades
Yeah, he's going to have to earn it now, he's had enough opportunities to show something and hasn't shown enough. Good attributes but needs to put in the VFL work.
SDK was my favorite of the day, I know many hate him in the ruck, but he looks happier in the middle. Knevitt, Smith looked good too.
Natural attrition aside, I think it is more likely we'll see O'Connor in the VFL early we know what he can provide. It is servicable. We're waiting for the day that Mullin gets some footy IQ they clearly don't think he'll get it in the VFL, his physical attributes are too good for that level. Mullin's inclusion shouldn't be the difference in the aggregate of a home and away season compare to a single knock out game in finals.
Bruhn's finger injury might keep him out a while.
really only kolo could come back into the best 23. (i think its too late for Stanley, duncan and Guthrie)Changes today from the 2022 premiership side:
In: Bowes Clark Dempsey O.Henry Holmes Humphries Knevitt Mullin Neale O'Sullivan B.Smith
Out: Bews Duncan C.Guthrie Hawkins Kolodjashnij Parfitt Rohan Selwood I.Smith Stanley Tuohy
My theory is :-Pick 20 and 40 for someone who likely just got BOG in his first game 19 months out, and 3 Brownlow votes (B. Smith)
Pick 63 for one of our Top 7 best players on ground (L. Humphries)
Pick 19 for our new starting ruck, runner up Rising Star (SDK)
Pick 20 for a Best and Fairest winner and one of the best at our club (Holmes)
Rookie Pick 33 for our new backline general (Z. Guthrie)
Rookie Pick 16 for our backline aerial general (J. Henry)
Rookie Pick 14 for our long sleeved 'creation' king (Close)
Pick 57 for our 'unorthodox' assist god (Miers)
SSP selection - no pick - for our crumbing specialist (Stengle)
Rookie Pick 15 for our winger Jackie Chan, and Rising Star Winner (Dempsey)
Pick 40 for our backline god (T. Stewart)
Pick 33 for our forwardline Hulk (S. Neale)
Rookie pick 11 for our heart and soul midfield nugget (T. Atkins)
Cat B Rookie pick for our swiss army knife extraordinaire (Blicavs)
Future 3rd pick for our 'Jack of all spades' gun (Bowes)
Pick 25, fringe player and a bunch of nothing picks for our forward line aerial wizard (O. Henry)
Pick 25 for our young tackling beast who took a huge step today - 11 tackles - (Knevitt)
Cat B Rookie pick for our dependable tagger from across the isle (O'Connor)
Cat B Rookie pick for our new Irish boy (Mullin)
***********
And clubs wonder why we haven't had to do a hard rebuild? Not one pick there inside the Top 15. All played a massive part today. 19 players out of 23. Only Danger, Jez, Clark, O'Sullivan, taken/traded for with picks inside 15. Ridiculous.
My theory is :-
While other clubs are very cut-throat competitive
Cats: Spread the Salary Cap evenly management
Creates a, We Are Family, team first mentality.

That's actually a bit of a crazy thought. No superstars but we can just do a full midfield turnover of names within game and not be disadvantaged by it. The mightyWe were running an extremely negative midfield in the 1st half, they realised it in the 3rd how much of an absence of a midfiled threat we were and just went right through us. In the 4th were loaded up more ball winners in there. We almost did what was akin to a hockey rotation in there. I think having the ability to shove fresh players in wholesale can in effect overload the oppotion even when they have an on paper advantage over us.
Is neale still growing? He is an absolute monster now.

Turning into a freight trainHe's also jumping at every opportunity.
He's beginning to believe in himself.
203cm/105kg with that athletism .... hell of a hand full.
Mate those nike mentions have pulled in enough extra 3rd party cash for another 3 year contract for baz at 100k salary cap per year!Just on the Bazlenka headband
It was incredible that before the game the radio callers mentioned 'Nike' at least half a dozen times during the team warm up
More exposure than actually displaying the logo.. clever

Me? I like football.
Great win. I was pretty worried with that third quarter. It seemed to expose all of our weaknesses all at once, particularly midfield and some positional deficiencies. With the conditions it looked setup for fourth quarter a slog at best.
To put on the jets and blow them away showed real class.
Nothing much else to say that hasn’t already been said. I have to echo that I share grave concerns about Mullin as a defender. Just has zero game sense for the role. I would be trying to use his natural assets further up the ground where footy nous isn’t such a prerequisite.
I like some of what mullin does but he doesn't have the game sense to play deep in defence. Loses his man too much and relies on his pace to make it up. Doesn't have the feel yet to intercept how our other defenders do. Either put him in the midfield and let him use his legs (those are his asset) or put him in the vfl if they are planning to make him the bews replacement (if that's the role he's being trained for do it at vfl level).
Knevitts intent was great. He just needs a block of games. He isn't necessarily going to be the A grade star that Dempsey is but he absolutely will be a solid middle tier 10 year player if we just bloody stop yo yo ing him in and out of the side.
Good signs with sdk but I need to see him against a physical ruck.
Neale is 'almost'. I feel like he could explode if he owns his marks.
Mullin I don't really know what they are doing with in the back pocket. I'd say he's first out when we get some guys back.
Oconnor played like a guy who knows he's on the edge of missing the side. Really good today.
Anyone know why the players left the field the entire Q3 break?
Was it into the cool room or for Scott's cold blast in private?
