Thought that was one of Newman's best games.

Good win in tricky conditions and with a big build up from them. Another 4 points. :D
Newman has become a very solid mid sized defender for us..his 2022 has been outstanding. Suspect he'll be top 10 b n f

Must be nice to have a full strength side. Can't even remember the last time I've seen a full strength Carlton side, if ever.... that is actually really depressing...

Hopefully it's a close game, our midfield today didn't look as damaging as they usually are.

If they don't show up next week, expect the richmond forwards to dominate, although same could be said for richmonds midfield....
I actually still think it’ll come down to how well we can defend your two big forwards this time, Curnow was way off fitness in round 1 and is now close to the best forward going around. Your midfield will torch us we’re really getting slow and having trouble running both ways. We’ll see, should be good.

As for full strength, it’s been since the 2020 grand final for us and even in that game we lost a player in the first five minutes, and that was without medical subs. So I’m stoked to see how we go if we pick our best possible side. We don’t have the luxury of much depth so we need our absolute best out there to be any chance of finals let alone going deep.

Those complaining need to relax a bit …yes we didn’t play well but we beat an ordinary side by 5 goals without getting out of second gear. It was a cold misty and wet miserable night … extremely unlikely to see slick football in those conditions. Good to see Voss give a spray I thought we played like millionaires for a bit and that would have riled him up.

Bank the points put the cue in the rack the last twenty minutes and onto next week. A good professional performance considering a few guys came in off a layoff. Onto the tigers!

Cobbled together a half of footy...but I'd say 15 teams would have comfortably dispatched us. There was blood in the water tonight, and we didn't want a piece of it.

Smashed in the middle. Collapsed in on the contest and the Bombers danced it out at will. Looked a little sluggish and one paced.

Didn't hold our shape in defense. Held together on individual efforts of Doc, Saad and Young. Mids certainly not rolling back with the intent shown earlier in the year. Indeed Bombers won the territory battle for most of the night.

Similar story up forward. Our bigs and smalls seem to operate to completely different plans. One great front and center snag to Fisher, but Durdin and Owies didn't get near the fall of the ball. Owies plays as another marking option really. Credit to the bigs and some quality entries.

Credit to the aforementioned Fish for his improved body of work this year, but he must have the worst endurance in the team...blows up very quickly.

I'll never begrudge an Essendon win, but seriously...they ordered their defensive strategies from Wish, and they have the long term contracted version of Stringer. It was barely sport.

We won but it still feels kinda like almost a loss. But I guess we did lose Cerra. So, yeah. That sort of put the teams even on paper, I guess with him gone. Coz they had Stringer and everything. And we only had two gun forwards. So yeah, pretty even. Therefore pretty good result. I guess. Yeah. Hey Tigers.... wanna dance? 🙃

I saw us constantly miss targets, make poor decisions with ball in hand, make poor decisions on when to go fast/slow and not score a goal against the team in 16th position on the ladder.

Our ability to defend in these situations has been really solid all year, but I can’t help but feel a lot of these issues are mental with the group.
DD, we are 9 and 3. All the contested measures show that * had a genuine crack and we held them at arms length all night like a school yard bully. Yeah we should have left them bruised, bloodied and crying under a treat, but, just sometimes, having everyone in the school laugh at their forlorn, desperate attempt at relevance are just a laughable misrepresentation of reality. That was their granny, in miserable conditions and they were not in the same league.
Leave a cheeky grin for the weakling and move on to the next, sterner test.

Thanks for the invite essendon you flogs. We came and drank all your beer, shagged your women and took a dump on the front lawn. Can we do it again next year at your legitimate 150th?

And hopefully next week, we take a dump on Richmond’s beds, Amber Heard style

We seemed to be mismatched in defence at times. Not sure if it was our guys covering for each other, but the vision often showed our guys standing taller opponents.

Do we need Durdin in to get better matchups?

I know I talk a lot of rubbish around here, but if I may take a leaf out of ferrisb 's book and be serious for a sec,

Gee whiz it's inspiring to see Voss dissatisfied with the win. He has high standards and he will not compromise on them - I love it - and how could blokes like Crippa not get spurred on by a coach who is arguably one of the best goddamn midfielders of all time?! He can give those sprays because he commands respect, it's not empty noise and mindless ranting. It's backed up with experience, history, and demonstrated knowledge.

It's unlikely that the players will get too far ahead of themselves with a coach like Voss. Ohhh what a feeling.

Yep. Love him. He oozes integrity. Sort of the opposite of Goodwin.
Gutsy win. The Cult fc threw everything at us.
Well done lads and well done to those of you who showed up at the game.
