When do you think that will be?
Next year .....you don't draft a player with a foot injury with only 8 rounds left in the season .....and we didn't draft him to cut him loose after 8 rounds & a handful of SANFL games

Now if he hasn't adapted well to AFL life & training .....different matter

Rendell really has lost the plot, reckons we could get a second rounder for Brown.

Raises a point though, what happens if no other club wants Crouch, do we pay him out?
Correct re brown - if he can’t get a game for us no one is giving us a 2nd rounder for him, be lucky to get a future 4th rounder

I thought about that re Crouch and thought it’s highly possible we just pay him out with other clubs not showing interest

if the relationship with the club was salvageable which I doubt , I could see him as Sanfl captain or something but that’s a super Longshot now

WE can only assess, after Turner has played AFL ......not reading much into Carmichaels early games, but 20% DE a bit alarming
I think it’s a seperate issue honestly

Drafting Turner doesn’t excuse us for leaving Carmichael on the table given what he is and what we need

Could have taken both if so enamoured with Turner

If we are paying any of Crouch’s contract Reid has to go and it’s the final straw. We can’t keep paying players not to play for us. Crouch was always going to be a risk giving him 2 years and was unnecessary given no one wanted him, 1 was enough.

Yeah, I forgot he’s getting on a bit. But he’s still an excellent, lock down defender for a contending team looking for a plug and play option

I don’t think late 2nd round is out of the question in the right circumstances
Unless it’s all down to injury which he seems to have a bit of (assuming he can get his body sound) I can’t see him getting his sharpness back

Seems a level below the standard these days and to play on the blokes he plays on you need to be right on your game or get exposed

And he’s never had a great offence game so can’t see him changing roles or the way he plays

If you are going to respond with stats then at least get them right or maybe even close . Yes his DE is low but he has kicked 3 massive goals to help win 2 close games in 3 games .

Those 3 massive goals had the effect increasing his 3 game DE ave to 34% ......Carmichaels massive goals certainly impressed the selectors

Emerg listings are like an encouragement award ....means very little

Point is, Carmichael was dropped .....so the question is why, if those goals were match-winners ....not trying to be a smartarse, it's a serious question ....I'm saying his low DE is cause for concern & overrides his goals

Love it how the gang of goombys are so quick to jump in support of each other .

Might just be that De Goey is fit .

Your response doesn't even make sense . You wrapped a question in 2 statements without actually asking the question ... that is very low efficiency .

Yeah but it’s still De Goey isn’t it
That's the point, it's his capabilities ....not on what he's produced this year

So, all clubs have the same issue ....playing reputational players on name / past performance .....it's not just ADEL

Off the mark here with his DE. He had 8 soccer kicks against the Crows which didn't count as efficient so brings it right down.

I am sadly a Westies supporter so have an interest in Carmichael's career so have seen everyone of his disposals in AFL. Makes for some interesting viewing how the stat collectors identify what an effective disposal is.

I suspect he isn't in the team due to not quite being AFL fit. Give him time, he will be best 22.

I'm not, I'm accurate ....his DE is what it is, all players play under the same conditions......you can't put a proviso on any stat (insert excuse) to say, well if he hadn't have had the 8 soccer kicks, his DE would have been higher

What about the 3 x Free's Against .....should we excuse that as well, because it was wet ?

Point is ....after 3 games, his DE is 34% ......Carmichael is averaging 60% TOG, so your point on AFL Fitness for a mid-season Draftee is, in all probability, correct

I'm not dumping on the lad, I wish him well, and he can obviously find the ball ......but so can Matt Crouch ....so there has to be more to his game, than just getting possessions & having a high turnover rate

DE is rubbish ... you can be running at 100% with 14 backwards handballs to a team mate under pressure that leads to 6 turnovers .

Will try not to bore you too much but 3 of his 4 FA in his career were from contested ground ball gets (then penalised for HTB). Not from being undisciplined. A coach would much rather him getting the ball first.

My issue is more on DE. You can look at Brodie Smith's DE and think everything is okay but due to him kicking long most of the time, it counts as an effective kick even if it's a turnover.

Stats are important, but not always black and white. I was surprised when the Crows didn't select him.

Totally agree ....stats are only partially relevant, when comparing players in the same zones .....FWD, RUCK, MID, DEF ....even the Defenders stats are skewed because play-on kickouts are counted as a completed disposal, if it goes 40mtrs to a pack of players

so each stat has to be balanced in conjunction with additional stat markers

As I said, wait till Turner plays ....then we can draw a more accurate comparison
