Makes me think a succession plan might be the best strategy.

Unfortunately Koch and the board don't have the foresight or the balls.

If only we had a highly-rated young assistant coach in the box who just happened to play in the 2004 flag and knows exactly what it takes to be a Port Adelaide person, for him to hand over to…

Imagine being the underling of donuts.

Alright what youse gotta do is make sure the boys know about working harder for longer. And make sure your smallest player keeps himself isolated in the F50 against 2 players a foot taller. Then get everyone's to bomb it on his head

Unfortunately anybody who played in the 2004 premiership is no longer young unless they were 8 years old when they won the flag.

Only recently? He started as a dopey football casual with a liking for more than one team and it's gotten worse since. He's been damaging the ethos of the club for years.
Well put it this way, until recently i though Hinkley was the bigger concern. Now i think Kochie needs to go first. He is rubbish.

Chad Cornes, come on down!

There is significant cultural damage being done by the current regime which will be difficult to undo even when they're finally gone.

These dickheads have taken a proud club with a winning mentality - albeit one which struggled to perform under pressure ('97-'12) - and turned it into a soft, weak club who think success is too difficult to achieve.

The next coach will have a very difficult time trying to turn this mentality around, assuming they're even aware that it needs to be turned around which is not a given.

This is why I favour an ex player in future coach discussions. We need someone who knows Port Adelaide and won't apologise for taking it back to where it needs to be if it wants to be competitive in this league.
And that man is Jarrad Schofield

I actually didn’t realise he was 47, but someone like Kane Cornes or even Tredders would be considered a ‘young’ coach.

You don’t see too many 26 year old assistants wearing glosticks and sucking lollipops in the box these days.

if he came here i believe we'd have a good shot as we've got a pretty pre-made list.

north is still in all sorts and you can't really say the hawthorn rebuild was going all that well under clarko
Carlton and Collingwood have both shown this year how powerful it can be to have a new voice at training. It doesn't guarantee a flag, but it's a helluva lot more preferable to keeping the same old coach because you're too scared to sack him!!!!

If Fantasia was a greyhound Ken’s would have gotten the shovel out by now

I like the concept of a 47 year old being 'young'

It's probably because Hinkley, much to the chagrin of this forum, has made three prelim finals,

For how many years has Rutten been Essendon’s head coach?

I'm so desperate right now that I would accept a succession plan and renew for next year.
I'm coming back once Hinkley is gone anyway, so if it is a certainty, I'll be happy to stay.

Why does everyone always forget Ken Hinkley is a boring non drinker (not that there's anything wrong with it, or not drinking automatically equals boring, but as I've said before, it's a part of the larger tapestry of 'boring ken').

He would not be a knockabout bloke at the pub. Bloke can't even stand to be in a room with reporters asking legit questions. No way he could share space with loud people who may hold different views and attitudes to him. He'd be at home eating ham sandwiches. Maybe in a shed. Maybe in a shed with mates he's already vetted, at the most.
Non-drinking idiots / bogans is a rare combination. Non-drinkers tend to be more health conscious people, who often skew towards the more intellectual. There's no way anyone could say any of that applies to Ken. He looks like your typical overweight middle aged guy just waiting for hist first heart attack.
