Split this years pick for 2 1sts
Keep 20
Give 26, 27 and 38 to Brisbane for Deven (Creme) Robertson and and their next years 1st.
Take Narkle as a DFA

Gives us 2 1sts and 20 this year
Deven (Creme) Robertson
Quinton (Farkle) Narkle

2 1sts next year.

Definitely thino we are better off getting a 1st rounder from Brisbane next year then loading up with picks in 30s this year.

I`m liking at Pick 27 or 38 Jaxon Binns as a hard running Michael Braun type..

Jacob Ryan also around those picks. Half back / wing with impressive running power.

Wish there was a decent small forward in this draft. Our stocks without Rioli are now getting laughable.

I'm not fully convinced Darcy Jones could play that role but it's worth the punt. He'd be no worse off than Petrucelle or Legdon.
Move Jones back forward and that problem is solved. Hunt can replace Jones down back

Everyone’s so keen for Hunt to play back, and here’s me on my Pat Malone emploring us to rotate him forward/off a wing.

Listen to me Simmo. I’m the coach now.

Our NGA player Dewar could be a late option or rookie.

Id like James Rowe from the Crows to replace Rioli. Wanted him in when drafted. There is a reason why the Dogs were also keen and look like lqnding him this year cheap.

I would seriously look at helping Freo to unlock the Jackson trade.

Get them to offer just pick 2 for Jackson

In return for 2 and a future R3, we get 13 this year plus future R1 and the future Norf R2 priority pick they get for Logue

Port look like they are prepared to drop back so make it Rioli plus 20 and 38 for 8. I’d start with 26 and 38 but accept 20 and 38

8 13 26 this year
2 x R1 and 2 R2 in 2023

Gets Freo’s salary cap full for next 3 years when English is a FA
So

Rioli + 2,20,39,F3(38)

for

8,13,F1(13),F2(20)

Donr mind it. Quality over quantity in this years draft and a really strong presence in next years draft

If we use 20 instead of 26 to Port, I’d ask for their pick 54 as well as we’d be still wanting to use 4 picks

Cadman, Sheezel, Wardlaw and Tsatas all definitely gone but at least two of Clarke, MacKenzie, Humphrey, Ginbey or Phillipou will be there to choose from. Hollands, Hewett, Hotton, maybe Ginbey still around at 13

Yeah, but...

He seems to play better when the game is all in front of him. He can do his one little trick of intercepting an oppo kick and playing on quickly with a bit of dash and a couple bounces, then launching it inside 50. More space in front of him means more territory for him to run into and take before kicking.

The HFF role of presenting at F50, take a mark, turn, stop, prop, wait, then look for Darling or Allen with a pinpoint pass doesn't seem like his jam I reckon.

Who knows

I think I prefer him just marking it in defense, running 20m then thumping it another 50m without any real requirement that he hits a target. Just thump it to a forwards advantage. Doesn't need to be precise. Move the game quickly, transition it out of our defensive half quickly and not this nightmarish chip around stuff we're unfortunately now used to. I feel like Simpson has brought him in because we're at the stage where we don't know how to get the ball from defense to forward anymore.

Yeah, until Rioli left we didn't really have a strong need for small forwards. Now add that to our growing list of needs.

Few good options in this draft:
  • Charlie Clarke, should be around 20 to 35 mark.
  • Jacob Konstanty, should be around 15 to 25.

Or if we take Sheezel at 2, we're sorted.

I like Coby Burgiel. Think he is likely to turn into a Toby Greene/Tom Papley type player.

I’m not commenting on this as a Brisbane supporter, because I don’t really care who we make the trade with, as long as we get a points bounty for one of our first round picks, but commenting as a draft and trade watcher.

Aside from the inclusion of Robertson (as a Brisbane supporter), that’s about as sensible view I’ve read here on the draft.

There’s kids who will potentially get drafted in the late first round this year, who wouldn’t have gone in the top 30 last year.

That’s a comment I’ve read/heard echoed on the draft board, and from recruiters.

Instead of trying to load up on 5 top 30 kids this year, try and get 3 top 20 kids this year (excluding the father son kids), and another 3 next year.

We’re finishing 6th next year?

Out of this year’s top 8, who looks to be getting stronger?

And who looks to be getting weaker (from retirements and players asking to be traded out).

Reread the post I quoted

Brisbane weren’t a part of the proposed trade so it’s irrelevant where I think you finish next year

And whilst I didn’t clarify the numbers in brackets they were the future picks based on this years ladder for the teams involved - WCE, Fremantle and North

I liiiiike it.

AsterixTheGaul, can you please collaborate with BOND 007 and pieman and lock this in?

Is there a decent KPP option available at the high end this year? I can't say I follow draftees but I'm hearing a lot of midfielders this year but next year's draft is supposedly better. Given ruckmen/KPP's take longer to develop than mids it almost seems to make more sense to get one really good KPP this year and do our best to load up on first and second rounders next season. Might mean another season of pain but bring on our next dynasty!

Jason Konstanty. Gippsland Power. IMO Draft Range 20 - 30............................... Charlie Clarke - Sandringham Dragons. Draft range IMO 20 - 35

Dark Sharks : Late edit I have just read Eastcoasteagle post above and I concur the two players that he has suggested, Clarke will give high quality defensive pressure, plus he can give a chop out in the midfield rotations.

My bad. 😞

I am a big fan and would be thrilled if we drafted him with one of our second rounders.... quick, skills galore and a goal kicking mid.

So according to the arbitrary rating system we have the best value of combined draft picks.
Oh, and Fremantle have the worst.
