Was over in the bomber forums just cause I like watching opposition melts re the Scott appointment and Sheedy swipe.

Anyway jumped into there draft thread and a lot of talk in there about doing business with the eagles

pick 4 and 22 for pick 2 and 38.

Also chat about getting Bowes and 7
Sending 7,22,& 25 to us for 2 and 38.
(Don’t ask me how they get pick 25)

Assuming we get 27 from port

That would leave us with

Picks 7,20,22,25,26 & 27 in the draft

Or 5, 20,22,26 & 27
2 >> 7

Who are they wanting to secure by moving up?

I'd probably do 3+38 for 5+22

Probably not the other deal for pick 7 though (and, lets be honest, if Bowes is picking his team then why would you choose the bombers?).

'if' (and it is a big if) we are set on a mid, and the draft went Ashcroft (Bris), Wardlaw (Nth), Sheezel (Ess), Cadman (GWS) then we had pick 5 - we have basically picked up #22 for free.

I’m not doing 2 for 7 and some 2nds personally.

I’d do 2 for 4 and 22 with nothing going back from them though, but I’m not sliding down for a very minor upgrade

I have no issue with Cadman as a prospect as he has a very good all round game.

Here are the issues.
- on a set shot his routine is fine but he drops the ball from outside the boot meaning unless the timing is perfect the shot is 50/50. His stats dont look horrible however he also had 12 ootf, multiple rushed behinds and miskicks that didnt go the distance.
He is also historically not great at getting ball to boot under pressure and for accuracy of field kicks.

If his kicking was sound in this draft he would be worth pick 2 in this draft. He wouldn't be in the first 4 tall forwards / forward rucks in next years draft. I would prefer to go small this year with top 20 picks and the look at talls in the second round onwards this year as i see value there. Next year if we can somehow manage two top 10 picks we are looking at a generational ruck and a key forward if we dont finish last.

If we finish last Harley Reid is looking like a true generational prospect and there is still no guarantee he is the best pick next year.

Do you have any other intel on how the early picks look like playing out? I’m feeling confident North would be right into Cadman

From what I’ve seen of Cadman he seems a lot more active at ground level than most KPFs. Given that, I’d expect he’d be taking more shots under pressure in general play (as opposed to set shots). Perhaps that explains some of the OOTFs?

Is bevan from WP any good?

Good big bodied, solid blue collar working midfield, more a blunt object than a scalpel.
Racks up consistently good numbers which is indicative of his high rate work ethic.

At the start of the season I had an early second round grade on him, however his stakes have drifted a fair way from that the longer the season has gone.
Initially I had him in front of Jack Cleaver, but Jack has overtaken him with a good season at East Fremantle.

My guesstimate is that at very - very best, he might snag a late pick opportunity, but more likely I see him as a rookie list option, if he gets drafted at all.

Nothing wrong with his skillset, more so that he doesn't have any standout features and others have overtaken him and project better options for AFL.

I suspect he will be playing WAFL next season.

i'll rephrase, those were the numbers of OOTF from set shots. I didn't count in play rushed shots outside of the official goal and behind figures that everyone has.

The word is North are seriously considering Cadman with their first.

West Coast staff refuse to to talk to me after my outburst at Nisbett at his little private asslicking parade.

Expect a surprise top 10 draft pick.

Also expect someone who may have only been mentioned on here maybe a max of once to be taken in the top 30 picks. I'm sure more will come to light on these two in the coming few weeks leading into the draft.

I may be called in for a couple of player interviews in regards to trades this week however it's a quiet week until I'm absolutely flat out during the interview stage of the combine and discussions with families.

After the combine I finally get to come back to WA and away from this shithole.

This would be a dream result. Pick Warldaw and having an extra pick in the top 10 for another midfielder as insurance.

I read it that way at first too, but I think he may have meant there'll be a surprise player taken in the top 10, not that we'll have an extra top 10 pick. Would be incredible though to get another top 10 pick to pair with the Warlord.

Yeah right, I guess I got a little excited 😆.

Speaking a bit about the draft in general.

Yes it seems Nisbett has sent the word out and i am blacklisted from anything WCE related.

lol you must have hit a raw nerve ....... touch'e.

No real standouts in the WAFL Colts GF. Bevan finding lots of the footy but absolutely butchers it.

Farrow from West Perth looks a rangy type up forward.

Clay Hall from Peel who is in the 2023 cohort the cleanest player out there and has found a bit of it.
