Woods beat us by 6 points at the g late last season, Brisbane beat us by 11 points at the gabba in rnd1 last season. Woods finished 4th, lions 1 win behind at 6th.
But apparently completely different games? Wtf are you talking about?

They know there game plan way better and added more talent plus Dacos and other younger players have improve.

We beat Richmond by 10 goals in a final then loss to them by 30 the next fixture , just because we got close that game doesn't mean much

.... I never said we don't win some pressure games ....
Yeah that's exactly what you said i.e. "When teams bring equivalent or greater pressure than us in the middle, that's always (my emphasis) when we fall apart under Hinkley". No analysis, just pile-on abuse.

Fall apart = shit disposal, bombscare playing style. I never said we lose games. And it's not pile on abuse, it's an opinion, on an internet forum.

The age copying the Sunday Mail in sympathy. From their story on how the new recruits went in every game. JHF got the second highest rating of 8.5 of the 30 odd players that swapped clubs and played in Rd 1. Tom Mitchell got a 9.

Ollie Henry, Luke Jackson, Jason Horne-Francis, Tom Mitchell and Brodie Grundy were among the recruits to make their first appearances for news clubs in round one of the 2023 AFL season.

Our kf and key back combined for 10 contested marks. Without going back through history I’m going to guess that is a pretty rare feat. No other team came close to it this weekend.

Its a good number, but Wayne Carey holds the AFL record for most contested marks in a game at 10, on his own.

Eight players have taken nine in a game – Barry Hall, Matthew Richardson, Brad Ottens, Drew Petrie, Chad Cornes, Matthew Lloyd, Daniel Bradshaw and Aaron Naughton.

And 12 players have taken eight – Stewart Loewe, David Neitz, Nick Holland, Nathan Thompson, Travis Cloke, Rory Lobb, Mason Cox, Callum Sinclair, Jake Carlisle, Aaron Hamill and Max Gawn.

Then there are a heap of players at 7 per game. I daresay a team total of 10 marks in a game has been achieved in just about all of those games ... and more

It depends what you call rare. 10 marks - Port 2023, Carlton 2021. 2020 was...2020. West Coast 2018, 2016. Adelaide, Geelong 2012. 9 marks happens at least once a year. Cant find stats before 2012. Daresay it was done more often 1990-2010 when key posts were more of a focus.

KD's less CM's per game. Understandably their focus is on not letting their opponent mark the ball, rather than marking it themselves. Even the best KD's don't often get more than 3 contested marks in a game. About every second round there is usually a KF who goes on a tear and gets 5+ CM in a game.

That s**t is as redundant as "remember 2012".
Boak has been a very good club man, a very good player, but time after time he has failed, as much as Hinkley has, to take us to the next level. He will never be remembered as a great of the game because of this. Whilst he is probably still in the best 23, all he is doing is holding onto a spot that could be being used to develop a younger player. We are neither in the position where we are pushing for a premiership or despately need experienced players to lead the youngsters. Because of this Boak' s position in the side is a waste.
Despite Kenny's inability to win important matches, I'm still hoping for a Premiership THIS year, and every year.

He won't be remembered as a great of the game, due to lack of success. He will be of the club. He lacks that killer instinct to lift the team on his shoulders and demand wins (just look at our record in close games with him as Captain or 'spiritual Captain'). He still deserves a spot in the 23, but shouldn't be near a leadership position again.

Next coach should be bypassing Wines as well, he's been too infected by 'connectedness', 'living your best life' >> winning premierships. Butters as Captain, with JHF as Deputy is the sort of drawing a line in the sand under the Hinkley era of 'love life', as what needs to be done.

AFL Player Ratings twitter account with the graphics of what each player scored has either retired or couldn't be stuffed with Rd 1 games.

So I have pinched this from WheeloRatings page who has access to the AFL's API and gets the figures and puts it up on his multi sports stats sight.

Edit Rioli was 6th highest rated player for the round behind

Gawn........ 28.90
Gulden...... 26.40
Davies-Uniacke 24.20
Richards.... 23.70 (Western Bulldogs)
Pendlebury 23.10

I so agree. Robert Harvey, Tony Lockett, Nick Rievolt, Gary Ablett Snr in particular (who lets face it could have tried harder in the 1989 Grand Final) and Travis Boak are all soft **** players who failed time after time to take their teams (all 22 players - one of the largest team sports in the world with 36 players on the ground at one time) to the next level. They will never be remembered as greats of the game because of this and rightfully so. They will never take their place on the podium with players of the ilk of Shane Ellen, Brad Hill and Brent Renouf. Whilst he is probably in the best 23 like Dixon, Ollie Wines and arguably Burton, all they are doing is holding onto spots that could be used to develop younger players and therefore their position is a waste. Boak's position in the side should be raffled off to the loudest Boak decrier, someone who I imagine to sound a lot like a despately screeching Cartman who would undoubtedly do a much better job as a player and a spiritual leader.

Good job...well put.
