O
Predictable melt, but now everything is Keays' fault:
"Keays is everything that's wrong with this club at the moment.. and has been wrong with it for a while.."??

Keays had a bad one, for sure. Looked lost (maybe no 'job' given by Nicks?).
He was not alone.
C'mon.
yet again you have missed the point.

keays represents everything thats wrong with the club at the moment and in the past few years.. not that the reason we lost yesterday was solely due to Keays.

he is the epitome of the selection “Golden ticket“ in that he plays one decent game in every 5-6 and that game is enough to get him selected for the next 5.

and he is the epitome of the club’s love for players in its recent history that run hard, have a strong defensive game and try hard even if their skills are questionable... Over players that have talent, skill and poise.

Umpire's self-Preseservation 101.
Williamson is better off reporting it and having it thrown out, than not reporting it and have it sent to the MRO.
No, unfortunately he would still umpire next week regardless.

He just doesn't like the Crows...

I have been a supporter of the berg for a number of years but he has been largely uncompetitive consistently this year and not brought any level of fight and intensity to his game. He always plays from behind does not work hard enough when ball is in area and his hands are harder than dried cement. Pity as he has high football IQ when he has ball in hands and gives off by foot or hand He has just not shown Any level of improvement this year. I thought he would have been chanting at the bit yesterday

I think it’s time we gave Strauchnie a go in ruck if filthy cannot play He could do no worse than the dragon yesterday who was certainly not breathing fire
Totally agree .....played good SANFL late last season ...got his Contract renewal, and then gone back to being uncompetitive

Nicks wanted Berg to spend the summer in the gym ...build his upper body strength
But if you are not going to use your body in contests ....seems a wasted effort ....should have just gone surfing

Berg has lost muscle. Maybe he got confused with what Nicks was requiring.

this is almost certain, add Ned to sub. "The preferred 22 deserves a chance to bounce back" will be something I'll read a few times as I progress through the pages.
I'd have Sloane as Sub this week .....still need a speedy side playing BRIS

OUT: Hinge, Himmelberg
IN: Walker, Nankervis

Rankine gets off
Thilthorpe comes back thru the SANFL .....Ned also needs some full games
Nankervis has shown a lot in the SANFL ....time to give him a shot

I wasn't going to say that ....he certainly looks no bigger than last year ....Himmelberg doesn't have that fierce desire for AFL ....he certainly had a great footy brain, it's a pity

Rankine's report already thrown out as a joke that not even Christian could follow through with.

it's not that. The issue is that as a club, we rejoice stats. Our coaches are stupid enough to believe that we won stoppages. It's the same with Keays, he gets the ball, and that's all they look at.

I got the point that you stated well enough, but your qualification (next) is most welcome, thanks:

which is clearer than your original post. As I've said before, I read what you say, not what you mean.

I agree, cautiously; Keays has plenty of credits from 2020/21/22 in which years he was at least Top10 in our team (fwiw, I think Milera is the Poster Boy for Golden Tickets and an undeserved, lengthy, highly-paid contract, but that's another issue).
Keays had immediate impact within our playing group for professionalism, enthusiasm, fitness, preparation and hard two-way gut-running which would have caused a few others to lift their game. He was a stand-out in 2021, even without a R-foot kick.
Oppo teams have put more work into Keays lately than in his first 2 years.
His impact and singularity have decreased by comparison as the group has improved in personnel and skill, but this year when Nicks has given him a specific job, Keays has delivered more often than not.

Not just that, you and I are not AFL Coaches and I am not a huge fan of Nicks, but I believe Nicks sees value in Keays that you do not. It's Nicks' choices that count; not yours or mine.

I'm with you. I'd love if we had more players with talent, poise and skill, for which our Recruiters are responsible. Meanwhile, we've got who we've got.
Keays' skills are not "questionable". When he has a decent game his skills are there on the day. He was a valuable and instrumental link-man in the win over the Saints and hit up teammates well. Daicos had one of his worst games this year (by his lofty standards) as Keays ran him ragged.
However, Keays' skills, like many others in our team are inconsistently delivered for reasons I do not understand.

Finally, is there anyone in the SANFL who will do a better job than Keays?
When (if) that person arrives, or rises and does do a better job, I'll be fine with that.

Just like you, I want the Crows to be tougher, faster, stronger and more skillful.
I want another Flag, asap.

100%. They'll look at the stats sheet and give the midfield a big tick.

Time to bite the bullet and give Ned a few weeks in Keays’ role.

Worrell needs games.

Give Sloane the sub vest.

Out - Hinge, Keays, Himmelberg, Sloane (sub), Gollant
In - Worrell, McHenry, Walker, Murray, TT

Murray played Saturday

Doubt we'll have 5 or 6 changes. We were playing decent footy up until this game. This is the game you look at, shudder, and move on.
Tex for Himmelberg, Dude for Hinge.

I think we may go this way, they will treat this as their 'Mulligan' and just go with the obvious changes you mentioned. Only other one would be TT for Berg if he is fit.

If we play poorly again this week then I can see some actual unforced changes the week after.

This is Sloanes season, he’s being played as a mid, despite the odd game over 20 possessions, there’s plenty of 18 possession games. They coincide with our losses against quality opposition. Surely as a senior player we should be getting more out of him otherwise he’s just getting in the way of our development.

Is Max going to play on Charlie Cameron this week?

I kinda feel like Max's form has plateaued a bit in the last 2 weeks, maybe even dipped. Not sure I'd be sending him to the hottest small forward in the comp right now.

It was working well when Sloane would start quarters on the bench, bit of time half forward/wing, then come into the middle more often for Q4

Disappointing we've gone away from this

I'd even consider him as sub for the odd game. Keeps him fresh and he can enter games when others are tiring

Would show a lot of trust

Charlie gets isolated more often 1 out than any of their other forwards

Who's matched up on him in our recent games? I can't recall
