I feel like I've stumbled into the Freo forum with some of the comments in here. Since when does this club celebrate losing? Y'all can go * off and support a perpetually s**t team.
Ugh let's rip off this Band-Aid now as it's being thrown around my several posters.

There are different types of fans. What do fans want? Success for their club. What type of success do I prioritise for my club? Long term success which is exciting to watch.

I believe that would have been more attainable with Pick 1 and Reid. As such, today's relatively meaningless win (let's be honest the Dogs were making up finals numbers at best) actually restricts our likelihood of that scenario happening.

Hoping we lost today doesn't automatically make someone a terrible fan, and suggesting that is a gross oversimplification.

Hopefully whoever we take turns out to be a gun - but today, right now - I'm gutted.

Reid and Hewett would have put bums on seats for years and years and years.

I'm not pissed about winning today, but I'm pissed about what winning today says about last week (and the other drubbings).

On the "worst team of all time not getting the #1 pick" narrative - North have just lost their 20th straight game. Let that sink in.

Look I'm obviously emotional but I don't think my reaction is unfair.

For the past 4 seasons this side has picked and chosen when to go. Today doesn't change that. If anything it magnifies it.

All season North have blown winnable games and the fact that we've given them Reid makes me feel sick. I think something special was brewing and while I think Curtin will be a very good player, I'm not over the moon that we'll be using such an early pick on a KPD of all positions.

Today is essentially a sugar hit because it's not as though it was the Longs and Marics doing the heavy lifting. The senior players were the stand outs which bums me out even further.

Why couldn't we have just one nice thing? Feel like a kid on Christmas who has stepped on his present and broken it.

Anyway, dislike my posts and laugh at my melts all you want. I love this club but right now I hate them but it will pass. This has been the build up of years of frustration and disappointment and I'm really ****ing gutted we won't get to watch Reid in our colours.

I feel exactly the same way.
But you can't ask the players to throw the game...
Barracking for us to be in the position to draft Reid has always been questionable for myself.
I've always hated teams that tank, never thought I would ever get to this point tbh, but it's all Reid's fault being the best prospect in the draft by a long way lol.

Sad Baby GIF

I feel physically ill. I can picture Reid fending us off and acting like Hayden B around us while our club pulls a Hewitt not defending him against Reid

The most disgraceful performance was when we didntback up Hewitt. I don't see that changing.

Reid would have backed up Hewitt I can't say the same about anyone else doing so

I was getting conflicted about the impending win vs. #1 pick, but I actually enjoyed the win, been awhile since we've enjoyed that feeling.
Then after seeing that post game sing-a-long, it's a great bonding and belief moment for the team and young ones. It's very, very important in the grand scheme of things.
There's good draft picks to come no doubt, didn't get a cherry but there's plenty of icing!
It's also a great building block to take forward for the pre-season and arguably has more impact than losing and getting a #1 draft pick.
Now to see what awaits Simmo...still conflicted over that issue.(good if he stays/good if he goes?-will miss him)

If you canā€™t enjoy your dogshit football team rolling into town with 23 warm bodies, out muscling and out hunting an elite midfield (on paper) and taking home the win plus any chance of the oppo making finals, what can you enjoy.

Stone Cold shit. Arrive. Raise Hell. Leave.

Tremendous team effort. Showed a ton of heart across the board. Lots of contributors.
Stoked for the boys to be able to enjoy a rare win this season.
Seeing some light at the end of the tunnel is important for motivation ahead of an important off-season.

It's a pity that likely finishing one place on the ladder different to where it looked like we were going to finish, has ruined any chance of any success that the team would have had. Rebuilding is now literally impossible. Success will never come. Club is ruined. A shame on an otherwise positive day.

Loser clubs pin their hopes on a single player that hasn't even played a minute of AFL football.

What happened to the generational #1 draft pick from two years ago, mate?

Loved every second!!!! Jamie cripps trade a master stroke

Lots of great signs in this game. Played a very attacking style, always looking into the middle and pulled it off even with quite terrible skill errors for a lot of it.

Petro has got to be probably our most improved. It's starting to look like a genuinely dangerous mid. I'm really surprised by his strength both with and without the ball.

I thought Williams actually competed in the ruck quite well, which might say more about English than BBW but still good to see. Was kinda killed around the ground though.

I actually liked what I saw from Rotham today. I still think he's probably about the worse defender in the league and the sooner we don't need to play him there the better. But I reckon he could be a decent winger.

A lot of young players really starting to hit their stride. Another preseason and hopefully good run with injury and I reckon we can jump up the ladder quite quickly. Hopefully we can close the gap between our best and worst.

The way some of you are melting, anyone would think we just up and threw away a premiership lmao.

All over one kid.
I know. Its f*cken disgraceful. People acting like the draft only has one good player in it and Simmo is gonna get another 5 year extension.

Dunno what game everyone else was watching but I saw a few of the younger/ fringe players earning their jumpers today and a couple of the older guys showing some leadership. Trew looked pretty flippin' good today, Crippa and Darling settled the forward line, Oscar is a future coleman medallist and even perpetual whipping boys like Duggan and Petch were ok.

Hey! One of them just kicked 9 last night, playing for his 3rd team, having won nothing and fading into complete obscurity.

Freo ā€˜upgradedā€™ their midfield with another one last year too - heā€™s beenā€¦.thereā€¦.taking up a spot for them this season.

These guys arenā€™t always the canā€™t miss champion they appear to be before they are drafted.

CC the Lions were atrocious for a decade, collected all the draft picks in the world and instilled a losing culture. Players then either wanted out or never fulfilled their potential anyway.

What turned it around? A new coach, culture and better list management via trading & free agency. Sure we had some nice picks along the way but no more than most other teams collect from a few poor years in the bottom 4/6.

The Eagles are a massive club with proud history, wooden spoons and Eagles don't go hand in hand the way it does with North & St.Kilda. Don't be like North & St.Kilda.
