Really enjoyed his last couple of games. Is getting out on his own regularly and becoming a real option. Can't help but think of N. Ablett when I see the jumper and blonde hair. ;)
Your daughter tells your 5 year old son that he will have to leave the family if he dares barrack for another team. Safe to say 5 years later he's as one-eyed as his old man.
Wishing Bluey all the very best as he fights this bastard. Some of my best footy memories are with mates watching Bluey take on the best forwards in the 90s. All the best of support to his family.
Love how Joelly goes about it. When the chips are down, which is not often, this bloke takes the game by the neck and the others often follow. You only have to hear how his team mates talk about him to work out how important he is to the Cats. Happy 150 legend.
Was sitting on the first tier in front of corporate boxes and presidents dinner area in the old Olympic stand. Surrounded by mostly Cats supporters who rush off to have a meal and ale at the break behind the glass. Crowd seemed very Hawks when they got a run on late, maybe they are just...
I chose 2011 simply because we played the Pies and I liked nothing better than beating them to a pulp in that last quarter. 2007 was fantastic, an amazing year and the end of a long drought, but we did play Port and nothing but another premiership was going to prove to the comp that we were the...
Re: Jim Stynes Passes Away - Vale a champion/hero - Pay your respects here.
Adding my condolences like the thousands of others who are paying their respects for such a great of the game both on and off the field. As an opposition supporter, I always marveled at how Jimma could carve up other...
That is so terribly sad...poor little fella. I really like how footy clubs respond to things like this, so much of what they do goes unpublished. Here's hoping his family gains strength from his fight. :(
This thread is gold.
Nothing like the talking of shit and rotten fart smell that just lingers and lingers, a bit like Jeff Kennett, who promised to be a silent fart, but followed through with gusto and left a stain and stench that will be remembered for many years to come. He then joined...
All right, nuff dribble, we know we are the greatest, don't need any more proof, don't care what other clubs' supporters think. We don't need to prove it to ourselves to know that we have been witness to something great do we??? WE ARE GEELONG, stuff the rest!
I played in one of the u19 games too against Springvale I think and we got beaten by about 30 goals. I absolutely sh&t myself against some of the huge players on the opposition as I was a little 14-15 year old...I can still remember the bus ride where the players stopped at Maccas and then...
As a Geelong West boy, you either played for Red West or Blue West. As I went to Ashby (then Geelong West PS), most of my mates played for Blue West at Bakers Oval. I was a tiny kid, so sat on the bench for many games during one year at blue west in the u12s. Flipped over to the Roosters...
Played all my junior footy there up until u-18 when the club could no longer field a side, was when the Roosters had pulled out of the VFA and the club struggled for a few years. Played with Peter Riccardi in the juniors for 2 years. Have very fond memories of watching the VFA on Sundays...
Re: James Kelly
Held his head high did our James! What a terrific year from a champ of a sportsman. Pity the game was a total crap-fest though, painful to watch to the end but I put myself through it. The cats GF win shorts at half time was great!
Hats off to the Mighty Big Pill! Absolutely loved watching Otto go round, another Cat who helped lift us to GREATNESS. I will def miss him in the hoops, the number 6 was one of my faves. Many happy memories, was so excited when I heard that the Cats had picked him up 7 years ago. Tough...
Re: Cats Skipper and Leadership group for 2012
Selwood seems a shoe-in for captaincy. Like Jimma as VC given his on-field leading by example attitude. Kelly, Taylor and Enright for the leadership group, can't fault them. still like Joel Corey, but a younger bloke or two may get the nod for...
Even though we all know the careers of some of our greats were always going to draw to a close eventually, it is really hard to hear it all come to fruition. I think I never wanted to admit that it would happen and my dream would last forever! Good on you Dasher, loved your work for the Catters!
Man this should be so easy, but I've read all the others now and find it difficult to add...so different tact...
Try:
1- dancing in the aisles with other Cat fans at this year's GF, knowing that we beat the Pies.
2- me bawling my eyes out at the game after the Cats beat the Saints in the '09...
Ayres...pffft...too many Cat legends left when he was in charge.
More importantly, I really couldn't stand seeing that ugly big head on commercial tv again, let alone up beside some of those saint players like Reiwoldt and Milne.
Oh wait- yes, I hope he gets the job!
Memories last a lifetime- the blood swiping episode with Buckley in the early 2000s sticks in my mind as we farewell Linga. mmmm what happened after that- Ling went on to win 3 flags, Buckley NONE, one owns half of Geelong and the other assisted to knife Malthouse and now coaches,,,errr,,,you...
Re: Cameron Ling to retire
Not allowed to happen...Big Red is a Cat supstar and should go around again...BUT can completely understand if he does-age, sore body, probably offered lots of cash to do special comments on tv, has owned most if not all midfielders that he has tagged in his career, 3...
